X1 Prototype- WOW!

May be X1 is a real-possible car according physics rules, but do we have such technologies and materials on Earth to construct all ultimate parts of this ultimate car right now? - suspension, tire rubber, brake discs, CVT trasmission etc.
And what about stiffness and durability of these car parts in such extreme longitudinal & lateral accelerations?
So I prefer to think that this is just a game

Well except tires everything else is doable..for appropriate amount of money. It's sad to even think how this beast would be limited with tires..

Carbon fibre is a very strong material, you know. So is kevlar.

Also, it doesn't have CVT.

I'm getting tired of this now. The Red Bull X1 DOES NOT have a gas turbine engine, NOR does it have CVT. Those were just rumors made up by a magazine. We've ehard the car and seen the stats, and it does not sound live a CVT, gas turbine engine.

I like how some people were all negative to the fact of the x1 was made in GT5, saying " it's some F-Zero bull and what not and it's a waste of time for PD, and it wont be made in real life..blahblah." and then you get this magazine. :)

This is some amazing stuff.

Correct, Newey even says it's unlikely they'd ever make it in the text.

About the RB6, they might be able to stick that in the game, and they'd probably want to if possible, but there could be licence restrictions while this season is still going.

I'm not sure it could be thrown into GT5 (unless as a "Update" and not as a patch), seems far too late to sqeeze one more since the discs have already been printed.

It's the principle that they are taking an idea that derived from a game this far. It's a stepping stone for the potential of this project, and future projects not just for games, but furthering the technology and progression of racing and stepping towards the boundries of physics.

It's like hey cool Star Wars created an idea of a 3D projected hologram, now that's become a reality.

It's ap laster model. And that's an RB5 in the garage over there. But it doesn't mean anything. I'd expect to see one if I went to RB's garage.

The engine and tires would die before anything else.

They're making a real one?! :D

It's just a model. To even make it with half the tech would cost a fortune, let alone to do every single thing to replicate the car in the metal.

Then there's the fact that they'd need to develop a series of braces/restraints as well as a regimented physical program just so drivers could survive 10 laps in the car.

That hasn't happened in a very long time now. And the rear wing colapsing would be as a result of the bolts, or whatever keeps the wing in place, failing.

So in other words, it can be done. Just would cost substantially alot, something I'm pretty sure Red Bull could afford with that big empire of theirs.

They probably could, but it would be built after a million screaming fans have raced it on their PS3's. Until then, they're still a company and they don't wanna put a lot of eggs in the X1 basket only to have the thing be un-drivable or have nobody give a hoot.

It's not up to RBR when it comes to licensing their F1 cars. It's Ecclestone and the governing FIA body. The individual teams do not have the say on licensing the cars. As far as I know, the 2010 F1 license belongs to Codemasters alone.

This is nice, They're building the car for real. i wounder if it will do what it has done in GT.

Take of all the livery and anything having to do with F1 and I'm sure they'll have no trouble putting in the RB6 in the game.
