It really is funny how so many people here do not feel like they have been cheated. They feel as though the games substance is the 200 "Premium" cars and the "Standard" cars are a bonus KY is giving us out of the goodness of his own heart.

If say Turn 10 created Forza 2 with 100 "Premium" cars and 300 "Standard" cars that are comprised of Forza 1 models nearly everyone where absolutely slam Turn 10 for that decision. When the table is turned, it seems, everything is fine. Talk about your double standards.

And yes I realize that not everyone here shares the fanboy mentality that I just described.

That's how I feel. There is so many high/top end cars in the Premium list but all the classic and lower end Japanese cars don't get the same treatment.

I am gonna miss testing out all the different cars. I hate how a lot of the premium cars are identical race cars/production cars or high end exotics.
Its not whining or being immature its just showing how we feel about the whole standard car concept. They just threw in older ports just to have
1000 cars.

Quality > Quantity anyday. Don't get me wrong this game is golden and we can't assume things about it but the concept is just silly.

What PD should have done is take 200 of those 800 cars (most popular). And make them premium, most people would be fine with GT5 just havind 400 cars. Because GT3 only had about 180.

After some time to think about this whole mess I have come up with these thoughts...

+
- There is nothing unreasonable with the fact that PD was only able to make 200 premium models.

- From the articles and general release date fluctuations over the years it is reasonable to assume that the development process was met with many challenges and setbacks.

- GT5 will still be more than worth a purchase to anybody who likes cars and is not a die hard Forza or PC sim fanboy.

-
- GTHD/GT5/GT should not have been marketed AT ALL by Sony or PD until they had something substantial to show. This way the "wait" would be reduced. This is 99% Sony's fault.

- PD lied to us. They should have been honest from the get go and said that there will only be a certain number of premium cars and a certain number of standard cars. Realistically this is a bad PR move, but so is the situation we are in now. And people, no matter how stupid and selfish will remember what is most recent, not what was said 2 years ago.

- They should not have bothered with GT5p and just crammed away at GT5. This is also true for GTHD. They should have stayed in the dark. You may not think this is a good idea, but it would have given PD more time to work. Maybe one demo like the TT demo to get feedback on the physics, but that is it.

- GTPSP got in the way. IMO the dev work should have been outsourced. With PD doing the physics and structural work and the other team with the modeling and logistics.

For the future:

- I bet PD has learned a LOT! Like more than we can imagine. GT6 will most likely come in 2-3 years. On the PS3 or as a launch title for the PS4. PD will have all their models ready to go and the process will be much easier. Very few things will have to made from scratch.

Bro did you read any articles? KY and his team worked hard as hell he said that those 200 cars are like PS4 work. If a person gives everything into making a product how can you be mad? Did you see the features that GT5 will have. Forza3 is just an upgraded version of FM2 Please stop with this Forza mess I dont feel cheated if you feel cheated don't buy the game PD is not forcing you to buy their product

We can all just go sit in a corner crying with our laptops posting on here how rubbish GT5 will be and how we're not going to buy it. Some people just want to focus on the positives here. And using assumptions to prove a point is poor form.

There are hardly any JDM premium cars most are euro supercars, the car i like are only standard models with GT4 looks, sound and no interieur view!:nervous:

i GOT it!!! Looking at this pic for the past few days, i could not put my finger on it, but now i got it... this looks like a RC model car skin cover!

This brings up something I mentioned in another thread. You say KY and his team worked hard as hell to produce PS4 level work. That is clear evidence that the whole project was mismanaged. I love the level of detail that was put into this game cars, but if PD doesn't have the resources to produce such detail on a large enough scale to make a full game then they shouldn't go to that extent of detail.

I would rather have 100% of a good looking game than 20% of an absolutely amazing looking game.

I'm not too bothered about the look of the standard models, as I am probably not your typical GT fan in regards to graphic porn. It's not my top priority to see every detail.

If the standard cars had, by today's standard, a standard interior I'd be ok.

Just clearing things up.
I'm starting to hate the word standard.

If a guy is building your house, and it's taking forever, but he keeps showing you pictures of your bathroom and a fireplace and they look SPECTACULAR and then years down the road you get the keys and its a gorgeous fireplace and bathroom stuck into a mobile home... would you be happy that he put his all into that bathroom and fireplace when you were lead to believe he was building you a house of that quality?

People seem to be confusing effort with product. If KY and PD chose to devote almost all their effort to these 200 cars instead of doing a decent job with all the cars, that was their choice and I don't have to doubt their effort to be unhappy with the product.

Why did you quote me then go on to talk about something entirely unrelated to what I said. Or are you assuming that I'm here solely to bash GT5 and imply that I'm not going to buy it? Funny how you would look down on me for making assumptions then go on to make assumptions yourself.

The fact is that I think GT5 will be a tremendous game even with it's flaws and not only will I buy this game, but I will be getting the limited collector's edition.

I understand that people don't always want to see things negatively. But if everyone just accepts what they are given without criticizing it, how will people (PD in this case) know where and what to improve?

Whole different situation If a guy is building my house i must have paid him right? with GT5 if you don't like the way it is you dont have to buy it no body is forcing you to buy it. your acting like KY knocked on your door and asked you to borrow the money to develop GT5.

Talking about limited collectors edition, what's the alternative to it?

Ah I know it's the standar........... Oh bugger!!!!!

DLC would be better after the game has been released. Anything else will fuel more speculation to what's not in the game and overall satisfaction or Disatisfactions with with certain Vehicles.

Most, if not everyone, who frequents this website is likely to be a GT fanatic. Speaking for myself, I am certainly going to buy this game simply because I am so dedicated to the series. Therefore my money is basically already theirs. That said, I feel cheated in a way by PD. They used the old "bait n' switch" on all of us by, up until E3, using only "Premium" model in all advertising depicting what the final product of GT5 will look like.

You didn't say this then?

"It really is funny how so many people here do not feel like they have been cheated."

That's what I'm replying to. Criticism is fair, but only if it's constructive. You can take the positives for what they're worth and still offer constructive criticism. I just don't see how crying about feeling cheated is going to help anyone.

Kaz knows his short comings very well. He probably does not need us to tell me, maybe suggest him what you would want to see... but i have a feeling that the Man is not yet satisfied with GT5. (And you can tell from how he answers the questions during E3.)

If it was entirely up to him, it would take much longer to finish the game and make all the cars in the game "premium". Kaz is sort of an artist, he does what he wants and only up to his liking. And we all know that! But at this point in time, because of peer pressure, management pressure, and fanbase pressure, he has to release something. The compromise is that he cannot finish all the cars in Premium.

This is a trade-off that i can live with, especially considering the fact that as his fan, i have said this before and i will repeat now, I would just be happy if GT5 were a glossed-up GT4 on the PS3.

Which it is now, and a little bit tiny more... ;) 👍 So i am very Happy!

The idea of having two types of car designs in one game might seem very odd and "unprofessional" to most of you, but again, This is an on-going, continuous piece of Art that we can enjoy at every major steps and milestones of this Man's dream! How is that for perspective!

You are taking that quote entirely out of context. That sentence was there to help portray the hypocrisy that I'm witnessing on this forum.

Even with the dark windows, they still are rendering something inside the car. I was analyzing the standard car video when I noticed a helmet with designs visible through the window at about 24 seconds.

There are a number of reasons why I don't like this idea. Firstly, it brings inconsistency into the game. I realise that the standard models look great, but the difference between those and the premium ones is really noticeable. I think it'll be weird to see them together in a race. Secondly, it's a step down from Prologue, all the cars there were of equal quality, just like in all previous GT games. And finally, people actually got used to playing with the interior view, and Prologue played a big role there. Personally I'm still faster with the bumper cam, but for me it's not just about being faster, it's about enjoying myself in the process. PD set high standards with the Prologue, it's foolish to lower them now with the full game. And I thought Kaz was a perfectionist, this decision makes it hard to believe for me anymore. I wish they didn't include interior view at all, or maybe made something similar to Forza's interior view, anything else, but for all cars. I am a perfectionist myself, and although I definitely will buy the game, I know I'll lose a nerve cell every time I read "Standard" or "Premium" in the menus.

I can see what you mean but that's not necessarily hypocrisy. Most on here want GT5 to be good, as we're all (most of us anyway) looking forward to having fun with it. So it's only natural we'd give it the benifit of doubt.

Agreed. I would really prefer if they focused on one or the other. That way we might have been able to have say 300 "Premium" cars if they went the quality route. Or maybe 1200 "Standard" cars if they went the quantity route.
