Hello everyone.

Slightly controversial topic here, but it is obviously no secret the progress with GT7 evolving has been slow. For instance, up until now, we've only received one new track, that being Watkins Glen. (Edit: Road Atlanta was added in December) I don't want to count the Barcelona rallycross, because rally is more of a side thing in GT, and when rallycross is mentioned, I always think about those wide, fast tracks, and not the opposite that this one is.

I feel with every single content update my motivation drops more and more. Most of the cars we get haven't been that exciting, and PD even had the nerve to add an open roof version of the Porsche VGT. Literally no one wished for one. The only cars I've been really excited about were the GT2 classics Escudo and R30 Silhouette.

What we really need is more tracks. Understandably modeling tracks takes a while, especially if they're real tracks that have been scanned. But we're still waiting for more original tracks. What I wish to see in particular is more old-school tracks from the original three games of the series. The community's most anticipated picks are Red Rock Valley Speedway, Apricot Hill and Grand Valley Speedway. I echo this selection except for Apricot Hill, was never really a fan

And while I can't speak for Daily Races, as I don't do them for obvious reasons, it's worth a mention. Those reasons being the network quality on PS4, and the fact that racing can be quite horrendous. PD seriously needs to address a few things, but I'm quite convinced they just don't care enough. They even dropped the wall contact penalty from the Tokyo 600 grind race, which I honestly did not see coming at all.

Speaking of grind races, we only have 4 viable options, + Sardegna rally for quick cash. And when it comes to races on different tracks, it's unbelievable how some are still sorely lacking races. Take Bathurst for example. Granted, it's not the greatest track for racing, but it features a whopping single race in the selection. At least we finally got something for Nordschleife, as I felt that track was way underused, but Bathurst, among other tracks, needs to be noticed.

Now that we got the main problems out of the way, let's discuss your motivation for GT7. So, how do you feel? Do you still do daily workouts regularly or do you only boot up the game when you have literally nothing better to do? As I've mentioned, my motivation has gone way down, and I just started another hiatus, one which will last until PD finally adds a new track, one that's hopefully a good one, as well as some real classics. I still do the Time Trials, because I wanna keep that gold streak going. :D But it doesn't exactly count as being an active player, considering I only need to boot up the game three times a month max for the required time for the time trials.

And what about your realistic wishlist, one that could happen? Here is mine:

Tracks
  • Red Rock Valley Speedway (most anticipated)
  • Grand Valley Speedway
  • Tokyo R246
  • Mid-Field Raceway
Cars
  • GT1 Le Mans cars (R390, TS020)
  • Missing JDMs:
    • Mitsubishi FTO
    • Hondas (Prelude, CR-X)
    • Toyota Altezza/Lexus IS
    • Mazda AZ-1
  • TVR Griffith
  • Fiat Coupe
  • Jaguar XJ220

And then it's time for your dreamer wishlist, from which not a single item will likely make it into the game.

Tracks
  • Special Stage Route 5
  • Rome Circuit
  • Seattle Circuit
  • GT2 exclusives
    • Grindelwald
    • Tahiti Road
    • Rome-Night
  • Special Stage Route 11 (from GT1)
  • Rally
    • Grand Canyon (for that rally goodness)
    • Smokey Mountain (absolute classic, and a very high speed course.)
    • Pikes Peak (also anticipated by the community)
  • El Capitan
  • Road America (and Atlanta?) and Circuit of the Americas (usually I'm not a fan of American tracks, but these are special)
Cars
  • Vectors, Venturis and Tommy Kairas from GT2
  • Espace F1, also from GT2
  • Returning fantasy cars, e.g. CR-X and S2000 LMs
  • Sedans, possibly ones from 90s BTCC? Examples from '97:
    • Primera GT
    • Accord
    • 406
  • TVR Speed 12
  • Volkswagen W12
  • Nissan Stagea
  • Mazda Furai

That's all I could think of right now. I will highlight any entries to my wet dream wishlist I might think of later. :dopey:

Lastly, I wanna wrap this thread up with, in my opinion, the biggest mystery in all of GT7. That being, what the heck is PD planning to do with the licenses? Only up to A, the second license in order, is required. When are we going to see events that require I-B or higher? This is a question I ask myself nearly every day...

It does surprise me a little GT has never leant into having some proper dedicated togue-esque tracks. It's hardly out of character for the game and I don't think anyone would be displeased about it, if anything I think most people would be ecstatic for it. It would also do a lot to bring people back to the game I think.

I'm on the fence about even writing a response, but Tumek5 seems like a passionate fan so here's a quick thought.

I'm not preoccupied at the least on what PD is going to do. They are professionals and will do what they think they need to do to be one of the winners in a highly competitive environment. So I am apathetic to what GT7 will turn into. Instead, I just enjoy what it is currently and use my time/energy on learning more about racecraft, the engineering and the underlying physics that drive all things.

We all want a better game, but sometimes, it is evidently out of our control and it may be better to put our energy into things that actually gives us a return on our investment.

Back in the day (way back!) there was a massive club racing scene in Britain with cars like Ford Anglias, MGBs and Midgets, Sprites, Lotus Cortina’s and suchlike. Where are these “historic” classics in GT7?
They raced on tracks like Mallory Park (my local track), Snetterton, Oulton Park and Cadwell.
I think I’ll wait a long time to see any of these😢

I haven’t played for months and I still don’t have any motivation to fire this game up. My issues aren’t with the lack of tracks or cars but it’s just the way PD does things, there are lots of good things but also lots of stuff that makes you wonder wtf the devs are thinking.

I'm at the point of recreating mini super gt races using Gr.3/Gr.2 Cars with respective liveries. Overall game feels weird, where it's just a wait for some kind of big update and wishful thinking.

Pretty much I can realistically think of cars that have been previously in the series.

My motivation to play in Gran Turismo 7 is extremely low and I agree with @Veinz - it is because how PD manages GT7.

I think we can agree that adding some events to tracks with the lowest amount of events (Monza, Mount Panorama etc.) is very obvious. Sadly it isn't obvious for PD so we have some absurd number of events in Tokyo. Also it is a very realistic and simple addition to the game which blows my mind why they don't do that.
Next thing that has impact on my motivation is lack of will on PD's side to increase credit prizes to atleast Tokyo level (what means still 11+ hours of farming for 20.000.000 car) on atleast 1 event per every track so we can have some diversity in earning credits (30 events sounds better than 4 what in fact is 2 - Tokyo and Sardegna because SPA and Le Mans are random). This thing just sucks all the fun from the game. If not ticket engine glitch and Tomahawk I wouldn't be able to check every car in the game and I would have to spend some crazy amount of hours to have a chance.

Obviously better AI but it isn't realistic. So this is single player.

In multiplayer it is even worse. There is no incentive for me (a materialistic dude with ADHD) to even try Sport Mode. I have 0 races in Sport Mode. I wanted to check it out but last patches just killed my motivation to even try Sport Mode experience.
Rewards (credits) are just awful. There is no carrot on a stick in online. Everyone and his dog know that it isn't worth to chase after e-sports in this game and even if someone does it then it is less than 1% of the playerbase. There is no incentive for 99% players. Of course you can set goals by yourself, getting better might be a fun thing for some people (it isn't enough for me to be motivated) and just having fun by racing with real players (which for some might be more stressful and nerve-racking than fun). Seasons are meaningless. You get nothing for being top 100, top 1000 etc. Usually in competitive games there is something to chase. It is no secret that % of people who played 50 races since release of the game is extremely low (check achievements %).

Also players who like to grief in games in GT7 are in heaven. There are no bans for players in GT7. Reseting their DR and SR isn't enough. In other racing games you can be banned. Here you won't be banned as long as you won't write something dumb in chat.

TLDR;
more events on tracks with low amount of events (Monza, Mount Panorama etc.);
increase credits prize on all tracks in the game (atleast 1 event with good prize per track) atleast to the Tokyo level (should be higher imo but not realistic);
increase credits prize in multiplayer to atleast single player numbers (and some nice bonus for podium);
ban players who can't race/behave on track and play GT7 like wreckfest (temporary then perma bans - not realistic tho);
add some incentive to play in Sport Mode and Seasons for those who are not aliens (very low % of Sport Mode playerbase and no reason to play - except fun - for people who aren't on Igor Fraga level or good enough to be on GT7 official stream).

What I think GT7 really needs is more rotating events that have good payout and allow you to play with the existing content in new ways. I'm fine with a drip feed of cars and tracks because there's enough of both in the game already to support a lifetime of racing. The problem is that there aren't enough structured events to motivate players to engage with any of it.
  • The daily races are good, but they change too slowly and they don't utilize all the cars and tracks available, and the payouts are almost nonexistent.
  • There should be an offline equivalent to the dailies with a better payout.
  • The sport time trial is great -- it pays well, helps you improve your skills, and is consistently interesting.
  • More missions would be welcome.
  • I personally don't really enjoy the multi-race championships, but lots seem to, so why not bring those back, too.
  • Some kind of racing school to complement the circuit experiences and teach how to be a better racer would be great.
And then there's the economy:
  • The roulette needs to go altogether; it's such a bad feature. Just disappointment after disappointment, to the point that even when you do win, it still feels like an injustice because it happens so seldom. Once you're at a high level, no daily mileage ticket should ever pay less than 100,000. I hate the roulette wheel so much.
  • I'd love to see the Hagerty's branding and associated inflation features stripped out altogether; again, they're pretentious and they do nothing to improve player enjoyment.
  • All race payouts should be increased. I know Gran Turismo has always been stingy with credits, but if you realistically can't earn all the cars after hundreds of hours of playtime, the formula isn't working.
  • Microtransaction prices should be drastically lowered. I'd gladly pay five bucks for a fancy car now and then, but $200 is ludicrous.
Finally, a Porsche 944, please, please, pleaaaaaaase??

Mainly real circuits, with couple classic originals in between
Full weather support on more (most) tracks
More (well paying) events especially on tracks that don't have that many to begin with

FEATURES/OTHER
Much better payments for custom races; for online, sure why not (for me racing online is enough incentive)
Faster AI for (at least) custom races, what's the maximum chilis, 5? Why can't I choose more than 2?

My motivation is the same as any addict - wish I could quit, haven't been able to yet.

WISHES
  • More variety in daily races. There's a ton of tracks that aren't being utilized.
  • Penalties need to be completely refactored. If someone wipes out in front of me and I can't avoid hitting them, I should not get a penalty. And if someone bins me intentionally, and most of the time you can tell by how they steer, they should not only get penalized, but possibly even booted from the race.
  • More money grind tracks.
  • Totally agree that the lottery tickets are not only useless, but an insult. The more hours we've put into the game should result in better odds.
  • Why they can't fix the ghost reset option is beyond me.

Also Races for every car category in the game (Gr.2, Kei-Cars, Super Sportcars, F1, Go-Kart, specified Vintage Races like for D-Type vs.AM DB3S or Ferrari 330 P4 vs. Ford GT40 -> with also adding similar classed cars from that era to the game)
-More interesting Championships for other classes as well
-More diverse online races like also bringing in cars from other eras
-Harder Difficulty levels for AI in Custom Races (maybe when SOPHY is being added) and a better payout for these
-Rain implementation on more tracks
-Making use of all Driver Licenses
-Some more Missions
-Maybe also something like Monthly Scapes Contests with in-Game rewards to win

  • Implement the custom weather and time in time trial mode. Temperature and wind data is saved with the lap times, yet there's only five scenarios per track, when the game's systems could make hundreds
  • many, many more events in the 1.5M Cr/h tier. Utilise the cars and tracks we have! The Renault RS01 for example is made for a one-make series. So too are the Civic Touring Car, 8Gordini, Shifter Kart, Red Bull Jr, X2019, Copen RJ, Roadster NR-A, X-Bow R, Radical, Tomahawk GTSR...

I'm happy with pretty much anything, but would most like to see Red Rock Valley, Pikes Peak, Tahiti and Rome.

Mercury Cougar XR-7 '67
Honda City Turbo II '83
Every Premium car from GT5/6 they can manage. The Murcièlago had the same gameplay LOD model, just new shaders and engine sounds. Why waste the SV and Reventon? Is it impossible to record a new engine sound for a Lexus LFA, Alfa Romeo Brera or Honda Insight and throw it back in? I don't think so.

So, this is just a wish list?

Let's start with more races on Mount Panorama along with more races that are higher paying like Spa 1hr and Le Mans 30 minute.

Car wise I'm not overly bothered.

Tracks I would love a couple more in Australia like Eastern Creek or Sandown. (Oran Park would be lovely but unfortunately it's a housing estate now.)

Edit: PD got rid of the license requirements at some point, adding even more confusion to the question at hand...
Couldn't agree more with you, it's like I've written all of this. These are 100% the biggest problems of the game and, strangely we even share a similar wishlist in general.

I said this in a thread a couple of months ago, but I'll say that again: bringing back Red Rock Valley would be one of the smartest moves for GT7. It's a classic fictional track that would feel like a brand new one, because of how long it's been since we last saw it. Plus, it has a very realistic layout, despite the crazy architecture, so it would also feel like a real world track.

In other words, adding Red Rock Valley would please everyone. Those who want the classic originals back, those who want new original tracks, those who want real world tracks, and most importantly, those who simply want a new track for the game right now, which is technically... everybody.

That's why I agree it's arguably the most anticipated track to come to GT7. Because Grand Valley and Apricot Hill are tracks we're all expecting, and whether we want them or not, they will certainly come at some point.

As for the cars, there's indeed a lack of nostalgic cars from the series coming in the updates. I emphasize these type of cars because this is what the GT7 marketing was all about, nostalgia. Sure, we got a nice bunch of them from day one, plus the Escudo and the Skyline Silhouette in the updates, but there are a lot of "urgent" ones still missing (I'm talking to you JGTC NSX, GT-One & R390), and these types of cars alone would definitely bring a good portion of the players back to the game, me totally included.

Motivation: Grids for custom races + if they add any car from my wishlist which will easily be minimum $5,000,000 so if the silhouette looks halfway pricy I will start grinding if i'm not at my goal. If GT7 did not have custom races I may not still be playing it tbh.

Realistic:

Honda Castrol NSX as it was on the first car list before being removed later though IMO it will still come.

Nissan R390 GT1 *Reason this is realistic is as I stated before in another topic PD has access to cars from the Nissan Zama museum/warehouse + have a good relationship with Nissan and Gr.2 is very barebones as of right now.

Toyota GT-ONE Same reason as above though Gr.2/Gr.1 will depend on the year if added

Porsche 911 GT1-98 Same reason as the Nissan R390

Car selling, at some point I believe car selling will be implemented though from what I read it will only allow us to sell duplicates though hopefully I just misread it as otherwise they may of well had not even implemented it IMO.

A spec-II type update with massive improvements is the one that I feel car selling will be included with along with around 5 cars.

Tracks:

Grand Valley Speedway

Wishlist/Hopeful:

Higher payouts for custom races atleast on the same level as Tokyo depending on length + the ability to save and make Championships.

Toyota 88-CV + El Capitan *I had a dream these 2 were included and shown at nighttime in the trailer for the DLC which was weird considering I wasn't even really too crazy about this car though it had great performance.

Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR GT1 or Strassenversion, while the CLK-LM is a really cool car and has awesome performance the CLK-GTR is really peak GT1 imo.

Panoz Esperante GTR-1

Corvette C5-R or slope back C5. The flat rear of the C5 Z06 was always unattractive to me compared to the late 90s C5.

Ferrari F50 GT.

Any of the fictional LM cars from GT2-GT4 along with the Touring Cars from GT5/GT6.

Lamborghini Diablo GT2 from GT6, the model was pretty much current gen ready and probably just needs minimal touch ups.

PP 850 Championship with 5 laps on long courses paying $500,000 + CRB per race with a $1,500,000 payout at the end.

All of the Endurance races from previous Gran Turismos along with 1-2 of them having no PP requirement for easy grinding.

My motivation are recreating various touring car series. Going by the datamine, PD are on track to, hopefully, deliver in the game’s shelf life. Other than that, wishing for specifics, I’d either have to create my own game or go the personal computer route to get what cars and tracks I want.

I‘m just past being fussy with this game. I’ve got my custom race option and it’s pretty much all I need from GT7.

Being able to add race interiors would go a long way to making self-built race cars more authentic. Failing that we really need TC versions of many more cars like the E30 M3, R32 GT-R, RS500, 190 Evo2.

Like I've said in videos, at this point my motivation is to be as fast as possible in at least some aspect of the competitive events (Weekly Races, championship series, time trials) to be a proof of concept that Gran Turismo would be successful in the Paralympics. Having Cerebral Palsy makes it to where I don't really have a true gauge of how good I am at the game because I deal with physical limitations such as reflexes and being legally blind, but as long as I keep being competitive like how I'm currently 10th place worldwide in the Weekly Race A, there can still be hope for those with disabilities to have positive experiences with the game.
Growing up I always loved sports but couldn't really play with my peers in school or whatever, but with Gran Turismo over time I was not only playing with people I knew but occasionally going toe to toe with the very best. So I feel like if Gran Turismo is in the Paralympics then that can give motivation to those with disabilities that they can play a sport equally with their friends and have a chance to compete with the best.
If I were to give up now just because the game isn't very good and not as fun as previous games, there would be a massive what if that I would always think about. Some people inevitably get mad sometimes when I show flaws of the game and have even took actions against me, but I am in too deep to quit now. I want to help as many people as possible be able to have fun on a competitive playing field no matter their circumstances because I'm proof that even with lots of limitations it's still possible to achieve meaningful results that from what I can tell people from all walks drives of life can enjoy.
It may take awhile, but I really do think that if Gran Turismo is added to the Paralympics, the event will be just as exciting as the Championships and Olympics plus the participants will have an unforgettable experience that can pass on to future generations.
I know I'm motivated by something that may not ever happen and some people think I'm overexagerating but I've played Gran Turismo as long as I can remember and now having a goal that could lead to amazing things for many people makes me more motivated than ever to continue and make the goal a reality.

My main motivation: work towards the platinum trophy. This would include acquiring enough credits to buy the Ferrari 330 P4, Jaguar XJ13, and the Ford Mark IV. It also includes checking the UCD for a black Volkswagen 1200, which I plan to buy repeatedly for the "Firm Favorite" trophy. But I think even after I get the platinum trophy, I may wanna keep poking my head into the world of GT7, just to see what sort of stuff gets added every month.

My realistic track list:

Tokyo Expressway - West Loop
Tokyo Expressway - Outer Loop (as opposed to Central Loop)

Really sad to say it, but GT7 is the worst game version of all the serie. Many years ago we had the same problem with GT sport, but in 5-6 monthe they changed the game completely, they did not do it with GT7. I did hope that with the various updates the game was going to improve, I was totaly WRONG, GT7 is horrible, and the new updates did not change nothing. I already put the dvd in the drawer of my bedroom cabinet, actually I am playing Grid legends and F1 22, and believe me, both are really funny. It is unacceptable a game like GT7, it's an offense against players like us, people who loved GT since they issued for the first time. Shame on you PD.

I think GT3 was the lower point. Even though the music remains fantastic, I'm under the impression it had one of the most austere car/track lists in the series. Don't forget there was only a single BMW in that game - a 328ci, not even an M3.

I've lost a lot of my motivation to play the game since a few months back. As we all know, the content is simply not coming fast enough for a supposedly live-service title, and although I still log on for the daily workouts, I'm starting to reconsider that as well.
So with that in mind, here's my wishlist for the game's future.

Realistic (things that PD could feasibly do)

  • More Daily Races per week, with a bigger variety in tracks and car categories
  • Two time trials per week, one road and one race
  • More original circuits returning, like Autumn Ring and Grand Valley
  • More cars from the last 5 years (seriously, where's that C8 at?)
  • More events for each track; at least a full sheet of 9 for most circuits
  • More events on the same level of payout as the Big Four, including endurances
  • Rebalancing existing events to give higher payouts
  • More menu books and championships
  • More engine swaps for various vehicles; for example, 2JZ for the Celica, or RB26 for the 240Z, Hakosuka and Kenmeri
  • Full control of the soundtrack for each individual menu

Dream List (things I don't expect PD to do)

  • Return of all PS3-era premiums
  • Return of more low-end 90s/00s cars (DC5 Integra, SRT-4, Fiat Coupe, Eclipse, FTO, Tiburon, Prelude, MR-S)
  • Return of seasonal events, with Big Four-level payouts and special rewards (engine and parts tickets anyone?)
  • A tournament for tuned cars that scales to your PP, featuring engine swaps and special parts as rewards for winning
  • A comprehensive auction house system that allows players to buy each other's cars and parts, as well as a trading system between friends that lets you do the same without having to bid (this might be easily exploited...)
  • Co-op events, with online players racing together against AI
  • Daily/weekly challenge menus in the Cafe (more reasons to come back)
  • Weekly/monthly community events, involving offers, discounts and bonuses for particular things (GTA Online-style)
  • Return of the Daily Login Bonus (not only are you getting people to come back, but giving them twice the prizes too...)
  • Tokyo Expressway Open Layout for online lobbies, featuring every Tokyo Layout as well as potentially having SSR5, 7, 11 and Tokyo R246 in there as well (imagine the lobbies... Shutoko RPing here we come)
  • Return of Shuffle Mode for lobbies (the greatest racing mode of all time, and it only featured in one game...)
  • Return of importing music from your USB into the game (Spotify just doesn't quite cut it)
