Not long to go now, 20 days in fact and i cant wait desptie what would seem like a lack of entries, its looking up now, but only thanks to the privateer teams who are entering. Heres some info for the time being.

Subaru and Ford have finished their testing and are all set for the 2006 season, they finished their testing down in south France, Stephane Sarrazin in the Impreza managed to crash which shortened Subarus week to 6 days.
Sebastien Loeb and Manfred Stohl have been testing on Asphalt as well in their respective teams/cars.

So as it stands, Ford have Marcus Gronholm and Mikko Hirvonen, suprisingly opting to drop Gardemeister despite his pace mostly in the 2nd half of the 2005 season. Subaru stick with Petter Solberg and Staphane Sarrazin. Sebastien Loeb will still be driving a Citroen with Kronos Racing, Xavier Pons and Dani Sordo join Loeb at this team with apparently one other driver who has yet to be named. Manfred Stohl leads the other french manufacturer in the Bozian Racing Peugeot with Henning Solberg by his side, they will be running in a Peugeot 307. Ford will also be running a 2nd team with the help of M-Sport, Matthew Wilson will take the 1st driver seat for them with several drivers taking turns in the 2nd seat, these are: Peter Tsjoen, Kosti Katajimaki, Jari-Matti Latvala and Luis-Perez Companc. The Red Bull backed Skoda team appear to almost be ready, Andreas Aigner, Gilles Pannizi and Mattias Ekstrom will be piloting this car this season. It has also been reported that Gigi Galli and Harri Rovanpera will be entering in privately entered Lancer WRCs run by Ralliart Italy, from the sounds of it at the moment this is only for Monte Carlo and Sweden. JWRC and PWRC both have full entry lists for the most part. See below for the WRC list in full.

In other non 2006 related news, Sebastien Loeb has been testing Citroens 2007 outfit, this is the reason why Citroen pulled the works team out this season so they could invest more time and money into this car, the C4 WRC, pictures and story here: http://www.wrc.com/page/BreakingNewsDetail/0,,10111~752755,00.html

Back to 2006 and the Calendar for this season, many changes this season seeing some countries back where they belong, here it is:

1: Rally Automobile Monte Carlo - 20-22 January.
2: Uddeholm Swedish Rally - 3-5 February.
3: Corona Rally Mexico - 3-5 March.
4: Rally Catalunya-Costa Daurada - 24-26 March.
5: Rally De France - Tour De Corse - 7-9 April.
6: Rally Argentina - 28-30 April.
7: Supermag Rally Italia Sardinia - 19-21 May.
8: Acrolpolis Rally of Greece - 2-4 June.
9: OMV ADAC Rally Deutschland - 11-13 August.
10: Neste Rally Finland - 18-21 August.
11: Rally Japan - 1-3 September.
12: Cyprus Rally - 22-24 September.
13: Rally of Turkey - 13-15 October.
14: Telstra Rally Australia - 27-29 October.
15: Propecia Rally New Zealand - 17-19 November.
16: Wales Rally of Great Britain - 1-3 December.

So there you have it, the French and Spanish rallies take an earlier slot, New Zealand noticabley is second to last rather than the 3rd, and Wales rally GB is the lastround in December, back to the mud, mist and rain for that one:P.

All info courtesy of WRC.com

Rally Mexico has been slightly changed, a new supposedly spectacular stage on the outskirts of the city of Leon has been added as well as the new "Corona extra super special" stage which will be run on Friday and Saturday evening, the resr of the rally remains unchanged.

Monte Carlo will see the return of a classic as well as 2 new stages, St Sauveur sur Tinée (23km) returns, plus the additions of Guillaumes (14km) and Pierlas (22km). The rest of the rally is much the same just som stages being moved around, making Sunday a much more traditional Monte event with a lot of difficult stages.

As of yet none of the other rally web sites have any info on changes to the events.

I can’t wait for Monte Carlo! I am very interested in what the privateer teams can do (ok, what Loeb can do in a private car :P). Should be good watching.

Yeah it will be interesting, and the 2nd Ford team as well. Watching privateers go faster than the works cars will be a bit odd at first.

My predictions for the overall drivers championship:

1: Gronholm
2: Solberg
3: Loeb
4: Rovanpera

I thought Wales was always muddy, foggy and misty? :P

I'll be very interested to see how the new Focus performs, and how the front end takes to Finland.
