The exhaust fell off my car today... Hoping the Alpine will have less reliability issues! I'll be at the test tonight.

I see what you did there ;) mine fell off near the manifold so it kept digging into the road :c almost passed out because of the fumes too!

What kind of track boundaries you're using at LeMans (Sarthe 2005)?

They are pretty much the same as in WRS. You can go over the white line at Mulsanne and the rest is basically 2 wheels inside white line or on curbs. It's the 2005 without chicanes, so there's a lot less where you actually could shortcut. ;)

Ok, thx. Yeah track has it's natural boundaries (grass) better than 2009 track.

What to expect for the 8th Le Mans Classic?

Close qualifying?
Pack racing?
New winners?

Any other suggestions?

At least I have my controller for this attempt at Le Mans, if I was still stuck with my wheel I think I'd be in trouble.

Circuit De La Sarthe: A Retrospective:

On Gran Turismo 5 I have created and participated in many events. Touring Cars, modern Grand Touring, NASCAR, V8 super sports, and more... yet I always rank the World Sportscar Championship now at the top. The variety of cars, the relaxed atmosphere, the fantastic racing, but for one reason more than anything else... it has the showpiece of Le Mans. And it is made every season into a Classic.

The 2005 variant of Circuit De La Sarthe is as close as one can get on Gran Turismo 5 to the older versions of La Sarthe. Gravel traps line the track and barriers are very close, catching the unwary. However, Hunaderies, the Mulsanne Straight is also in it's full unmatched glory. Driving at speed down it is an absolute rush, and in the V8 Ford MK IV I have used for well over 15k+miles (real number could be even double that!), the noise, the bumps in the road trying to alter your course, the speed, it adds up to a fantastic experience.

That experience is for the final time on Gran Turismo 5, going to be lived this weekend, for an eighth time. It is a long time since Le Mans was a meager 24 laps, or 36 laps when it became 500 kilometres. Now it has grown. La Sarthe now doesn't run to distance restrictions, it is it's own animal. 50 laps of the circuit take little over 3 hours. The majority is run full throttle the whole way around, leading to an event which has almost no let up for competitors.

Tomorrow 16 drivers will line up against the pit wall, engine's on there motors idling and ticking away. Then when the flag drops, the loudest noise in all of racing, around 6,000hp shall be unleashed onto the fabled tarmac. 3 hours later, the greats shall be crowned, there place in history alongside past legends cemented.

*Was a 24 lap event part of the World Sportscar Masters
**Was run to 500 kilometres.

"An event with almost no let up for drivers"

Except for 50% of the lap when driving straight.

Edit: the first le mans classic was the best just for the last lap when Sumo ran out of fuel, Furi ran out of tyres and I almost caught up after pitting a lap previous.

 Sumo saving down Mulsanne, I caught him at Indianapolis, spun into gravel and avoided damage, and he lost all drive out of Arnage

I finished 3rd twice in the Le Mans Classic. WSC 1 and 2. WSC 3 I sat in the pits a good bit while I ate my lunch...

given my previous performance both during this season and at Le Mans, I'd say I'm in with a good shot at 3rd...

Team Ford carried out a successful test at La Sarthe ahead of the 8th Le Mans CLassic. This included Sparkytooth, who's WSC debut will come on the biggest stage replacing RedPartyHat, who was unable to raise the budget to race.

Going to a family thing tomorrow. No race for me. But have arranged for a 100% chance of my participation in the next few races. :)
