Yaris @ Deep Forest Econo Enduro *mcrc* congrats @ Litchi !! :D

Thanks for letting us know!

I quit Fifa when I seen your message, then quickly setup my wheel and stuck in gt5. Thinking I might just make this then bam ERROR,ERROR ahhhhhhhhh ...gutted. My ps3 is so fat and old , anyway goodluck guys have a good one đź‘Ť.

Now it's working .......

What? Now I can't re-join? Why?
Come on, I reserved a damn spot!

Entering the pit, it glitches putting me at least 15 seconds behind. I'm out, can't be bothered racing alone in these cars.

Great racing, had some real fun with dabneyd and in the end aceboy :) Finally ended up in the same place I started 7th.

I didn't have the race I was hoping for. Had an accident on lap 22 with Jammy and paul on the last few corners. I was on the inside trying to re-gain 4th place on the banked left turn, a tap on the left causes Jammy to go a bit wide from what I could see. For the next left hander he came back in for the apex where I was and I just happened to catch his left panel, sending him into a spin and also taking paul with him.

Jammy, paul; if you're reading this then I know you probably want to kill me for that and I will admit I could have done more to prevent this accident but it was never intentional :scared: . Sincere apologies to everyone.

Yes, it was indeed a great combo track + car.

I think we should race this car again on another challenging track. Some ideas:
Trial mountain, Grand Valley, Autumn ring, Nurburgring GP, Suzuka, Motegi, Rome, Cape South

On the other hand, I believe we should think about using penalty. For two reasons:

1) That will make an end on agressive driving
2) On several tracks, you can win too many time by grass cutting, like on Deep Forest in the last corner. If penalty is on, errors in the last corner which permit to gain time will be sanctionned.

It would put an end to overly aggressive driving but you do have the odd unfair penalty from the game. I would also like to see more races using this car, as I was very disappointed with what happened today.

I was even worse .... I could do the sprint race earlier, although got tapped and end up in the pit, then after the room resets, I had to rejoin twice, I could see everyone smoothly, no lag, but always end up in black screen on the 1st corner :( and it's definitely not because of we had conflict in network Watermelon, I did some races at your lo pp shuffle before, you were the host, no problems there .... bizarre.

I feel terrible about Ridox2JZGTE!!!
It's beginning to feel like the conflict is with me. :( :( :(
I rebooted the ps3, cleared the cache, etc etc. Nat2 everything's supposedly okay...
I don't know why this happens with certain people.
We had a good time racing shuffle the other day... though there was some oddness... but that happens sometimes.
:( :( :( I don't know what the problem is. And it makes me very disappointed. :grumpy:

Sorry to dabneyd about getting temp locked out. đź‘Ž
This was very nervous-making for me having this full a grid, to be honest. I'm not accustomed to it. I'm starting to appreciate why aceboy127 is capping the Oval Racing Series sign-ups. (see signature for link asap if you're interested - because he's capping the sign ups! and I won't be arguing with him about that anymore! LOL)

From now on I'm going to put everyone who's after #12 as "reserve" status, to be sure.
Not like this will happen again, as I'm sure it was a fluke.

@ Joshua1994 : glitch in the pit? What kind of glitch?
Was it the glitch where you went in too fast and it failed to repair your damage? I meant to look to see what happened to you on the replay, but forgot, due to reviewing other drivers.

RE PENALTY SYSTEM:
I hate ghosting, which is why in a private lounge GTPlanet organized race I think we should have the luxury of not having to use the flawed game penalty system... which unfortunately even with it on - it doesn't penalize the concrete on Deep Forest đź‘Ž, nor does it penalize mowing the grass on the last turn! :boggled: In fact, it doesn't even penalize mowing the grass cutting the INSIDE of the last corner on Deep Forest.

Then you have a track like Sarthe that with weak penalties sometimes you get a penalty while 2 wheels are clearly on the curbing!

That said...
I obviously was NOT clear enough about this rule:
Shorting the track is strictly prohibited, (must have 2 wheels on the tarmac)

I will now be updating the rules to make this more clear that "shorting the track" INCLUDES "going wide" mowing the grass.

I'm not handing out penalties for it. But I'll just say this to everyone who participated.

1) I saw WAY too much accidental scooting over the concrete & on the left concrete in Tunnel #1, in the replay, by several racers. In each instance that *I* reviewed, it looked unintentional. So I don't think anyone was "dirty". Nevertheless, I think more caution could be taken to prevent it.

2) I saw way way way WAY too much mowing the grass on the last turn. And mowing the grass (or off-roading in the dirt @ Laguna Seca for instance) is a BIG PET PEEVE OF MINE.
Everyone has an off once in awhile. But I do think some of that grass mowing on the last turn was, if not consciously deliberately dirty driving... it was too prevalent & often to be called "mere accidents".

In the spirit of good sportsmanship and the GTP OLR, I would like to apologize for not making this clearer from the outset in the additional posted race event rules. I will be updating other race OPs to make this more clear. đź‘Ť And I hope everyone will cooperate in supporting me with this. đź‘Ť

I hesitate to make too many specific rules, simply because it sometimes invites the unscrupulous to find ways to "game the rules".
But I think this is a point which could have been made clearer, and will be from now on.
I will thank you for your patience and cooperation.

As for the race incident involving a contact incident between 3 cars, the matter is being reviewed & considered, by myself, and a couple of stewards & racers who were not involved in the incident at all, and not involved with those particular drivers, nor in competition for position with them.
Anything further specific on this matter will be communicated PRIVATELY, as per the GTP AUP. đź‘Ť
Results will be held pending the steward review & consideration.

Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions, concerns, or complaints regarding any specific incidents. đź‘Ť

And if there is enough interest in another race like this with these cars, I'm game. :)
I particularly like the idea of racing it at Motegi! :D

No worries there Watermelon, it might just be a fluke, there was no problem when I joined your lo pp shuffle room. Oh, well, there is still another race, another day, keep up the good work, you are a great host :)

I'm really hoping it's a fluke. Or maybe just the combination of many drivers, and both of us. Or something.
My shuffle room was a lobby not a lounge... I have NO CLUE though whether that makes a difference at all? The lobby was NOT fixed host... so I'm thinking it SHOULD be the same, no?

They both are the same I think, the only difference is with lounge, only friends can join. Non fixed should pose no issues, even better with fixed host, but fixed needs a very fast and reliable internet connection for the host to stay lag and error free.
It might be with one of the other drivers, remember before I tried to rejoin, some other driver could not see me and you can't see me as well, after I rejoin, the lounge might have been refreshed, I can see everyone, still smooth, but I got disconnected because certain driver is not compatible?
So it might not be a one time only, due to the variety of players, incompatibility will pop it's ugly head time after time. The weird thing is all the driver name on the right are solid, no loading bar, which means the connection was stable and no lag. Might as well be a glitch, because I can stay in the pit, it will only disconnect me if I exit the pit.

Yeah the interesting part was that in the past usually "invisible cars" involved both parties not seeing each other.
Or so I thought. I only had it happen a couple of times.

And sometimes the "invisible" driver pops up when the race starts.
For example, after you left, and greest left (I still don't know if he got DC'd or what - felt bad about that too)...
Well aceboy127 came back. And I was waiting on him to start the race, and he said he was in the track, yet he did not appear in my list.
I started the race, and during the countdown, his car appeared at the back of the grid (he joined too late to qualify).
I saw all cars during the race.
:boggled:

From my standpoint, this was an excellent race. A three way battle with Mich and Litchi from flag to flag, exceptionally clean and respectful and we were literally nose to tail most of the time. My hat is off to both of them for the exceptional car control they both displayed throughout the race. A great finish in the last couple of corners and a great run up to the flag topped off a great day at the track!!!

As far as the connection issues go, this is the first race in the last few that I didn't see anyone lagging so from my standpoint the connections were pretty good. You're going to have a higher chance of connection issues and conflicts when you have large fields like this, it's pretty much inevitable.

Yesterday I saw cars racing away from me on the straight after passing over the grass in the last turn.

Penalty system is not perfect, but I think it is still better than what I saw and what Watermelon mentioned above. I believe it was not always intentional, it happened to me once or twice too, but I think there should be a rule to sanction it. Or the penalty, or another way.

Here a suggestion:

We could establish as a rule that everyone who goes off the track with 4 wheels (concrete, grass) has to leave the foot off the throttle for at least 3 seconds. That's like the rule in F1 that says you cannot have a fast sector time if you get with 4 wheels off the road.

Entered the pits infront of paul by about 3-4 seconds, didnt think these Yaris's were fast enough to even enter the pits too fast haha. Car dropped down to 12mph all the way to my pit lane, then refreshed to entrance and went back to normal.

MSTER232: i'm sure melon and other stewards will watch that incident and they'll judge it well. I'll accept what ever their decide. I don't want to kill you - i just want fair, clean and close racing by THE BOOK (OLR rules).

Thank you, Phouchg also mentioned that perhaps this should be clarified, and I think you're both correct.
I will add that to the "rules", to let off if your car breaches the boundaries of the track.

My mistake for assuming that was a known thing.
I did see a couple of people "let off throttle" for a few seconds after unintentionally skating over the concrete. That is the proper thing to do.

Accidents happen. Sometimes the car slips off the track. No one is expected to be perfect. I'm sure not perfect. We just want everyone to follow the protocol in the event of unintentional mistakes, so it is fair racing.

The important thing is not to "use" the off-road areas to gain advantage.

I've seen that.
I read MANY of the rulesets of other race series & clubs, and attempt to learn from others experience as well as my own.
More heads are better than one. ;)

In spirit I agree, but be careful what you wish for. Getting together for a casual race on a Sunday afternoon is fun. Being penalized under review because of technical rule violations of a few inches isn't so much fun, especially when you gain no advantage. For example, I'd be willing to bet I had 4 wheels on the concrete entering the first tunnel more than once, not to gain any advantage, but because I couldn't see the track while following Litchi and Mich. So techinically I might be up for a penalty for that, when nothing was gained and there wasn't much I could do about it. Once you make up hard and fast rules, they have to apply to everyone equally and without exception or they are meaningless and some people may end up with penalties for on track rules violations that gave them no advantage and are purely accidental.

On the other hand, clearly blatant and repeated attempts to gain an advantage by exiting the track boundary should not be something encouraged.

This is also a track by track type of thing. Not many tracks allow you to swing wide exiting a corner and retain grip like the last corner at Deep Forest, nor do many have wide concrete pads you can cross over to gain a better entry angle to the corner. If people are concerned about it, perhaps they should PM Watermelon with their particular track concerns well before a race so she can come up with some track specific guidelines for each event. The chicanes at Monza would be a good example, a huge amount of time can be gained by straightening them out.

I agree with Johnnypenso (

... in that I don't wish to create a tense environment where people are so worried about penalties that it interferes with enjoyment. (This is my problem with the in-game penalty system when it's for public points & standings. Too much risk of the wrong driver getting penalized & it seriously effecting their entire race, and putting a Debbie Downer wet blanket on the entire event.)

On the other hand, clearly blatant and repeated attempts to gain an advantage by exiting the track boundary should not be something encouraged.

Exactly. The amount of times it happens for a particular driver, IMHO, demonstrates what's going on.
If you do something by accident, and know it to be bad, you would of course not do it on the next lap. If the driver does it on subsequent laps, to my mind, that demonstrates that they see some advantage of it.
And like turbogeit says, that last turn at Deep Forest clearly is a spot where people can use "accident" off-roading to gain advantage. And that's not cool, and likely to make fellow racers ill-tempered.
Carless driving, recklessness, & aggressive risky maneuvers may result in post-race penalties, and will certainly result in your fellow racers being ill tempered.
This is clear, but if I should make it clearer, I will.

Others that come to mind are:
The chicane at Monte Carlo.
The bus stop at Daytona Road Course.
The out of bounds tarmac at Fuji.
The 1st couple & last couple of turns at Trial Mountain.

But I would hate these issues to prevent my racing at these tracks, as I like them. :grumpy:
(Well, not Monza. I really really stink at Monza.)

I still believe that the imperfections of the penalty system are less frustrating then what I saw on the replay. It's simple: if you keep all the time 4 wheels on the track and don't touch any other car, you don't get a penalty.

By the way, at Fuji and Daytona Bus Stop the penalty system is rather correct for off track racing.

Problem with the penalty system is you can get penalized through no fault of your own. Go through a corner side by side, leave plenty of room, the other guy doesn't, he forces you over the curbing and you have a 3 or 4 second penalty and your race for that particular position you were in, is effectively over. One can do that deliberately and make it look like an "accident" to game the system for an advantage as well. Happened to me many times.

It sounds great in theory but in practice not so good. Remember too Turbo, this is just one race. Punch will be keeping track of repeated violators and like any good woman, she never, ever, ever forgets when someone else is "wrong" or breaks the rules...lol.:scared:

Seriously, Punch is a fair but tough Race Director, clean racing is the primary objective always, above all else. Even I, Mr. Squeaky Clean of GT5, have been penalized by Punch and learned my lesson, the only penalty I've ever received in hundreds of online races...lol. This type of thing won't be allowed to continue, people who are repeat violators will be given plenty of opportunity to correct their ways but you can only do so much and some may eventually be uninvited if it continues so it will sort itself out over the course of a couple of events. đź‘Ťđź‘Ť

Oh no, he's not a mod.

I used that monkeywench post as an example of a wife freaking out about gt5.

That wouldn't happen around our house.
Indeed, I'm more often accused of making it "the house of gran turismo".

Edit: Of course I do feel for that wife, if truly her husband was being a rump about stuff & playing "too much" interfering with other things. But in a case like that I think it's silly to blame the game. :boggled: Frankly, I think there are worse things to be complaining about in a marriage. When you hear about spouses of some unfortunate people going out getting drunk, getting arrested, & having affairs... Put into perspective, a gt5 addiction surely is something a couple can work out & come to some sort of a compromise.

Sorry, I forgot all about the race, if you gave more, let me know by P.M. and I'll try to make it. Watermelon, I have some race suits for you, you may already have them, but they are your colors.
