👎 I believe he is did you see the premium car Just because the man didnt put 1000 premium cars in the game doesn't make him a perfectionist?

What makes me laugh is people around here act like Kaz didn't want to make 1000 premium cars the man him self said that it would take forever. Come on guys lets grow up.

Honestly, I really don't give a damn about modeling every single bolt of a car, those fine stitching on the seat covers, etc etc. I believe they did a stellar job of producing those PREMIUM MODELS (no one touches that IMO) it's just many of us hated the fact that almost half of the rosters won't get the same treatment. Don't get me wrong those standard model looks totally GOOD, the lack of cockpit view is a bummer though.

That is because it is shocking to know the disparities between premium and standard models. I actually still do not believe that difference will be day and night. I think standard models will be reasonable like other racing games. Only when game get released. I will judge it :P
But they will. Take one look at the windows of a standard model & a premium and you'll be able to tell the difference right away.

I know this topic has been beaten to death, but yesterday (Thursday) gran-turismo.com, (the official site) posted new info about GT5. One of the features said that 800 of the standard cars would not have cockpit view. Now today (Friday) I checked the site and they removed that specific info from the site. Anyone know why this is? Posts fly by here so fast its hard to tell what is conformation and what is speculation.

Also someone on here said that gamespot.com and kotaku.com stated that all the standard cars would have cockpit view. I just would like some clarification on this issue.

Ok bro no prob i feel you man but call me desperate but i still feel we will get cockpits for the standard cars. It just will not represent that cars interior 100% the GT5 Japanese site says (translated)

"Standard Car" does not correspond to the interior view.

Definition for correspond- to be similar, analogous, or equal, (to something)

Every time i checked the sight it said

"Standard Car" does not correspond to the interior view.

After reading the "news" most posts, well, alot, i visted gamespot to see what they said, as a comment in "news" seemed to claim they knew something, or interpreted it differently. This is a direct quote from their review staff:

“we were indeed able to look left and right from inside the cockpit of the Dodge Challenger that we’d opted to take for a spin around the new Rome street circuit.”
Read the article, they clearly played the game. (i’m not about to post a gamespot link here ;)).
The name clearly reads: GTP_Hydro….:gtpflag:

As i will not claim to know anything about what is actually in the game, I'm left with a few questions:

Is the Dodge Challenger a “premium car”?
If not, how did they play using the cockpit view? (A demo only kind of thing?)

The push for the headtracking software is everywhere, and well documented.
Do they really want to push a feature so hard that is only available in 20% of the cars? (that's an assumption on my part that it works with the cockpit view exclusively, haven't heard of it in any other view).

All of the cars in GTP had interior views. Why can’t they be included, they are done anyway (the non-premiums)?

Hope i don’t start too big a fire..lol.

I’ll just add this to the disappointed side of the debate if indeed the game leaves most interiors out:

GT5 will be the ultimate sim racer. No one seems to debate that. “Sim” racer to me, has a pretty high standard it would seem. I would like to actually “sit” in the car as i drive it to experience the actual view a real race driver does (even though i’m admittedly faster with the bumper cam, kinda hate it, alot). I’ve never seen a race car driver strapped to the hood, roof, or bumper of the car, let alone drive from there. I don’t want the “tv” views. I want the real thing.
I had the real thing (and still do, and will forever) in GT5P – The Demo of the full game. (Or preview if you wish, not gonna fight over words)

Polyphony Digital, and Sony, through teaser videos and a seemingly endless wait for an actual release date, only made worse for the public by releasing even more teasers, have themselves, raised the bar on expectations to a ridiculous height. If they only include 200 interiors, my own expectations will be, understandably I think, not met.

So yup i’m buying on the first day, and i’m sure i’ll love it, but to only see roughly 130-40 or so new interiors (counting GT5P for the rest) out of what i had truly believed to be 1000 different views, ends all of the latest news on a slight sour note.

Not nearly enough to spoil anything, so i won’t shed a tear if 800 cars have one of my favourite features excluded, but i will be disappointed.

Just sayin…

See you all online Nov.2!!!👍

One thing that still amazes me is how when people hear "car's interior" they don't think about this. We shall see how things work once the game is released, though.

And I agree with Earth in that I would rather have 50 car fields if that meant GT4 style graphics. IMO, 50 > 16, no matter how good the graphics of those 16 are, considering those 50 will have GT4 graphics, which aren't bad in my book.

Can you give me a link to what you are referring to so I can see the difference?

I think it hurts. The premiums made the standards look more butt ugly than they naturally are and the segregation just screams half assed and unfinished.

I would much rather have had just 200 premium cars and had a second bonus game called "GT History HD" or something for the other cars... then it wouldn't feel like they are polluting GT5.

Really it's a dissapointment to be sure and all this time I have agreed with KY's motto of do it right or don't do it at all... now he does it totally wrong.

Sometimes more is not better... especially when that more is sub par. Give me a nicely cooked steak but if all you have is a dried out potato and wilted asparagus for sides, don't even put em on the plate.

Not a fan of the food analogy, but I couldn't have said it any better. Big mistake by Kazunory. Makes the game feel like GT4.5, not GT5, because even with the extensive features list, with even more to come, the principal aspect of the game seems to be half assed. Feels like 80% of the cars were neglected, rushed into the game just so they could brag the game has 1000 cars.

What makes this mistake such a huge one really is that not only us, the fan base, feel bad about it. Casual gamers will also hate it. Since they are what allow GT to grow so much, upsetting them is a bad omen.

So now we went from "standard has no cockpit" to "standard has gt4 graphics"?

Whats next?

Well people are angry and pushing it too far. They certainly have better graphics than GT4, but they're not GT5 graphics, are they? They look somewhat of a GT4.5 and well, that's not good. At all.

I now understand why PD took this long to unveil them.

Here's a better comparison (same size image and quality)

Standard

As a reminder to those who might've forgotten what the cars in GT4 looked like at its best (photo-mode)

The standard models for GT5 looks way better way than GT4 photo mode shot.
👍

Talk about comparing apples and guitars with those images.

*sigh*

What is it with you people and the constant whining about picture quality? If the models were so much better, even a mediocre image would show the differences.

Hmmm. I'm not seeing it. They're pretty much the same.

I can faintly see the interior of the standard models in that shot.

Weren't the 800 standard vehicles upscaled to HD for GT5? there should be differences between the GT4 models and HD versions of it in GT5.

You could see silhouette interiors in GT4 as well.

The actual 3D models are the same in GT5 standard as they are in GT4, but they're just touched up, maybe some nicer textures, and running in a higher resolution graphics engine.

Theres no doubt that the gt5 "standard" cars will look alot better than the gt4 models.

Just be patient until we see some good shots of the standard cars.

Thanks fello NZ. yeah we shall wait for actual shots of it really. 👍

If I recall correctly, wasn't the plan for GTHD to use the photo mode versions of the GT4 cars because they where higher quality?

How they can release the game later with all premium? No way even for GT6.Kaz says: It will took us 10 years to make all cars premium".
Gathering all previous information I can say that it's 50-70 cars per year MAXIMUM.

When I read a list that says that Suzuki Capuccino, Civic Hatchback and Golf IV GTi are premium, and I see on the GT website that a Lambo Countach, Audi R8 GT3 are standards, makes me wanna cry.

I rather wanted 200 premium cars, than 1000 with 800 "half-assed" (sorry for the term).

I was expecting a lot from GT5, and this "car division" is been a major letdown for me.

I don't think it's that big a deal. I've seen a video of the standard cars and they don't look that much worse. In fact, they look pretty good, in my opinion. At least they kept in the 800 standard cars instead of just having the Premium cars and cutting out the rest.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of interior view.

Why not release GT5 with premium cars only and add new premium cars as DLC?
Its the first GT on a new plattform, with a completely new engine and many other new features, that 200 cars whould be ok. It would feel like its GT3 all over again, but Iam fine with it. Releasing a game with 20% good cars and 80% ugly ones does not feel right.
T10 reused most of their Forza 1+2 cars, but at least they all got cockpitview.

It just feels wrong to see cars like these in 1080p:

Edit: At least they look decent in motion.

Hire more people for the job to model all of the 800 cars. Maybe at least 500 employers.

Couldn't agree more!Imagine 18MP screenshots... :ill:

Couldn't agree more, but tell it to PD.

i believe all the cars are going to look good whether they are premium or not but i think before everybody starts going crazy about interior view we should wait and see what happens at gamescon or tokyo game show, or better yet wait till the game comes out to continue this discussion. either way im just happy that we are having a great number of cars that are going to look and feel great :)
