You Have to try Motion Control Steering

After using both steering control methods, what will you permanently use in GT Sport?

Compaired to other sixaxis supported racers, so far this is the best. I tried last night and was blown away. After setting sensitivity to 1, it was gravy. Takes a min, but is a good different way to play for imersion. I was even using cockpit over bumper cam. I recommend for short races if using.

Anyone else finding that the steering is self straightening on some corner exit regardless of what you do with the controller!?!?

No assists on apart from ABS btw

No, I don't...how do you tilt it?

Like holding a steering wheel.....................

Right try it on Brands full, turn 4 left hand up hill as soon as on the throttle at apex the steering in car straightens on it's own regardless of what I do with the controller.

I mostly use my new G29 but wanted to try motion control for when I don't want to set the wheel up as I play in living room

I’m loving it as is. I have never used a wheel, so I can’t compare. However, motion control is definitely better than joysticks for me.
Sorry

That is the speed steering. All games have it. But gran turismo sport does not allow you to adjust it. I think it has gotten more speed steer since the demo.

Speed steering controlles how mutch you can turn the wheels in the game, based on the speed. It also makes your input less sensitive. Some real cars actually have it too. Some BMW etc.

So you are right. Acceleration out of a corner tilting at max will make the wheel move towards the center.

Gt sports have a mutch more advanced system for all this then say assetto, which is pure.

You can also notice that when you correct an oversteer, the speedsteering is less then if you did not need to correct oversteering.

This is nothing new either. Forza 4 did it. And maby even older games then that.

I always feel like these motion controls need a stand that's bolted to a table so you have an actual pivot point like on a real car...

Free floating steering always felt weird to me.

Mates, what should be the sensitivity setting for the motion control? I played it for the 1st time yesterday & it felt unreal because have spent so many years playing GT4/5/6 with controller.

Is there any car & track combo to get started with to get the feel as well? And please any settings change for the controller?

Update - By default, the sensitivity is at 0. When I increased it, it got better. 4 or 5 is the setting I most prefer.

Being able to use the motion function of the DualShock 4 for steering is awesome I have to say.

Benefits are that it enables you to have more finesse with your steering and you always have full access to the whole range of steering motion regardless of your speed while driving, countersteering is arguably a lot easier and instant too! It just feels a lot more ‘direct’, hard to explain.

Lastly, it frees up your left analog stick for any extra button assignments you may want to map to that.

Feels weird for a while but all I’m saying is that it’s worth giving a try for a few hours until you start to get a feel for it. Personally I’m loving it.
I've said before and I'll say it again. I bought GT SPORT specifically because of motion control. 10 months later I can say I'll never play racing games with stick again.

I started with licenses and Sunday racing. From there you have to work out what's best for you. For gr2 and above I want high sensitivity. Gr3 and 4 depends on the car. Below I'll usually go with 1-3

I use highest sensitivity at 7 on most cars, but on cars like RedbullX I have to turn it down a little because it is a bit too sensitive.

Maybe try some N100-N300, then some Gr4 and later Gr3 and faster. Tracks probably lago maggiore and suzuka.

Suzuka is a great place to start. You'll have to drive and find the setup you're most comfortable with. Remember you just have to turn the pad 90% degrees to get full lock.
Just drive and a get a feel for it. Even now I'm tweaking the sensitivity depending on the car and paying attention to my own driving. Maybe take a gr b car on a dirt track to really soak it in

Motion steering is the best! I would never use the thumbsticks now as for one they are so dumbed down, with motion steering you can actually control the car. I thought it was a gimmick at first but once I got used to it there is no going back if you don't own a wheel.

I decided to try motion control again after having a poor experience. I'd say it's better than what I expected: no input lag, finer steering. The problem is that in some corners I overcook it, and you may have to use cockpit cam to know what is the wheel actually doing. The other problem that I had is that it feels really floaty because there's obviously no ffb, so that's why using cockpit view may be more intuitive. I also don't know how to hold it properly to be less tired, but still have a good performance. But considering that in 3 hours I got close to years of experience on the stick, it's pretty good. On some sections I was even faster than on the stick, although not by much.

Then I took the new Ruf to the Nordschleife... that was awful! I spin at every corner and have to be really careful with the throttle, more than on the stick. But I guess that's the price for realism.

I hold the Controller like if I were playing with analog sticks. The sensor works just fine. Don't need to hold it like an actual wheel
