Trial Mountain has always been my favorite GT track since GT1. Deep Forest and Grand Valley are also great "old-school" tracks, though I'm still working on re-learning the middle section of Grand Valley in GT4. My favorite of the new tracks would have to be El Capitan.
Some courses are good for certain cars. Motorland, Autumn Ring and Opera Paris are a blast in slower cars, while Laguna Seca and Midfield are much more fun in powerful rides.
Some courses I don't care much for:
- New York - This track just isn't fun. The north section isn't bad, though it could use a little more variety instead of just 90* turn after 90* turn, but the long straights kill this course, especially for racing. It's hard to get a good competitive race with the "fast-on-straights-slow-on-turns" AI.
- Seoul - What the hell were they thinking? "Hey, let's take New York and remove the only halfway interesting section of the track!"
This track is the worst in the game.
- George V Paris - I'll be honest, I suck at this track. It's actually a pretty cool course, but it's a bit tight and slow for my taste. I'll probably like it better after trying some different cars on it, though.
- Fuji 2005 - The layout isn't bad, but it's an ugly-looking track with all the asphalt runoff, and it can be a little hard to judge braking points. But the one thing that really pissed me off is that I didn't realize there were two versions of the 2005 track until I followed the road markings through the chicane at the end of the backstretch like I had always done before, only to watch the rest of the field blow right through them. Only then did I figure out that "Fuji 2005
GT" means "Follow the painted lines that are the only things marking out the course
except in this one spot over here where you just drive through 'em...".
