Wow. I didn't expect conversions! Well, since you can do these, then I guess you can do the same with the GT3 Demo tracks right? Maybe you can do the SSR11 or Super Speedway, both with their old layouts (Speedway was like the GT2 one)

What demo has old Speedway? (And what is SSR11? I don't really play GT alot :dopey:)

Very interesting...

When you port the cars, is it just the model data you're porting? Or is it also including the car codes?

That brick car is Sample 006 I believe, it'll appear as spheres in-game. It does the same thing in the GT3 PAL demo.

So is it possible, officer Tenpenny (tankuroded)?

I have no idea at this time. :indiff:

I don't have that :(
Also, GT 2000 cars are not working in GT3...

That's because GT2000 (I assume you mean that PlayStation Festival 2000 demo, right?) uses different models and ways to treat them compared to GT3. A bit primitive way (compared to GT3), I say.

Have you tried to convert cars from other games, too? ;)

GT1, GT2, GT 2000, GT4 Prologue, GT4, TT, GT PSP - Doesn't work. (Tested)
GT3 Concept 2002 - Works (That means that all concepts will work?)

I don't have any GT3 demos so I can't test them. If somebody has them, please, send me download link so I can test them.

(Demos are free, this is not piracy...)

Only models becouse I don't know where car codes are stored at :( (If you know then please tell me)
In this case, I replaced Citroen Xsara with Lamborghini Diablo. That's the reason why I'm on rally track...

You can find the car codes and other codes like the track codes in the .id_db_idx files, inside the database folder. There's a EU and US version in there too.

I haven't looked at the files for the concept series, but I imagine it's the same as GT3.

How do you open this .db files? Hex or something else?
(Btw, I need handling, color and name codes but seems they are not in this file)

I always wanted to use my own car colors, do you know how colors are stored? RGBA or something else?

MAN I want to do these too, but I know nothing on these. Can someone show me a very simple tutorial? I want to try porting the SSR11 and the Super Speedway from GT3 Demo to the actual game!

Well, I would really like a download link for any demo that was made after GT 2000.

Xenn, on demo disc, can you open .VOL file using GT3Vol.exe? If you can that would make the whole process easier.

It can't be opened through GT3Vol unfortunately. Either due to different container size, or format differences.

To view the .db file, I use a program called Notepad++. You can get a hex viewer plugin for it which will allow to properly view that file.

Once you've got it to show, you'll want to view the file in 64-bit little endian format (In the right click menu). Then it should appear as intended. You can view as Big Endian if you want it to show like the PS2 would.

Still, I can't understand anything :( (It's not human readable)

Btw, do you have VOL reader/extractor for PSP version?

If it uses same engine, yes.

Awesome! :D One thing I should mention about the Diablo is the parts for it exist in the PAL version of GT3 but the body was replaced with a Daihatsu Cuore body, like the one below. ;)

Hope this helps! :)

Curious but can port stuff from GT2 demo to GT2?

There really isn't anything to read when it comes to human readable language.

It's all the code values the game will use. For example...

Here's the car base for the Corvette Z06: 74D65562 8606B1AA

The code is two 4 digit values. In the .db files, they'll appear like this 74D655628606B1AA.

You can use a program called GT3GEdit to check out what codes each car has. It supports GT3/GTC '01/GTC '02.

It'll show the values like this though, so just a heads up: 8606B1AA 74D65562

Unfortunately there is no .VOL extractor for PSP version. I don't think anyone has tried yet.

Nobody has managed to repack the GT2.VOL file, and there is no such tool to do so. Ever. :( :indiff:

You don't need VOL rebuilder, lol... (I replaced GT3 music with my own without rebuilder, only by Hex editing)

Xenn, I saw your GT2 demo, does it have .VOL files like GT2 or .DAT files like GT1?

(Update: If it has .VOL files, can they be opened with GT2Vol?)

If it uses .VOL then I can try to port this track...

All of the GT2 versions use the .VOL files, yes.

I'm not aware of any versions that don't use .VOL.

Yes I was about to say that! I have always wanted to drive my Escudo on that one! :dopey:
Thank you very much, now I have fully ported Diablo from NTSC to PAL! <3 (Including car codes!)
With the proper parts?
i'd like to see the demo tracks xenn found that aren't in any game like the mini oval and figure 8.
I want them all! :dopey:

The track codes do exist for most of the beta tracks, just their files are missing, or replaced with Romes data.
