I have no idea what you're talking about with "texture based." Car models have always been made with polygons...and they've always been rendered. How can you see a car on screen if it isn't rendered? If you're referring to the panel gaps that you see outlined with black textures, they're still like that with GT5 standard cars. You can clearly see that they still use the cheap looking black lines. The ONLY differences between GT4/GTPSP models and GT5 standard are the following:
- Some extra polygons, maybe to round off some curves better (this is just an idea, nothing I've seen concrete yet. I'm trying to be somewhat optimistic)
- Higher resolution textures
- 3D wheels ingame as opposed to GT4's flat discs
That's **IT** as far as the ACTUAL car models go. However, GT5's graphics engine obviously runs at a higher resolution and has better lighting effects, so the cars will naturally look better, but that's not due to any actual upgrade to the cars themselves. The cheapo silhouette interiors and dark windows are still in full force, and crappier looking than ever when parked next to a premium car. Anybody who thinks GT5's standard models look as good or better than those of any quality racing game made during the past 2-3 years is kidding themselves. I haven't seen a game use generic silhouette interiors since..........GT4.
