Haha you know I dd think about doing something like that, I have some welding experience but I decided against it because I didn't want to FUBR the rig.

I built some pvc rigs in the past so I may do that with another pvc setup

Obviously that's a G25 and the screen is a 32" LG running at 1080p.

I've finally saved enough money to have my own dedicated GT5P/gaming setup (the pic above was from our bedroom). I have to say that the new Sharp Aquos is simply made for GT5P.

Hey Tagger you should check out some Spiral Wrap Tubing for your wiring

cable-spiral-wrap-cable-wire-tidy-management-kit.jpg

I did it on mine and the wires are just so clean, neat and out of the way now! I mounted the power brick for the G25 under the base plate of the pedals and separated just the power cord & USB so I can extend/use them easily! Here is a video of it so you could see instead of trying to picture it.

Thanks for the suggestions Oner. Obviously, the velcro cable straps I bought at Lowe's leave a tacky appearance. I've even considered cutting the pipes to allow for cable routing. But, I like your idea much better. Looks like another trip to Lowe's is in my near future.

What do you call the material that covers the arm rest? It's the same kind of material used on mouse pads. I need some of it with adhesive on the bottom side. I want to get some more of that and put it on the TV mounting surface to keep my remotes from moving around when I'm driving.

Edit: How did you mount the power brick? What material(s) did you use? Thanks.

Well quiz, having a manufactured chassis is nice. But, it doesn't make anyone any faster in the game. Look at some of the times posted by people who only use the six-axis. I can't compete with many of them on the track. It is more fun to race from a chassis using a decent wheel for me. I've tried it the other way and this is more fun. But, I'm no faster than I was before.:indiff:

Edit: Ok, I looked more closely at the picture you posted and I got a lawl out of the kenwood box supporting the left side of your stand. I hope I don't sound rude. If so, it's unintentional. But, that made me chuckle because I would destroy that if I used it. I'm sort of a big guy. And, when I race I get pretty physical with the gear when things are tight between me and another car. All that would be left is the table top the wheel and shifter are clamped onto. BTW, nice TV.👍

I think the material is like a neoprene type, I am sure you can probably find something on Ebay for that as I have seen a HUGE mouse pad that my friend used to make his girls motorcycle seat so you should be able to work it out! As for the power brick it was easy, I just modded 2 plastic tabs & zip ties to attach to the screws I used to hard mount the pedals!

Edit: Here is a site that sells 12x18 @ 4 different thicknesses that might help you out http://www.1stpads.com/sections/sizes.php

After quite some time of procastination, this is what i came up with...
CIMG2697.jpg

CIMG2696.jpg

Audio soon to come. And maybe a halfway decent wheel.

you all are professional. Look at my poor setup?! hahaha....

Just wait, I'll post a picture of my son's set up ;)

Before I got my Wheel Station and then Playseat, I hijacked my kid's "Whinny the Pooh":table. I had to use a Star Wars audio book to provide more of a flat surface under the table to give the clamps more to bind to ;)

i took the pictures and they are on my desktop but how do i insert them into the message without just being attachments???

Here are a couple of shots of my son's set up. His PSN ID is "Peetsuh", if you see him, you now know who he is. Lately, he's been playing COD4. There is also a glimpse of my set up, which I will post more thoughtfully later. I need to take more pictures.

The new TV when it came home. Behind it is the old RCA DLP. Which is considerably taller than the new Sammy flat panel display. I had to make a portable platform out of a 4' by 2' sheet of 1" plywood and 4 "blocks" made out of 19" 2x4. I will set it up when I take the new pictures. Hopefully, it can help someone out.

A view from behind my Tony Stewart Playseat. Notice how the focus is spot on :(

I'll get mine hold on :)

It's nothing fancy but this was my best option for my price budget XD I need to get a good chair lol,

Gee you guys all have these great setups and all I'm using is a flimsy card table, my g25 & an office chair :indiff:

Everyone starts somewhere. I don't have any pictures of it in use, but this is what I started with.

Pooh_3pc_set.jpg

No, I did not sit in a chair ;) I sat on the couch and because my knees where higher that the table, I had to rest the table on my knees while racing. Yeah, it got uncomfortable quick. After a few weeks of this, the keeper of the wallet let me get the Wheel Station.

Over on the PSU, early when GT4 came out, a couple of guys were using an Ab Roller turned upside down. Use whatever you can until you can move up to the next level. I commend you for being resourceful with what you have on hand. Don't feel bad about using an office chair, slap a Buttkicker on that puppy ;)

Paramore rocks!!!!

i like the table you have there :P i haven't decided whether ill buy something or perhaps have a go at building a stand. I've been looking at this http://wheelstandpro.com/ but i dunno if its worth that much money?

My current crappy set up is ok but the card table is too light so it moves around sometimes & my office chair isn't the most comfortable thing to sit in but it does its job.

The Wheel Stand Pro is pretty neat and simple. But, I can't imagine how they can justify a $200 price tag, and yet people say the Playseat is overpriced. If it's super lightweight, it will be easily tossed around due to instability.

To be blunt, that WSP is definitely over priced. Cool, innovative, and simple package, but not worth that $200 price by a long shot. Especially, when there are alternatives that are small stands at more than half the price. It's a hard sell man.

Thats what i thought as well, for the G25 compatible version it would cost me $289 which is asking a lot. Can you recommend any cheaper stands which would do the same job?

here's mine :) just got the obutto cockpit about a month ago

Wow that is so sweet, with it's own TV too. and that guy with the custom chair too is cool!!!

I can't believe I'm still playing with a controller! :( feels so old school lol. Jealous of you guys, but keep it up! :) 👍

Before:

(With my DFP on my lap)

After:

The only thing I can say is that it was definitely worth it. having no couch at home I could only play with the wheel on my lap and with this cockpit I came back to gt after being bored of it. I rediscovered (having played GT1 to GT4 with a controller) I could correct oversteer, that I could race next to someone without contact and even improve my lap times :dopey:

Yes, I highly recommend the Wheel Station as a great entry level stand for those that cannot build their own. It can fit behind a couch, in a closet, or under a bed. It is very cost effective. It worked fine for me for a few years until I wanted to go to the next level.

It's what my son is using. Notice the aluminum foil on the legs? In the second picture, you see the reason why ;) And he's buying a TV stand next pay day. The "red neck TV entertainment center" is going bye-bye. Another case of 'you use what you got until you can get better'.

I actually started with a DS2 and a formed bean bag chair that quickly lost it's shape. Which led to borrowing my kid's table.

Wow mate that's a lot sound power on top of you mate. That's awesome...but I still think that's too close from you. I would rather just leave the rear ones where they are, and take the front and middle put where your TV is. That way sound will be much better and clear.

Pretty cool what he did. I suggest sending a picture to Playseat and show them what mods you made. They are always appreciative of any feedback I have given since I've had mine.

Oh no don't get me wrong, I am jealous!! :P Still, I think sound too close like that, is never so good as leaving a nice separate space. Even experts suggest that as well. Other than that, I am really amazed of how cool that looks.

Could you then explain why headphones give you a true sense of the full soundstage? (2.0 of course) $20 ear buds or Crapple headphones don't really count as "headphones". They are merely what you use until you can get some Sennheiser ear candy ;)

In a very large room, the volume must be turned up so the speakers can be heard, like if the speakers are 20 feet away from you. When they are 20 inches from you, they don't need to be turned up so loud. Every digital receiver can independently adjust speaker volume and account for size too.

We used to have a very large room and the volume was high. Now, my rears are 6 feet from me. The previous volume was WAY TOO LOUD in the new environment.

I see there are a lot of Playseat owners here! I'm thinking of getting one by the time I get a wheel. Is it worth it? Isn't the thing going down between your legs in the way?

And then the wheel. How's the quality of the DFGT? I have a DFP but the pedals screwed up pretty soon (braked without touching the brake pedal), is this still a problem with the DFGT?
