WRC 9 Coming in September 2020, Will Hit PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X Later

Does anyone else have an issue with the game crashing a lot? I’m on Xbox One X and it seems to crash on the results page after a stage about 50% of the time. So frustrating. I’m attempting a re-install to see if that helps.
Aside from that, I’m absolutely loving the game. It took me a long time to dial in the right settings on my Fanatec v2.5, but now I got it sorted it’s so fun to drive.
The devs seem to be very low key and I’m struggling to find any ways of contacting them for support, and I’ve also got no idea if they lurk these forums or not. On the off chance though, I’ve got some suggestions for patches.

- fix the clubs system. The community is what makes a game last longer than a few months. Let us create our own rallies, with whatever combinations of stages/events, with open classes or even single-make, and make it easy to search, sign up and invite people. Players should have to commit to a car, have their times accumulated and fix damage at service intervals, just like an actual rally. Good multiplayer is what’s going to keep people playing.

- add an option to create your own event, even on single player. Why there hasn’t been an option for a single rally etc in WRC games as standard is beyond me.

- allow players to complete a season in any of the cars. Obviously for cars like the Escort, it would be a one-make season. The bonus cars are great but they seem like an afterthought as you can only really use them on a single stage.

- make some stages and events out of the test area! Or better still, and I know this is pushing it for a title that’s already out, let us plot our own routes in this area and share them. It’s so big and varied, it would be rude not to!

They are on Twitter. They are very, very poor at communicating though. Still worth passing on your thoughts, you never know they may read it/respond.

What on earth was going on with the Proton Iriz today in the daily challenge? Just rolled at every corner like gravity has been turned off or something. Bizarre.

Speaking of that lag when changing gears,Irl WRC cars change in less than 0.05 secs yet there is a noticeable delay in the game which is rather distracting.

After looking at the recent Kenya Weekly leaderboards it makes me wonder why they don’t delete the cheat results.

Seriously it should take someone at KT a minute to do.

The most recent update was supposed to fix that on PC and PS4. On PC the cheat times are gone, but evidently on PS4 it's still happening.

Speaking of setups, does anyone else think the gearing is insane? The longest gearing you can have is similar to a really close ratio in any other rally game. If you set the gears to close ratio in an R5 car, you can barely even reach 60mph haha.

This game is so frustrating because they’re SO close to an amazing rallying game, if only all these little issues could get ironed out.

Cant say I'm noticing this delay. Might be because I have a fully upgraded WRC car in career mode but either way its not something I've particularly noticed.

Ok,Maybe due to being "stock".Will attempt to upgrade.Going to rebind the controller also while increasing the saturation of right stick which I use for gear changes.
Are brake pressure's adjustable? Turning off ABS results in slip and slide.

Edit: Time trial cars are full spec.

Ok, so I’ve found somewhere I can send a longer form message to the devs. I’ve put the following list together of bugs and suggestions. It will probably go nowhere, but I think this game is SO close to being one of the greats that it’s worth a try.
If anyone has any other bugs or suggestions please let me know and I’ll add them in.

Bugs:
  • My game freezes after a stage when using my Fanatec Clubsport v2.5, ironically with the Fanatec wheel endlessly spinning in the corner. This happens around 50% of the time after I complete a stage, and is making Season mode unplayable.
  • The game is very dark, and there seems to be no in-game brightness slider
  • The gear ratios seem extremely short, even for rally cars. There seems to be no scenario where you can use any other gear ratios than the ‘long’ settings. Using the ‘short’ ratios, the car struggles to reach 60mph!
  • Some players are reporting a delay in shift time.

Suggestions:
  • Fix clubs. Allow fully customisable cross-platform events, inviting players and decent search function to find the kinds of events you’re looking for. Also, these events need to be in the form of an actual rally! Sticking with the same car through an event, accumulated times, damage to be fixed at service parks etc are all part of rallying and absolutely have to part of the multiplayer experience. Robust multiplayer and community building is the key to ensuring a game lives beyond the first few months of release. Codemasters were heading in the right direction with their cross-platform Clubs system in Dirt Rally 2.0, but didn’t manage to live up to it’s potential. You’ve got a chance to beat them to it!
  • Add custom events and championships to single player and multiplayer. We should be able to create our own rallies out of the available stages, and our own seasons or championships out of the available rallies. It’s really frustrating not to have this, as it’s usually a given in motorsport games and especially rally games.
  • Give players the option in the above custom events and championships to run the bonus/historic cars, along with the regular ‘season’ mode. The bonus cars are almost pointless in the game’s current state, which is a shame because they’re a lot of fun. These rallies all have amateur classes outside of the WRC-specific classes, so it would enhance the realism rather than taking away. Some cars would be a single-model competition due to lack of cars in a similar class, for example the Escort or the Stratos, but this could be interesting as a level playing field.
  • Use the training area! It’s a blast to just hoon around, but you’re missing a trick not making some fun competitive stages out of this great location. You could have a whole rally of short super-special stages all within the training area. This would be amazing for the Clubs. Also, and I know this might be getting a bit far fetched now, but it would be a great place to have players mark out their own stages and share them etc.

I haven't played the game yet but I've heard that as per WRC8 it hard crashes on XB1X to the extent of having to hold down the power button to completely turn off the console & then boot from cold. No other game has done this to me !
Also compared to 8 the exterior engine sound & backfire pops & bangs don't sound as good.
Thanks & good luck regarding a response, they always ignore me... :banghead:

So, I came across a strange, but really cool bug today. I'm currently in my 3rd season in career mode, on WRC 2 class, driving an i20. I did a manufacturer test event for Hyundai to try and improve my reputation with the WRC team. I was supposed to drive the light blue 2C Competition I20 WRC for this event, according to the event description. However, when the game loaded, I found myself in the seat of a really cool black I20 that I've never seen before. After the event I searched through the car list but it was nowhere to be found. I searched on google and, alas, found the car. Apparently, it was supposed to be Hayden Paddon's Hyundai, but there are only a few renders of the car. I wonder if he is the new driver we're getting on this month's update. Unfortunately, I didn't get any screenshots, and because of the nature of the event, I can't really try to replicate the bug, but this is the car I was driving:

I saw a video of Hayden driving this car in a test session in NZ. If I remember rightly it was an even higher performance version of the WRC car, like a Group B Evo version. It looked & sounded ace.

Edit: Or maybe it wasn't based on a WRC car at all, I can't quite remember.

The one I drove in the game was just like the regular I20 WRC. Just a different skin. As far as I know, this new car was supposed to debut at Rally NZ, but because it was cancelled, the car was postponed as well.

I believe this is the car you're refering to:
i201.jpg

It looks like it was based on the pre-2017 WRC car. But it's a different car from the one I drove in the game.

The green/black car is not his Hill-climb car (600bhp) which was built in NZ. Paddon has development duties I believe which include competing in the NZ rally championship.
On a PS4 Pro 9 runs pretty good with only one hung load screen which I had to reboot.
No enquiries to KT by me have ever been answered.

This is a version of his hill-climb car due to the aero ,slicks and only the drivers name on car. It's similar spec (RX engine in a stage car chassis) as what Subaru used for their hill-climb program run by Vermont SC.

After up-dating to 1.03 the sound has changed,Similar to when cathedral/hall is preset. Can not find why? It's on all stages,Open and tree lined.
Edit; Soundbar is the problem.Fixed.

Error CE-34878-0 is a general error indicating that the game you are currently playing has crashed.
Got alot of these today for no apparent reason, tried:
1080p (instead of 4K)
Boost off
Hdr disabled
Different HDMi cable
Rebuilt database
Cleared cache
Game running 1.03 (latest i think).
So it was a competition to see who could crash first.

More testing today hoping to cure these blue-screens which leads me to believe it may be network based.
Online crashes,Off line not one! I have pretty fast 4G coverage @ 5GHz (PS4 pro is about 3 times faster on 5GHz) so I'm yet to blame my IP.
Also this game loves power as in Watts,Compared to DR 2.0 it use's on average between 70-90 watts more during game play according to the solar controller which is very accurate.
Now if I could just fix the stutter and screen tear @ 4K I'd be rather happy as this game is a blast.
Probably needs the hp of a next gen console which should fix all the above.

I have been experiencing issues/crashes with it as well on a Xbox One X: mine seem related with the sound - during a stage the sound of the engine stops working while you are accelerating, sometimes it stops completely and we only hear the car rolling. In the worst case the game ends crashing... already crashed twice for me.

It happens quite frequently. I'm surprised they didn't catch this one.

Offline started crashing so the network thing maybe isn't the culprit. What I am noticing is power spikes/troughs before it crashes though the fans remain constant at about 50% so heat doesn't seem to be the problem. Will comeback when I've got a PS5 cause at the moment the pro struggles @ 4K and 1080p looks like ....

Yeah, that would be awesome, but i guess this is just a first step - a bit like the improvements seen in the replays - they are getting better and better with each new version/revision. I'm happy they have (apparently - haven't downloaded the update yet) fixed the sound and crash issues.
