WRC 9 Coming in September 2020, Will Hit PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X Later

How does WRC9 compare to Dirt Rally 2.0. I really like almost everything in 2.0. Tarmac physics could be better though. But the car roster is just awesome.

The cockpit view in WRC 9 seems to have a limited rotation of the steering wheel. Is that something that can be adjusted?

It'll never have the car roster of DR2.0 but I certainly seems like it can hold more than a candle to it everywhere else.

Wow... First impressions of this game are PC are nothing but positive from me.

Dialed in my FFB at the test area then proceeded to go through the career, starting in the JWRC Fiesta. My first rally at Sweden was amazing, the car felt so fluid and I could tell what was going on with my car at all times. Amazing physics!

I haven't played enough to form a conclusion, but so far I can tell you that KT are a force to be reckoned with. Those still hating on the WRC games are simply foolish. If KT keeps this up, Codemasters have a lot on their plate when the WRC license gets handed over to them.

100% agree, the way they have moved the series forward is amazing, I rate it above DR2.0 even more now.

I still think Codemasters is better when it comes to historic vehicle physics but WRC 9 is definitely more grabbing than DR 2.O. 2.0 feels more like a tech demo now for me.
I’m the other way around, historic stuff in DR2.0 is just a bit too ‘must oversteer because’ for me, where as WRC gets the balance better between oversteer and understeer.

Loved WRC8 so I’m really hyped for this now, only problem is I’m still loving Dirt 2.0 so what to choose !!

Good things come to those who wait :)
I can't wait to play it either but I'm still playing a final season on WRC8 so will pick it soonish..

I've done my traditional stage tally. It has more stages than 8, but less of the content is new. Please remember I only consider stages that aren't repeated anywhere else, hence I exclude the Epic Stages from the calculations (because they are made up of other stages stitched together). I DO consider reversed stages to be unique. I know some people don't consider that valid. It's not worth discussing here so please let's not start arguing about that. Feel free to take the data and crunch it like you want, and we would be happy to hear your side of the story regarding the numbers you come up with.

Also note that I have estimated the new stages for Portugal as being 20km. That could end up being more. I haven't been able to get my hands on those DLC stages yet. However, I did manage to find the Finland data so that is included. At the end of the post is the screenshot I found.

Are there any stages have just been rolled forward from WRC 7 without changes in 8 or 9?

Are there any stages have just been rolled forward from WRC 7 without changes in 8 or 9?

Yes: Sweden, Portugal, Finland and Sardegna are still unchanged since 7. Luckily Portugal and Finland get some new stages, but Sweden and Sardegna are going to be identical for the third game in a row now.

Love WRC8 and was trying to hold off on WRC9 until I move from console to PC later in the year so I don't have to buy it twice, and I think the dropped rallies is enough to depress me into being patient. The Japanese stages do look great from what I've seen, Kenyan stages I've seen just look okay (but admittedly unique), not seen any NZ stages yet... but I think I can hold off.

I won't miss Spain too much as I always found it just okay, but Corsica was great, Chile had some fantastic sections and holds one of my favorite stages in the game, and Australia was one of the first rallies I felt like I "figured out" back when I rejoined the series for WRC7 so it has kinda been a favorite for me.

I really wish they could figure out a way to keep the old content, but I guess licensing complications strike again. Licensing is probably one of the most frustrating parts of racing gaming.

I just picked up WRC 8 in the sale and wow im impressed...i had the early WRC games on PS2 and this series has improved so much. The actual rallying and immersion is better that Dirt Rally imo now - the stages are fantastic, great locations and detail. The handling is very satisfying, you can really chuck the car around hairpins and take risks. The career mode and menus is very 'functional' but im enjoying the structure with the R&D - much more purpose to it than Dirt's career.

But i saw the early gameplay of WRC 9 and it looks the same career wise as WRC 8? Exact same menus and same Sweden stages first?

Il definatly get WRC 9 when it appears on the PS5....we have a new number 1 rally game imo!

Nice list. As you have said Finlamd and Portugal will be getting all new routes in the coming months. Unique stage KMs I do find to be slightly higher in the WRC games than the typical stage count woukd suggest as the epic stages can occasionally have a few KMs of route not found elsewhere.

Great work though.

^Love the Corolla :)

@Scaff , I notice you use the close dashboard cam. If you use the normal cockpit view cam, does the game allow you to remove the steering wheel? Or just the hands on the wheel?
