Yeah, the Playseat is pretty cool. If you want something that looks racey, is very adjustable, and does not have to sit in the middle of your living room, it has proved to be a global winner. It all depends on what you want and need.

The DFGT is similar to the G25 as it has the same feeling, it's smoother and quieter. The pedals are still plastic though. But, look at it this way, you're getting buttons at your finger tips, updated technology, a larger wheel than the DFP (same as the G25), all in a smaller and less expensive package.

My best suggestion is to go to a Gamestop or one of the electronics stores and buy it. Take it home and put it through it's paces for the 90 day money back, no questions asked period. If you feel it's not up to your standards and is not significantly better than the DFP, then take it back for a refund. Then buy the G25 online, as it's hard to find in stores.

One of the great things about the Playseat is they work in direct cooperation with Logitech and have all the necessary holes pre-drilled, so you can lock that sucker down.

No, the bar does not get in the way. You do have the ability to center or left justify the pedals.

Yes, I highly recommend the Wheel Station as a great entry level stand for those that cannot build their own. It can fit behind a couch, in a closet, or under a bed. It is very cost effective. It worked fine for me for a few years until I wanted to go to the next level.

It's what my son is using. Notice the aluminum foil on the legs? In the second picture, you see the reason why ;) And he's buying a TV stand next pay day. The "red neck TV entertainment center" is going bye-bye. Another case of 'you use what you got until you can get better'.

I actually started with a DS2 and a formed bean bag chair that quickly lost it's shape. Which led to borrowing my kid's table.

Cheers for the suggestion 👍 Pity their site seems to be down at the moment, under construction. How much roughly are they? Those playseats look awesome as well, but seems like the only aus store that sells them on the net is asking for $600  Also looking at the buttkicker at the moment, would that be a good investment?

Ok, thanks for the info! It will take a while to get this stuff though, since I don't have a job yet.. :ouch:

Nice timing to graduate from school while the whole world is under economy crisis. 👍

This you should be able to find in any local store like Best Buy for example. I am pretty sure they will carry it as well. Check your local electronics stores.

here's mine :) just got the obutto cockpit about a month ago

Hmm have to wait & see. I have a feeling stores here in australia won't stock it. Perhaps ill be able to buy it off ebay or another game related site.

Here's my simple setup.... same chair as Spyrrari except it has a DFP instead of a DFGT... :) G25 can be put on this one as well with minor adjustments... takes a little extra work then the newer models... but thinking of getting a G25 soon! :) The seat is great... can sit on it for hours and when Im done I just fold it up and put it in the corner of the living room..... This keeps my significant other happy too!! :) 👍

Yeah, I stuck a bunch of those little felt pads under it.... and it seems to work fine... no scratches since Ive had it that werent already there.. :)

BRracing_ProtoX => I somehow agree with what you said about the speakers, at the moment the front speakers are a bit too close but not really from me but from each other, you can't tell for sure where the sound is coming from but it's built to be portable, I move it each time I'm done playing and the bass speaker/amp are in the case under the seat so moving the front speakers next to the TV would add wires in the living room and I'm not sure my girlfriend would appreciate :nervous:

davethestalker => I will think about contacting playseat but I'm not sure they will be interested, it's just a simple mod.

Patrik => I think the playseat is very nice, I was afraid that the bar between the legs would annoy me but really it's not. I'm not sure I would have bought one if I had a couch or a seat though since it's pretty expensive but the quality is impressive. I do feel the bar in the middle of my back but it's when I press hard on the wheel to keep the wheel from moving on la sarthe straight for eg, it's not much of a problem but I guess it can be if you're heavier (~145 pounds here)

[supersonic-88] => It's actually the same here (in france), I don't understand why playseats are so expensive when I can get it for ~$130 less in Spain at 1h driving from home
I found this one on ebay, I have been looking for one for 6 months but it was worth waiting, maybe you'll be as lucky as I've been!

By the way, does anyone know a small 5.1 system with optical in and which bass speaker could fit in my setup? (at the moment it's in the wood case on the right of the seat, behind the shifter) Because the one I currently have doesn't work on the PS3 since it's mini jack :(

Thanks for the comments!

because many people asked me which kind of wheel and racing seat i´m using.

here ist my famous racing station.

 but its very comfertable. :P

Some very impressive setups here, certainly puts mine to shame.

I am collecting all the bits for my setup at the moment and am ready to the screen now (currently using an old 14" crt portable TV).

I don't want to spend too much, so i was wondering about buying a monitor rather than a TV. I've been looking at these. Do you think any of them will be ok to get a reasonably good HD picture on? Or can you point me in the right direction of what to look for.

Matt, as you're probably aware, those are going to give a resolution of 1680 x 1050, which isn't quite 1080p. Also, they're 16:10, whereas HD is 16:9, so you're always going to have a bit of a border etc.

On the plus side though, all of those 22" panels at that low price point are (well, were, I assume it's the same) are all made by the same supplier (Chi Mei make the actual panel, not the plastic case around it) so you're pretty fine just to go for the cheapest you can get in the colour you want.

I've got a couple of them from a year or so ago, only really used them for PC gaming, and they're good for that (to my untrained eye).

There's a few people here I think that use 22" monitors with Prologue, they'd probably be able to give you some first hand input :)

If anyone is interested in the foldaway unit I started with, Wheel Station Pro, please PM me and I will give you the owner's email address. That way you can contact him and secure yourself one of the WSP's that he has in the works. He builds these himself, which helps keep costs minimal.

Thanks for the reply. I know next to nothing about HD monitors/ tv's. The numbers just confuse me, no idea what they all mean lol. Hopefully someone with a similar monitor will come along soon and tell me what they think.

My setup isnt as great as some of these others (or even Good for that matter) but it works. Im using a Laptop table that i got from Walgreens :P I just welded it together to make it sturdy and painted it to match the room. I also have a 5.1 setup by Samsung and a 42" 1080 tv. (Note the fireplace to set the mood :sly:)

Sorry for the crappy image quality... if u want better quality ill get out my actual camera

Nice idea! BUT, doesn't the table roll around while you're racing since it has wheels?

Not really. 3 of the wheels have locks on them but it still does slide around a little. the wheels make it unsturdy too. my next task is to take the wheels off and have blocks with carpet grips on the bottom of them (like the pedals have the carpet grips)

This is my current GT5P setup. The game chair was on the way out to the curb before it resurrected it into my cockpit. The kids would jump on the seat of the chair which caused the springs in the bottom to drop out. A couple of 2X4's and they can jump on it all they want! The DFGT is mounted to an Ergotron arm which is basically a industrial mount that attaches a flat panel computer screen to a wall. It is very stout and works well since I can tilt and angle the wheel where I want it.
