I had no idea there was a Group 5 version of the DeTomaso Pantera, called the GTX.

I think it was some custom one off thing. I don't think it was a race car, I think it was some crazy road car build.

Well guys. I think I've figured it out. And it's a Honda Acty.

Chassis code HA3, original images say 'acty' in their address. Kei car based as these builds usually are. I could be wrong though.

Not sure. The wheelbase looks off. K4GP cars are usually 3/5 scale, that looks slightly bigger. The cockpit also seems unusually low, it would certainly fail the 130/45x25 Group C measurements.

It would help if the blog it had originated from wasn't down. I can only go by what I have found, and potentially predates K4GP. HA3 is the chassis code to the Honda Acty, all original images are labeled "acty" so I just put 2 and 2 together.

I think it's just something someone felt like making one day, using parts from multiple cars.

Luigi colani did a Viper.

Well, it's very... round, even moreso than the normal Viper. Then again, it is a Colani design, so that should not be surprising to anyone including me.

That frontend, however, is rather bug-eyed. Actually, it's very bug-eyed; those headlights are one of the biggest pair of headlights I've ever seen. And the car is rather happy about it, if you look at it from the front...

BT -> So I stepped in to SEMA this week, and I didn't know that the 5th-gen Viper had a roadster, until I saw one in person!!!

^ Apologies for the dump, but since I'll never see a Viper of this kind anymore...might as well, right? :)

1934-1939 Mercedes-Benz G4 (W31)

Yes, a 1930s Mercedes-Benz off-roader. Three axles, three rows of seating. Choice of engines were 5.0L, 5.3L or a 5.4L I8. Drivetrain was selectable; 4WD at the rear or a full-on 6x6.

57 were produced and they were designed as staff cars for the Wehrmacht. The army found that they were too expensive so the ruling Nazi Party used them instead.

Watching a 1987 issue of Best Motoring, there was a feature on the 1987 Tokyo Motor Show:

Now that's a list of "unique and futuristic concept ideas 101" right there, and a great proof of the Japanese's creativity at that too.

The Subaru ACX-II is basically what the Alcyone XT coupe would eventually become, the Jo-car looks like a car which Noddy would be confortable in and the Hanako is a surprisingly cute kei-coupe, it's a shame that it never became a production car, I'd sure buy it (I am a sucker for small Japanese coupes, in case you didn't know). Although I could say that it has a few Vivio genes somewhere...

And Daihatsu's... man, if the TA-X80 is anything to go by, then their Vision GT could be something special for the brand. It's definitely not the sort of car you expect from a manufacturer who focuses mostly on small city cars, I can say that much.
