1. I don't rent, trade or buy used games. non issue for me

2. The kinect could spy on me the same way my Cell, ipad and most other web connected device i have. good thing i'm not a drug lord and just a graphic designer so thats a non issue.

3. every time i turn on my xbox 360 or ps3 i connect to the internet, so that check in is of no concern.

4. The price, people go and buy new smart phones and tablets every two years for close the same price. The xbox one is a device I'll be using for the next 7 years, rock on.

along with anyone else that owns a business or that has a job.
Well i didn't even know yet that weather or night racing werent included for FM5!,.. if thats the case no biggie then as it seems like they did a forza 4.5 in the end...

All your points might be convienent as you didn't really bother with them before ok, but we are dealing with a corporation that wants to restrict our liberties to do what we want with the product we buy from them, which to me is another example of how multinationals do not treat you as a customer, but as a total idiot who they can leech on... It's all about allowing a precedent that affects us negatively, and we shouldn't allow that.

Anyway no night or weather racing in FM5 softens the blow 4 me tough, as those were features i was expecting for their next gen, so the dillema isn't as big anymore haha :)

Also most my gaming has been on PC, so it's been a fact of life for awhile that you can't sell games. It's not just Microsoft but the company's making the game. It's their product and I'm to old to care about a game.

I think it's very interesting.

Forza 4 impressed me more than GT5 did, so it was safe to say I was looking forward to FM5 more. All other things being equal, I would buy an Xbox.

I'm not even that up in arms about the whole Xbone DRM thing. It's not a positive feature, but it's just something else to be taken into account.

On the negative side we have the Xbone DRM, it being $100 more expensive, and my Fanatec (probably) not working.

On the positive side, FM 5 looks awesome, even if I am a little disappointed they don't have night or weather. Again, not a dealbreaker though, and if they can't do it properly then I'd prefer they wait.

But I can't justify to myself paying $100 more for the console and getting a new wheel for one game. Maybe later on when the Xbone library is deeper and the console drops in price.

Anyway, I do think it's a little sad for Turn 10 that they're hamstrung by the policies surrounding this console. It feels like they've made a great game again that won't get the sales it deserves because it's on a console that appears to be second best. They're really going to rely on their games to pull them through.

Meanwhile, I still haven't finished FM4 or started Horizon. And then maybe I'll pick up FM 3 and 2 on sale and play through them a bit. That should keep me busy for a while. ;)

I like Forza quite a lot and have bought 2,3,4 and all the DLC along with a 360 to play it on and a Fanatec Elite wheel with club sport pedals. I was looking forward to 5 and fully prepared to buy the new system until they released the details on it. Everything I hear about it makes me dislike it more and more. So far the only feature it has to entice me is FM5 but that is not enough to warrant the cons to the system.

MS has made several decisions in the past few years that have me wondering where they are headed. In the past I was a big supporter of MS but lately that is changing a lot. It is not just what they have done with the Xbox but also the OS, the developer tools and even MS Office. On top of all that the marketing emails and phone calls I have received in the last few months annoy me to no end.

As much as I would like to play FM5 it doesn't look like it will ever happen unless MS changes thier stance on the Xbox or T10 makes a version for the PC

It doesn't matter how I feel about Xbox One. I have to have it for Forza. If the only thing I got for One is a few Forza games, that's easily a thousand hours of play time right there.

All valid points.

That's just bs. Their priorities are obviously focused toward something else. They COULD have put in weather / night racing. NO excuse for it. Sounds like they have been focusing TOO much on graphics. So they cut corners.

The thing is though.. Turn 10 don't model the cars for FM games, they are outsourced to Dhruva Interactive so it's not like they spend most of their time modelling the cars. Couldn't they have ported the day & night cycle from Forza Horizon? It all seems like they're doing a rush job imo.

It probably is, as would be expected from most launch titles of a new console.

I think people that are expecting an insane number of new features are asking for too much, granted I don't know how long they have had XB1 dev kits, but I doubt they've had a full 2 years as they normally have had for the previous games.

I think it will be similar to GT3 on the PS2 in some ways, not as much content as people were expecting but good gameplay and great graphics for a launch gam.

I'm assuming after they familiarise themselves with the XB1's hardware they'll have night racing and maybe weather in future FM titles. Only time will tell.

Feels like a girlfriend you dumped, because you thought you could do better than her as she had too many flaws, only to get cheated on by your new girlfriend and having to return back to the old one, hat in hand... :(

That, my friend, is a beautiful analogy. 👍

Honestly, the pricing is much worse then the DRM

$500 for the box that is frankly less appealing then the PS4 is really tough

Then theres the exclusive wheel, which will probably be minimum $150.

Thats $650 in the hole and you still havent bought Forza or a Xbox Live membership.

If you want the full Forza experience at launch it will cost you over $800 including Tax.

Thats just too much. Really a shame because by the time they drop their prices etc Gran Turismo 7 will probably be on the PS4, and it will be hard to choose Forza 6 over GT7

I'm almost positive Forza 6 will launch well before GT7, if T10 is going to be held to this schedule Microsoft's got them on. It would also be their second game on the next-gen, while GT7 (or GT6 PS4) would be PD's first.

I'm with you on the price thing. I can't see myself dropping that much coin for a single game, even if I'm not really planning on getting the PS4 at launch. I know the Sony system will be in my living room as soon as there's a must-have game out, especially as the girlfriend is a PlayStation-only person. I'm going to pre-order the game anyways just to get whatever bonuses it'll undoubtedly come with (especially as the CE), but I'm going to have to wait until much closer to release to know more about the game before I make the call on getting the system.

Forza 5 looks incredible, but I won't touch xbone with a five-foot pole due to all the DRM and spyware crap they pull. Hopefully a year from now I have the choice of GT6 on PS4, rfactor2 and pcars on PC. Even if all three of those disappoint me *and* MS changes it's stance on DRM, I'd still need to get yet another wheel with xbone compatibility and I doubt it will be worth the 800 or 1000€ for console/game/wheel.

I was a big GT fanboy until I tried FM3 and loved it. GT5 disappointed me, but FM3, 4 and Horizon kept me entertained. So I switched sides and became a huge Forza fan. But the more I read about XBox One, the more it creeps me out. FM5 looks incredible, but I'm willing to forgo it just so I don't have to buy Microsoft's no-used-games spy box. I'll get GT6, I don't even have to buy a new console for it.

I might be willing to change my mind. I'm still on the fence, but I'm willing to hear more arguments, for and against.

>By default it's on, listening for "Xbox On". You can turn it off tho, and turn the console like OFF off. OFF off is required for Germany / other countries that require it (no vampire appliances) [...] It has to be plugged in for the console to post. You can turn off everything it does from the settings. Think of it like airplane mode for the iPhone. You can't just unplug the cellular radio, but you can turn it off.
. What's funny is that this isn't new news. It's just people that don't bother to look into something before talking about it. It's even posted on the Xbox website somewhere.

That article simply reaffirms all of my thoughts about their strategy. Especially the part about PS4 meeting the status quo while Xbox One is trying to innovate consoles.

The DRM doesn't bother near as much as mandatory 24hr check in though I really do not like the whole steam thing either.

The big issues are what data could be sent to MS from the camera and mic, potential for a hacker to access the feed from same.

The other huge issue is no backward compatibility and price.

If not for the other issues I would probably buy the console even with the DRM in place though I would not like it but without support for my existing hardware and an always on camera and mic that collects and sends data or has the potential to it is definitely a no sale. I firmly believe this to be an invasion of privacy and will not support it even if the console were free.

Lol, I was talking about exactly what I posted that you didn't read. Not your whole post. It's o hard to quote a specific topic through a phone.

Why even use anything that is connected to the Internet if its a big concern to you.

When it comes to Forza, I don't necessarily have a "love" for it per se, but I will admit that my dislike for Microsoft was further reinforced by all the XBone nonsense.

FM5 will be the first Forza game I will not play.

This. I'm waiting to hear reasons why I might want to buy an XBone. So far all I've hear is a lot of stuff I don't care about, and a lot of stuff that sounds pretty dodgy. As soon as they get some actual positives to go along with that other than "we're the console with Forza 5", I might buy one.

At the moment it's a massive Charlie Foxtrot because no one can see why they should put up with all the BS on the box when there have been few clearly stated positives to offset it.

Same here. I have had an XBox in my house since its inception, but now? 100 dollars more and 24 hours or else? No thanks.

Hm, that is an interesting read, and I haven't really thought about it that way, especially as I'm not really that knowledgeable on Steam. It's a gamble, and I appreciate the stated goal, but it might just be too early for them. Perhaps it'll be similar to PS3's long road this generation of being the second-fiddle (technically third, behind Wii) in sales, thanks to the initial shock of the price. But as the technology has become more wide-spread (specifically, Blu-Ray), a lot more people are buying Sony.

That article simply reaffirms all of my thoughts about their strategy. Especially the part about PS4 meeting the status quo while Xbox One is trying to innovate consoles.

There's surely something to be said for meeting the status quo, though. I recognize it, but I can't say the PS4 doesn't interest me more, perhaps even because of it. It seems the easier choice - the one more people might make come November - and having the system that is bringing in more sales can't hurt, especially in the early months, since I imagine it also draws more developers.

It's going to be a very strange holiday season...
