Funny enough I saw one of those in Windsor on Saturday and though "what the hell is that?".

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't have thought "Canadian," being three hours from the border until I saw the license plates. Maybe I should look into buying a car up there, keeping it registered there and just driving it around here just for the exclusivity.

1986-1989 Ford Ranger GT

RGT_Ad.JPG

Mid-year 1986 saw the introduction of the Ranger GT. Only available as a standard cab short bed, it had the 2.9 L Cologne V6 with either a 5-speed Toyo Kogyo manual transmission or an optional A4LD automatic transmission putting power to a Traction-Lok differential with a 3.73 gear ratio. Front and rear sway bars were installed, and 14x6 aluminum wheels with 215/70-14 Goodyear Eagle performance tires completed the package.

Inside, the truck was equipped with special bucket seats, full instrument cluster, an optional center console, tilt wheel, cruise control, power windows and locks, and a sliding rear window.

A long bed option was added in 1987 and a new ground effects package was introduced in 1988 that included a front bumper cover with Marchal fog lights.

1989, sadly was the last year for the GT option. It had the exact same ground effects kit as the 1988 as well as the same options list. There were rumors that for 1990, Ford was going to install the 3.0L SHO V-6. They even went as far as to build one and let a couple of magazines play with it. It never came to be though.

These vehicles were offered in Red, White or Blue.

While we're on Zagatos, how about the Zagato rebody of the Lancia Fulvia?

I only discovered these last year, when I overtook one on the motorway. Got really close before I realised it was a coachbuilt and not a kit car. IMO, not as pretty as the standard Fulvia, but interesting.

Wouldn't mind a road legal one in red!

I've noticed that the yellow F40 'spider' is for sale at the moment in one of the classic car mags. Doesn't give a price but i bet it's worth substantially more than the 180k it was offered as back in 05.

Yes, I just bought the latest issue of Classic and Sportscar. That's where I saw it. It's in my bathroom right now (the mag not the '40) and I seem to remember that the car now has full headlights. There are a couple of tasty Lotus 'Tinas in there too I noticed...

it's been a long long time since I've seen the first Herbie movie but I was always under the impression that it was a lambo 350 or 400GT he bought due to a line where someone mentions the lamborghini he just bought... (I could be way off though)

EDIT: OOOOH thorndykes yellow race car, I was thinking about the red car that jim buys and which is destroyed by herbie

Pontiac Grand Prix GTX
Linky

My friend just picked one up and when he told me about it, I didn't believe him and thought he misread and it was just a GTP, but when I saw it I was surprised. Then I found the above article and it appears to just be a GTP, but with a working Ram Air hood, and badges. You could also get a special sunroof, special wheels, hi-po exhaust, and Bilstein suspension.

It makes 250 hp (240+10 for the Ram Air) and let me tell you it can easily spin the tires and has a sweet 'charger whine on hard acceleration (as well as a cool digital boost gauge!) What's also cool is the GTX was done by SLP, who are known for the awesome SLP Firehawk Firebird.

In addition, the article has a picture of the 1995 GPX concept which had a 300hp supercharged V6, the Ram Air hood, wider fenders, and 9x18 wheels. Imagine GM making that beast back in the 90's!

You're both wrong, they're both ugly.:P

Mr Spd,

It is with great sympathy I must divulge that you are mistaken, and I regret to inform you that you have failed completely.

Yours in good faith,

I'm sorry, but it's been verified by Colorado University as a beautiful vehicle. It's official and everything. There are certificates.

Are these the same people that think the Buick Reatta was a design flop?

Edit: Oh, just to be sure I better put this in- "Whatever floats your boat man.:sly:"

Les Dunham makes them, I think. To be frank, it's a waste of both the Corvette chassis and El Dorado panels.
