Wow, I never knew that either! (twin turbo's being stock on F40's) Thanks for the info. I guess if I'd stuck with that car a little farther into my auto-interest years, I would've noted the small displacement v8 and the fact that it couldn't make that kind of power on its own. That being said, I'm not as surprised at seeing my vids of twin' F50's.. that 478hp and 24mpg spec is definetly a turbo pointer as well :) (thinking F40 again)
 
F50's didn't come twinturbo stock did they?, (sorry, I'm too lazy/busy to check and am too engrossed in "real" cars lately to know). As for F40's, I think they were quick enough with the little 8, prolly wouldn't've gotten such good milage with a 12 either, not to mention how could it hook under the 0-60 it already had? ;)
 
well the other night while jusr cruising around I stoped at Alf Barbagelo's car yard her in Wesetern Australia, now he is the agent over here for such cars as Ferrari , Maseratti, Jaguar and siting in the used car lot was a Damiler super 8.. now for those of you who dont know what the Damiler super 8 it is the luxury version of the Jaguar XJR it has a 4.0lt supercharged V8 its slightly longer and has more luxury features its a true 4 seater it has a centre consle in the rearand a better sound system to name a few things. this are is regarded as one of the fastest production cars in the world and in years to come will be a true classic, it was sell her for $144000 new it is $235000 so its nearly $100000 of the price what a bargin ... and I even liked the colour a very dark blue, now to confince the bank to give me the money I would even trade in the Jag for it.

Yes - the car was homologated to fit in with the abandoned Group B rules (the same rules the Porsche 959 was designed for) which heavily favoured turbo-charged engines.

i thought the 288 GTO was supposed to compete in Group B?

Toyota also had a 400hp MR2 they were gonna get out, and Audi had a 1000hp Quattro S1... :eek:
