It's like touring cars pretty much, like based on every day road cars
TCR would be a perfect Gr.5 category - there's a substantial list of cars that could provide close intense racing. There might need to be a few more tighter, twistier tracks for them though - like the Autumn Ring mini and Grand Valley East of old!
Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR
Audi RS 3 LMS TCR
CUPRA Leon Competición TCR
Fiat Tipo TCR
Honda Civic Type R FK7/FK8 TCR
Hyundai Elantra N TCR
Hyundai i30 N TCR
Hyundai Veloster N TCR
KIA cee'd TCR
LADA Vesta NG TCR
Lynk & Co 03 TCR
MG 5 XPower TCR
MG 6 XPower TCR
Opel Astra TCR
Peugeot 308 TCR
Renault Mégane RS TCR
Subaru WRX STI TCR
Toyota Corolla GR-Sport TCR
Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR
(PD could probably could create a few Gr.5 cars of their own - BMW 1 Series, Ford Focus ST, Mazda 3, Mercedes AMG A class etc)

I'm still surprised that these cars aren't in the game. I mean, they're Gran Turismo classics and on that data mine, so why weren't they in the game from the start?

as for the renault turbo 5 maxi, 400r, and re amemiya people are doing their best to replicate these cas through liveries, and I'm surprised that Kaz doesn't see that.

Let's do it by steps.

1. My Motivation

My motivation is to play daily races B and C. I have nothing else interest in GT7. The single player mode is not motivating, it doesn't give you a sense of progression. It's tedious in the extreme. So GT7 for me is just playing Sport Mode.

2. Wishlist

Circuits:

Real:
  • Mont-Tremblant
  • MoSport
  • Brasilia
  • Potrero de Los Funes
  • Road America
  • Macao
  • Mugello
  • Charade
  • Imola
  • Sachesenring
  • Donington
  • Silverstone
  • Indianapolis
  • Monaco
  • Algarve
  • Kyalami
  • Inje Speedium
Original:
  • Mid-field Raceway
  • Apricot Hill
  • Red Rock Valley
  • Autumn Ring
  • Rome Circuit (GT2-3)
  • Circuito di Roma (GT5-6)
  • Nova York (GT4)
  • Madrid (GT5)
  • Tokyo R246
  • Grindewald (GT2)
  • Tahiti (GT2)
  • Motorland (GT4) - We need kart circuit
  • Motorsport Land (GT2) - We need kar circuit
  • GT Arena (GT6) - We need kart circuit
  • Kart Space (GT5) - We need kart circuit
  • Rio de Janeiro Street Circuit (original)
  • Buenos Aires Street Circuit (original)
  • Rome Night (GT2) - The circuit layout is completely fictitious. Its elevation and cornering characteristics could be reworked for a new permanent original circuit.
  • Special Stage Route 5 & 11 - I think it is already evident to some that SSR5 has been reinterpreted for Tokyo Expressway East, just as Grand Valley has been transformed into Highway 1. The solution could be, instead of Tokyo, a new city, highway or landscape for the track, transforming SSR5/11 into a permanent circuit with the same characteristics as the original circuit (turns, tunnels and elevations).
Cars:
  • Four DTM cars from 2018-19 (Mercedes, BMW, Aston Martin and AUDI)
  • Five DTM cars from 93-95 (Mustang, Calibra, 190E, C-Class, M3 E36)
  • Eight LMDh and LMh hypercars 2023-24 (Porsche, BMW, Acura, Ferrari, Peugeot, Cadillac, Vanwall and Alpine)
  • Four GT300 cars from 2021-2023 (Supra, Evora, Prius and GR86)
  • Three GT500 cars from 2021-2023 (Supra, NSX-GT, Z)
  • All FIA GT1/GT2 cars from 93-96, 97-99 and 2006-2011 (F40 GTE/LM '95, XJ220 GT1/LM '94, Venturi 600LM '95, SARD MR8 '95, Storm '95, Esprit GT1 '95, 911 GT1 '96, EB110 GT GT1 '95, F50 GTR Prototype '96, Diablo GT1 Stradale (Nomad) '96, Viper GTS-R, 911 993 Evo '97, Diablo GT2 '97; GT-One '98, 911 GT1 '98, Elise GT1 '97, R390 GT1 '98, Esperante GTR-1 '98; 575 GTC '05, MC12 GT1, S7-R GT1, GT GT1 Matech, Murciélago R-SV GT1)
  • All GTE/GT3 cars from 2011-2021 (GM Camaro GT3 '12, McLaren MP4-12C GT3 '13, Cadillac ATS-V.R GT3 '14, Bentley Continental GT3 '18, BMW M8 GTE '18, BMW M4 GT3 '21, AMG GT GT3 Evo '20, Acura NSX GT3, Ferrari 488 GT3/GTE, Porsche 911 GT3-R '22, AM Vantage GT3/GTE '20, GM Corvette C8 GT3/GTE '21, Ferrari 293 GT3 '22)
  • New generic models Formula 1 (originals)
3. Realistic list

As for the realistic list of circuits, I made a note in another thread. I believe this below has some plausibility.
About new circuits, based on some traces, it is possible to infer some things. I'm not saying these are real indications, but possibilities.

Firstly, we have the datamined information of the Red Rock Valley, Grand Valley and Tokyo R246 circuits, information that also brought Trial Mountain, Watkins Glen, Deep Forest, Daytona and Atlanta, tracks that were confirmed in GT7.

Second, there's the vestige of Apricot Hill in GT7's launch advertisements. So far we have no other information about this track.

Thirdly, we have Yas Marina being presented by Kaz Yamauchi, in August 2022, in a lecture at CEDEC, on how to idealize a racing circuit. It is very suggestive that they use this circuit as an example alongside Suzuka, when they could use another real circuit that is already in the game, such as Monza or Interlagos.

Fourthly, we have Hungaroring. The real circuit had already appeared, partially, in a clip of the Gran Turismo Sport championships in 2020. Today, the same circuit is used for the filming of the Gran Turismo movie. So, it is possible to infer that PD-Sony must already have some commercial agreement with the Circuit Administration to launch the circuit in its video game.

Fifth, we have Zolder. YouTuber @Tidgney has heard rumors from key people that Zolder may appear in the future of GT7.

Sixth, we have Sebring. The user @wbhumphries claimed before Road Atlanta's release that said track would appear in GT7, just like Sebring. He said this based on a source. Road Atlanta has been confirmed.

That's what we have for traces. I said traces, not evidence. Some people bring up the abstract information that Zolder can appear. Others point to Sugo for the circuit being mentioned in the game's historical panels. Others say that Sebring is possible to appear due to the commercial agreement that PD closed with Michelin and IMSA, on which I have no way of knowing the influence of this.

So, we have as possible circuits for the future of the franchise.
  • Red Rock Valley
  • Grand Valley Speedway
  • Tokyo R246
  • Apricot Hill
  • Yas Marina
  • Hungaroring
  • Zolder
  • Sebring
As you can see, GVS has just been confirmed, as have Watkins Glen and Road Atlanta.

About cars, I don't think there's anything more plausible than the datamined list of cars that leaked last year. Furthermore, Super Formula's twitter profile plays with our emotions about their two cars from 2023 in GT7.

If Super Formula '23 appears, it's realistic to think about the possibility of Sugo and Motegi as future circuits.

Something that would really re-energise GT7 for me would be a "stage 5" tune section where you can turn cars into Gr.5, especially interested in larger fuel tanks and ideally interior strip outs replacing standard seats and removing carpet / rear seats etc.

It would also help if you could buy things like carbon shafts, titanium rods and weight reduction 5 rather than hoping to get lucky on a roulette.

Finally, an easy one I would assume, would be to add a few more 10-15 lap / 30 min races like Tokyo with 500k payouts.

I don't see why PD cannot exploit all the amazing work they have done in the graphics and physics areas and simply get more racing out of the game.

How about a 600pp tournament... 10-15 laps at Tokyo, Grand Valley and Brands anyone? 500k payout. Try picking a car that can win at all those tracks!?

And why not a 700pp to take the above mentioned Gr.5's... Suzuka, Watkins and Spa? A bit of rain, some challenging tactics and 25-30 minutes racing.

Would keep me coming back and back again, trying out new cars, set ups etc.

Gr.4 and GR.3 etc are all well and good, but GT has always been about hopping up cars and having fun.

My motivation for GT:Café GT7 has to be driving on this game with a wheel, no other game feels like this and with a good selection of cars. PSVR2 also helps make races and driving enjoyable (got gold on the nsx TT in VR to my own surprise!).

---

I feel that a basic thing to bring my 'casual' mates back to the game would to have AI in custom/private lobbies. Along side a drag racing mode (rwyb style).

The bigger thing I wanted for the single player was to have race events organised by the event category, rather than to go to each track to find all 'wtc 600' events for instance. That's not going to change till the next game at least. Not to mention more events and decent championships. Look at the way GT2 did all the races and start from there.

Grid starts are pretty much absent from the single player apart from the odd event like the Tsukuba clubman race.
Qualifying+test run as an option is missed as well (GT1).

Sport mode i think they just need to sort the penalty system more, if you hit a wall now you get a time penalty to rub salt in the wound even if it's someone else that bins you off! Another nice thing to add from sport mode would to be able to copy GTWS event settings so people can replicate them in lobbies and custom races.

----

That's basically a very small part of my actual wishlist, mostly unrealistic i bet! But in terms of what is a more likely achievable wishlist:

Features/gameplay:
Race data in VR, this is probably already being worked on so not too worried about it.

Cars:
Nismo 370Z (latest facelift)
1677633633887.png

Honda S2000 GR.3 + GR.4 to give Honda that FR platform for sport mode races.
1677633695492.png
1677633731312.png

GR.3? GR.4?

Tracks:
Red Rock Valley Speedway - (long sweeping banked corners with a high flowing middle section, could be based in Australia for map location? US has too many already lol)
1677633339943.png

Apricot Hill Raceway - A good old favourite of mine that can be as simple or as technical as it gets, then again the layout when cut into sections of corners looks like they got put into Kyoto Yamagiwa?
1677633139593.png
1677633157537.png

Special Stage Route 11 (GT1 version) - In short the GT3 version looked bland and didn't have the death chicane under the start and finish :P
1677633595859.png

Mid-Field Raceway - I think everyone wants this back, I also think they may end up changing it like every other original track in GT7.
1677634888748.png

El Capitan - Another fan favourite from GT4
1677635114434.png
1677635134984.png

1677635162753.png
1677635295945.png

Autumn Ring - Classic track that is tight and technical, would be 100% understandable if they increased the scale of the track because even the full circuit felt small!
1677635418133.png

For the non fiction choices:
Oulton Park - great little track that has seen GT racing on so would be good for some sport events.
1677634093686.png

1677634116361.png

1677633911239.png

Donnington Park - Ok, another good GR.3 and GR.4 track like Oulton park that does see GT racing again. (I'm totally not trying to get all the ToCa tracks back from the ps1 games! )
1677634308214.png

----

Well that'll do for my 'motivation and wants' for now.

The custom races interest me the most. So do the great cars like the RA 272. I'll be buying more of them for the custom races. New tracks are always welcome.

Totally different area than others wish for:

  • full keyboard/mouse support in the Livery Editor
  • larger size .svg files, instead of just 15kb each
  • use bought paint colors on decals
  • use decals on wheels

for cars:
  • more F1 cars
  • Glickenhaus 007 LMH

tracks:
  • all current F1 tracks
  • Portimao
  • Kyalami

very unrealistic:
- Sophia Floersch in my pitbox 😂

My wish about Daily Races.

I thought it would be ideal to can change the methodology of the Daily Races.

It could be FIVE RACES.

Race A: 4-6 laps with street cars. Tuning prohibited.

Race B: 4-6 laps with tuned and customized street cars. Tuning allowed.

Race C: 8-10 laps. No pitstop and prohibited tuning.

Race D: 12-15 laps. With Pitstop and permitted tuning.

The exchange could be more dynamic for races A and B, changing every three days. As for races C and D, I would leave it as it is, changing each week on Monday.

Race E: Rally Match Race. Two cars on the track in a three-lap sprint. Every week changes the track.

Turnover could be quicker, with races A and B changing every three days. C and D kept changing every Monday.

I liked the mixed grids of tuner cars in the early Daily Races we used to see.

Tuning the car for the circuit to gain a tenth here and there was half the fun.

Had a weapon of an R32 GT-R for the Deep Forest race ages back. Really fun when tuning was allowed and the only measure was PP limit.

I remember having a lot of fun with the 450 PP Laguna Seca event and 500 PP Watkins Glen events. Lots of variety - Evos, Celicas, Atenzas, F40s, Vipers, 'Vettes, swapped Minis from the then-recent bonanza...

Just one thing common among them - that hideous Carolina squat they all had to lower the points.

The ability to change the race info displayed on screen using a controller button during a race without pausing and using the menu

B-SPEC using Sophy would be absolutely awesome

More road cars from previous games - Audi RS cars, AMG older models, BMW M cars, JDM such as Preludes, FTOs etc.

More tracks from previous games - Indianapolis, Autumn Ring, Apricot hill, Midway

Some races which require the higher licences including endurance races over 2 - 4 hours.

Timed drag racing to test acceleration of the cars

Come on Kaz, read this thread - some great ideas on here.

I'd like to see some automakers with only one or a couple cars get fleshed out more, if they can. Obviously, this can't really be done for automakers like BAC, but I could see the newest iteration of the Genesis G80 Sport get added. For TVR, it'd be great if we could see the Cerbera Speed 6, the Sagaris, the classic Griffith 500, and maybe the Tamora and T350C, too. I'd desire the upcoming revival of the Griffith, but I'd only want the production-spec version, and I do hear they're actually gonna do it within the next year or two - despite it seeming like vaporware as of late.

Another idea I had, would be to take a page from how the online time trials work, and for championships, perhaps award a notable amount of credits to those who are within certain ranges of the top driver's points at the end of a season. So you don't need to be the best in say, the GT2 class, but if you're off by a certain percentage of points, you can still win a nice amount of credits. I think it'd really incentivize participation in Sport Mode overall.
