Furi already said it. The E-Type is still the fastest on straights, but without the ECU providing additional advantages in acceleration, this only comes out on tracks where you reach speeds in excess of 250km/h and it takes a lot longer to get there. Instead, it got a lot more predictable in corners with the fixed suspension. (similar for the Stratos, which is much less of a monster now)This remains to be seen especially at the likes of Le Mans, Monza and Pescara. Oh and what has been done about the Alpine?
Alpine doesn't have an ECU anymore. Been that way since Le Mans.
Basically top speed has dropped and acceleration isn't quite as good.
Correct. The Alpine lost about 5km/h in top speed and on acceleration with last season's spec-change. Tested it extensively and it's well within BoP now.
Please note though that a BoP cannot make all cars equal on all tracks. Of course there will be cars that have an advantage on the fastest tracks (Le Mans, Pescara) or on the slower tracks (Eiger, Nürburgring). There will be cars on either kind of track that will have less chances to win there than others.
Nevertheless, on tracks like Daytona, Spa and Monza (surprisingly) there is very little between these cars. In my testing at Daytona there was less than 0.5s between all cars, so no matter which car someone picks, they should have a fighting chance with it. Whichever car you pick, you have to be aware though that you will have it tough on some track during the season, and it's up to you to choose which, and nobody else to blame, if you pick the wrong car. And it's part of the fun too in a series like this, that even if you can't win a certain race, to make the best out of your and the car's abilities. 👍
