Granted, I tilted the engine the wrong way, and even though we had drained the engine oil, the residual oil in the short block poured out onto my shoes, but what's a new pair of shoes?
Seriously? I've already taken the drivetrain and engine out of a Forester
When you're dealing with a quarter panel you can normally get away with a slightly different colour panel, the panel gaps act as a blending tool and makes differences less noticeable
But yes you can blend the paint - but personally if I were going that far I'd simply get a panel of any colour for cheap, strip the paint and take it to a professional booth.
The blending thought was more geared at the idea if I got the front end and it wasnt perfect or a very close color match maybe down the line get it blended when its more realistic.
Cause this will not work if I dont get the right color in the first place. Getting a fender alone painted is a lot so doing the whole front end would be crazy.
But you don't need to do the whole front end? it's just one quarter panel right?
Ummmm, the bumpers are the same, aren't they? I'd be interested to know if I'm wrong.
Nice to see some action in this thread again. Congrats on the fender with the perfect paint match. That is insane luck.
So you decided not to go with the wrx fenders?
$65 is very fair!![]()

Added a new fun element to the car, plus the shift feels solid and instant 70%less travel then stock.Nice rims! Bet you're enjoying that short shifter![]()
Thanks an hopefully more to come in the near future got some things in the works.Everything turned out great especially the fender and summer wheels. I just recently installed the Kartboy short throw shifter into my car and love the difference in the shifts. I would also highly recommend the Kartboy crossmember bushings and the Group N transmission mount. Those will make a very noticeable difference in the engine "bucking" or shaking. And it only takes about an hour to install them.
I see you got that headlight polished. Did you use the 3M polish compound I recommended? I wet sanded mine with 2,000 then polished it by hand with the 3m polish. Only took a few minutes.

I have had very similar results with all of the different products I have used. The 3M has sanding pads that attach to a dremel, but the other aspects of it are the same. Its all about the time and consistency you put in. The name of the game is sand down past the abrasions then use lighter and lighter grit till your almost using rubber, once you have a smooth finish slap on some polish/toothpaste and your done. Most kits also come with sealant to help the fight the hazing.I do headlights restorations at work - the professionals choose 3M too
I know I gotta quit being lazy and get out there. I just got a few new lenses and a polarizer filter to play with just been busy with life... soon though...Looks awesome, and yeah do more pictures, I love your pics on the first page![]()
