Meh, couldn't be bothered about that car. If its such an eco friendly car, it should have outsold the Prius by now..... A big fail if you ask me...

Well, nobody did ask you to rate the success of this car. It's a concept car - which is, ironically, a concept you don't seem to understand. :P

Actually a rather neat thing - I think I'd drive it, it'd probably be cheap on the gas and insurance as well.

Well, CERV I was an opern-wheeled race-car. It is actually quite heavy when you consider that the BRM P261 had a slightly smaller V-8 engine and weighed 466kg.

Still cool. How many open wheeler GM cars can you think of?

That is a chassis? Chevrolet engines powered Lola Indy cars in the 1990s.

Nah, I guess I was looking for actual GM branded cars, like the Chevy. Otherwise I could think of an open-wheeler myself powered by a GM engine. (Formula Holdens).

actually the cerv II you posted is the grand sport II

which looks just as good nakee :D

Okay.......... But why wasn't it put into production if it was such a good idea? But then, if I really look at it again, it does look better than a SMART (and probably eco friendlier too!)..... :dopey:

stumpydino: Thanks for the CERV IV pics. 👍 But it was really weird to read that the CERV IV was front engine rather than the midship mount that other CERV was. But then again, they did spend a lot on it for development. Also, thanks for correcting on the CERV II picture. I really just did a google search on it and found that. But wow, the Grand Sport II looks way better than the CERV II.....

superberkut: Nice find on the Spectre R42. Looks really modern for its time and probably what an American supercar would look like. Got a potential to be a future race car as well...... 👍

I prefer the smart to that Twingo-based monstrosity. It looks like someone's stapled a cardboard body over a Twingo frame. A bit like one of those Chinese/Indian rip of cars that don't even get one star in Euro NCAP crash tests.

No...it was Subaru which made it.
In the same time Subaru made a limited edition of Impreza Sport Wagon called CasaBlanca, which had a unique front and rear end treatment, and the Gravel Express which came with the WRX turbocharged engine.

TO THE QUESTIONABLE MODIFICATIONS THREAD!!!!

Yee-IKES!!! That is just....those crazy Japanese!! No wonder it didn't last long...

You can see where the original Impreza headlights were, too.

Speaking of headlights:

Not much of a new car, but I had no idea that this headlight treatment was applied to Corvette GS racers.

I'd rather not click for more pics cheers turbs, that thing looks like a lancia, and not the good kind.

I saw this on the freeway today with Canadian plates:

Nissan X-Trail. I'm guessing that this is just one of those cars designed for a different market that made it to Canada?

According to Wiki:

In Canada, it is positioned below the truck-based Xterra. The X-Trail did not arrive in the Canadian market before 2005. The X-Trail was only sold in Canada for the 2005 and 2006 model years. Its successor, the 2008 Nissan Rogue, which shares the same platform as the 2008-present X-Trail, will appear in North America, and will be very similar to the Qashqai that was available in Europe and elsewhere from early 2007. Nissan Canada's website removed the X-Trail as of September 2007 to promote the new Rogue.

Fairly common and well known in Australia.

Not much of a new car, but I had no idea that this headlight treatment was applied to Corvette GS racers.

Like most race cars of the period, it's unlikely that any two Corvette GS racers looked exactly alike. The cars were modified to suit whatever race they were going to be entered into. The headlighted cars were probably built to run in the Daytona 24hr and the like.

I'm fairly certain that all GS corvettes had those headlights though. They were just covered for races that didn't need them.

Those are the only five cars left, right? (thanks for the information, by the way)

I am sure I saw one with flip-up lights, unless that was an L88.

Funny enough I saw one of those in Windsor on Saturday and though "what the hell is that?".

there were only 5 built, there were plenty of kits built to make any C2 look similar to a GS though, and those would likely retain the C2s flip up headlights. L88 is also extremely rare, and only applies to 67 C2s and some early C3s.

Ah, I have seen a couple of Gravel Express WRX's here. I thought it was a pretty cool name, but imagined the owners had made as part of a Scooby club or something. Had no idea it came from the factory. You learn something new every day!
