Well of course you only see a couple pop up, you only had 3 friends online playing the same game as you. Now imagine 33 friends online at the same time and you will see what some of us are going through. And I never said it ruined the experience.

And I never called you a liar, again contradicting what I say. If you re-read what was said above in post #48 you would clearly see you were indeed wrong, BUT you cleared it up with the next reply. Which I pointed that out and agreed with you. Dont get so defensive and read the replies before you post.

The other information you posted has been helpful and appreciated, but even you can admit the messages "only popping up if they are playing the same game as you" was incorrect until you cleared it up with the next reply. I just dont want the notifications about people playing the same game as me popping up all the time.

Now getting back on track. I do like everything else about the dashboard update. Very clean look, loads a lot faster.

@Camaroboy: You should check the settings on your dash. I know the pop-ups can be disabled when you're watching video, and also some other related stuff, which I can't recall right now. Perhaps there's an option to disable them after all...

The only option I found was to disable them completely which I dont want to do. I like knowing when my friends get online but dont need another pop up telling me they are playing the same game as me. I will however disable my beacons immediately to help remove even more notifications. Overall I do like the new dash a lot. Much better than it has ever been. Its actually very similar to the PS3 dash in a good way.

Can't say I like the new look, seems just as difficult as it was before to get to where you wanted to go. Bing search is nice to find stuff on the marketplace though.

I see they also messed with the Netflix app making it cluttered and slow, it was perfectly fine before, why change it? They did the same with the PS3 app(Not sure if it's Netflix or the Sony/Microsoft that make the app).

I had 17 friends online last night and never had a problem, again out of 17 only 3 were playing skyrim and I never had any beacons set, besides tha pop ups for people coming online I had 3 further pop ups.

I never condradicted anything you said, All I did was explain exactly how the new update and its features worked.

You were talking about freezing issues and how "you could not believe beta testers never picked up on this as a potential problem" if you knew anything about beta testing it would be to test whats in front of you not whats a potential and can I just say i've never not once in 6 years gaming on live on the 360 encountered a freezing issue with a pop up.

First I get a message saying they are online, then I get a message shortly later saying they "started playing a certain game". Honestly I really do not need to have 2 messages pop up per person. And thats not even including the beacon messages.

You said not including beacons hence my reply said it ONLY gave you pop ups from someone playing the same game.

By the time of my next post I realised that beacons must be what was causing your issue.

No I was not incorrect as you had said it was nothing to do with beacons as stated earlier.

I just dont want the notifications about people playing the same game as me popping up all the time.

Cannot help you with this part as I do not know of a way to turn them off.



I'm not here for some petty argument (especially not with you Camaroboy), I told you how the system worked and you didnt like the way it works - thats the bottom line, I never gave any false information.

Forza 4 will save to the cloud.

I imagine you will have to 'move' the save as in the past ive read horror stories about copying FM saves.

Local copy doesnt back up to the cloud which is extremely disappointing - this is what I imagined it was for but as we know some games you cant 'copy' saves and in forza's case copying can be disasterous. When you have a save game in the cloud and you switch to a different console and use the cloud as storage device the cloud save syncs.

And as you also mentioned this leaves you absolutely well and truly stuck if for some reason you arent able to connect to xbox live or if live is down - maybe you wont be able to get your cloud save - as this hasnt happened to me yet I cant really comment but I do see it as a vulnerability.

dont use cloud for forza 4 i have just lost mine.. had to start again...
