They essentially opened Pandora's box when they allowed remote USB backups.
You can tell by the way they handled the GT5 Academy that PD/Sony have no direction and act reactively to "patch" things before thinking about whether or not it actually addresses the issue. It took them 5 years to release GT5, and the thought must have immediately been duping is a bad thing and is ruining all of our hard work over 5 years.
You get to a point in the game where it becomes stupid how many times you have to play an endurance event, over and over and over and over and over and over..... and the game becomes more about collecting cars, and ultimately the whole purpose of the game to drive these cars virtually.
The casual player will eventually draw the line and say this game is no longer worth playing if they have to spend over 1000 hours to accumulate virtual cars. Driving the same car over and over defeats the purpose of the game.
