They essentially opened Pandora's box when they allowed remote USB backups.
You can tell by the way they handled the GT5 Academy that PD/Sony have no direction and act reactively to "patch" things before thinking about whether or not it actually addresses the issue. It took them 5 years to release GT5, and the thought must have immediately been duping is a bad thing and is ruining all of our hard work over 5 years.

You get to a point in the game where it becomes stupid how many times you have to play an endurance event, over and over and over and over and over and over..... and the game becomes more about collecting cars, and ultimately the whole purpose of the game to drive these cars virtually.

The casual player will eventually draw the line and say this game is no longer worth playing if they have to spend over 1000 hours to accumulate virtual cars. Driving the same car over and over defeats the purpose of the game.

3. If it's the trading on e-bay, why didn't they go after or at least threaten the traders (e.g. for illegally trading PD's intellectual property)? AFAIK they didn't even post a warning.

It kills me that everyone freaks out about the e-bay issue and this site has a "strict no cash policy", but there is always an ad for a stealth model being sold on e-bay in the top left corner of every gtp page and no one seems to notice it.

Just plain illogical. :dunce:

Haha, now that is quite odd. I've never noticed it before since I usually have my adblocker on.

Good thing I got every car worth 1m+ =p. I also got my friend who just started a X2010, I warned him that it will make the game boring using it so early but he still wanted it lol.

I also think that duping and glitching isnt really a problem for the online "Economy" as you are not actually trading credits, just cars, kind of like a trading card game. Even though it "Could" be affecting the value of a car, its ALL the cars, so its technically not doing anything wrong if no cars are getting more expensive/harder to get. Also, if you dupe/glitch a car for offline purposes, such as collecting, then it just does not affect the community at all. Another factor could be online races, and yet that is not being affected, as users can set their own custom regulations in each race, and its a VERY small part of GT5 that a mere 5-10% of the community uses.

Even if there's no cash, it's still an economy. Flooding the market will make everyone get every car without any effort, and that essentially kills the game progress (in the way PD thinks it should be).

I don't see a problem with the restriction in itself, the problem is rather that the high level gameplay is lacking events and rewards sufficent enough to make people want to earn cars the legitimate way. I think that is the real reason why so many are against the patch.

A conflict (such as this) is like a tree. There's leaves, a trunk and roots. In this case, the patch 1.07 is the leaves, it is what we see and what we focus on. The trunk is the need for gamers to get the cars they want. it's what leads this issue to the conflicts of the patch. The roots to the conflict is the lack of sufficient events and rewards at the high levels of the game.

Now, we could cut off the leaves, we could lift the patch and have unrestricted trading of cars. But that wouldn't really be a good solution, because first of all it's rather complicated to duplicate cars, it's not like it's system that's integrated in the software. Second of all, there's a risk of losing gamesaves in the process, and third, if you're not willing to risk your gamesave, or if you simply don't know how to duplicate cars yourself, this fix doesn't help you in any way. A fourth problem is probably that PD wants you to work hard to get the specific cars in question...

We could cut off the trunk and say that, ok, all of us gamers, we don't need the cars we want anymore. But that doesn't work either, because we do want the cars and supressing a need will only make us grumpy in the long run and lead to new conflicts.

So why don't we focus on the roots to the problem? If we could fix the issue with unsufficient events and rewards in the high levels of the game, then everyone could go on and earn credits and purchase the +1 000 000 Cr cars in a legitimate way.

And voila, problem solved.

i got an idea for pd, why not make the level more useful than just for unlocking events like say you play a grind event (like indy) but your level is over 24 than you get a credit multiplier by how many levels over 24 you are like 25 gets .25 bonus, then 26 gets .5, 27 gets.75,etc. that way credits become easy to accumulate like earlier gt's

Ill be honest, earning money in gt5 for me is easy, you just need to grind, and for me it isnt really that gamebreaking, and multipliers for levels wouldnt be a right solution either, they COULD make a multiplier for the game in general (x2 maybe). There's also a problem for those who dont have a racing wheel, so we cant (its almost impossible) to get the X2010 carbon prototype, that is also a problem for a lot of people, hell, i'm close, but still couldnt get the S.Vettel in the special event. There will always be a certain amount of cars that people will find almost impossible to get, the X2010, the Ferrari F10 and F2007, and the Ferrari 330 p4, Ford Mark IV race car and the Jaguar XJ13. Could always add the X2010 color aswell (20 million Cr)

I am at work so can't check myself... is restriction already valid or can we still trade of >1mio cars?

Ah well **** happens!!!
still love the game!
no more trading cars 2 bad, gotta do some grinding 2 get my coloured X1.
don't see the big issue in here.
i think update 1.07 is a good one.
if you only want to collect cars what's the use of buying the game in the first place!
but hey that's just my opinion.

As a test I have just sent my other account a brand new miura (15million cr )it went fine so I waited 20 minutes until the reset (now the 4th) and sent a new (20million cr) X1back to my main account both were sent and received no problem.

Apparently it takes effect when all countries are on the 4th March... so at 2pm today.

It's still the 3rd in many countries until 2pm GMT on the 4th...

google time zones...

Maybe they just want to keep us guessing.. Due to thinking trading was over as of 3/3, I have now traded < 1 mil twice when I could have traded > 1 mil ... Doh!

I was kind of hoping they would lift the one per day per machine ********...

Kaz, you suck...

Well I'v read some posts about people saying that they are unable to send cars over 1 mil as of today. It seems that you can send cars over 1 mil between different accounts on the same PS3. Not sure however as I have not tried this but I'v read a few posts saying this.

That would be wonderful 👍👍

quick question ..... is the X2010 affected by this? im still waiting for mine from a trade.

The colored ones from the dealership for sure.

But i heard that the Prototype & the S.Vettel are still tradeable, because they are both priceless gift cars. :)

Who can confirm this?

a quick search will yield the method that current savvy GT5 drivers use to deal with the current state of affairs- earn $20m EVERY DAY(and major XP), its easy and even fun for a while. Kaz knows however so this goes away with the next update...hurry, get your billions now :D
