Zero Cup

I'll be sure to practice before next week's event instead of spending all my PS3 time on JRPGs like I did this week.

I just got FF8 on the Steam Sale, good old nostalgia, and I can finally play the last disk (my PS disc4 broke, never managed to replace and finish it). I can completely feel you on the "no practice" and "JRPG are fun" sentiment. Come to think of it, I never practice for the Zero cup or any other series that has no seasonal scoreboard.

Happened to me in the past... :boggled:Don't know about you but for me it has been often the stress and frustration carried to the track more than anything happening on track. After all it is a game played with excellent people I respect. Sure there have been miscalculations and pure errors but so what. For me, in the end, close driving side by side and small battles are more important than results.

Trying to keep that in mind in the future and leave the little stress I have (on study leave from work, wohoo! :D) behind before joining :)

Happy Holidays!

Exactly, I failed to leave my baggage at the door to the driving room this time. :D When I'm suddenly fighting the urge to use the chrome horn on people I normally enjoy racing with, it's time to pull over and cool my head. :)

P.s. What JRPG you playing amar?

Mainly Ni No Kuni right now, just finished up the main story and am now in the post-game sidequest phase, which makes it easier to set aside and get some laps in. Also pecking away at FFXIII and the most recent Star Ocean.

Nice, FFVIII was one of the few FF's that I actually finished (along with VI and IX). I have a bad track record when it comes to actually completing RPGs., half the time I get up to the final boss and stop....

Since the Zero Cup is the only series that I run in now, I feel almost obligated to practice and show up prepared... especially since I have no natural talent to speak of and have to put in at least a race distance worth of practice to not be a hazard on track. :scared:

Definitely practicing with this week's car, the Ferrari is a lot of fun. Really great without ABS, I highly suggest giving it a go that way. 👍

Well done everyone, this was great fun again!

I really enjoyed my fights in race 1 and 3. I was inexistent in race 2 because of the rain and I had no CS tyres to put on.

The results above stand, despite someone's hopeful driving at the Nurburgring! :D
I won't mention any names...

Now I have a few questions for you guys, some of which I have already mentionned. Please, if you can take 5 min to reply to some or all of these, I'll appreciate.

1. Should I limit the random weather to up to 70 or 80 (with surface set accordingly) so we get a better chance for the track to evolve?

2. When it's raining, should we be allowed to put on CS from the start?

3. Project CARS is around the corner (hopefully). I am more than likely going to move on completely and will probably discontinue the Zero Cup. That is, unless all of you stay on GT6 and demand that we carry on. Who will do the switch? (note: for now, I'm going to plan events up to and including the 16th March)

4. Anyone plays on DriveClub? (note: I don't have a wheel for the PS4 yet)

2. When it's raining, should we be allowed to put on CS from the start?..might be good for those who cannot drive in the rain :):)

(note: for now, I'm going to plan events up to and including the 16th March)..this game was in the air for me and was 50/50..its a cert to buy now after looking into it, i dont know how leagues will work but mines pre ordered :)

4. Anyone plays on DriveClub? (note: I don't have a wheel for the PS4 yet)...wouldnt be seen dead getting it, seems like they conned everyone, i know someone who has it and he says its like dodgems online but he says the single player is ok, ive never played it as they promised it free for ps4 subscribers(well part of the game) and have still not sorted that out ..also i have about 50 golf friends online playing a game called "the golf club" they play other games on the ps4...fifa, call of duty ect....maybe il see 1 the odd time playing drive club, a few play need for speed :boggled:

1) more variety with weather could be interesting.
2) I'm rubbish when it comes to driving on extremely wet surfaces but I do enjoy the ability pit stop and change tires. It adds strategy to the whole race and I like the challenge.
3) pcars has interested me a bit. I'd have to look into it more. I most likely won't pre order but I do have a ps4. I've enjoyed racing with this group so I would be sad to see it go.
4) I don't play drive club

1) Limiting the weather to 70 or 80 sounds like a smart move. If that means the weather can change both ways not be stuck at 100% for most of the race.

2. If point 1 works, I like it how it is. Gives room for different strategies, weather could clear instead of getting worse :)

3. No PS4 yet, but if there is a sweet PCARS bundle in sale sometime, might just get it.

4. Drive Club is Arcade right? Haven't thought about it as a option so far.

As a sidenote. I did get GRID Autosport from PSN (Less than 20 eurobucks!). The career mode does not interest me that much but Custom Races with Honda S2000 are sweet. Smiling all the time driving that game. Even if it might be bit arcadeish, it is so in a good way 👍

So if anyone has a club in GAS, send me an invite or something :)

1. Should I limit the random weather to up to 70 or 80 (with surface set accordingly) so we get a better chance for the track to evolve?
-The weather shouldn't matter much if we allow question #2

2. When it's raining, should we be allowed to put on CS from the start?
-I was honestly surprised that the rule existed, lower grade tyres should always be allowed in my opinion. They give no advantage in the dry and everyone can do it in the wet.

-I'm not buying a PS4, payed online service is a turnoff, and my PS3 was only purchased for 2 games: Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo. With Project Cars coming up, I'm investing into a higher spec computer (+integrated rig with 3 monitors) and will be switching. If the group stays on GT6, I'll continue showing up however.

4. Anyone plays on DriveClub? (note: I don't have a wheel for the PS4 yet)
-Isn't there an update for PS4 compatibility for the G27 and T500? As mentioned, I'm not buying a PS4. I'm turning into a /r/pcmasterrace type guy. There has just never been a comparable game to GT on PC and my racing focus is shifting slightly since youth.

1 - variable weather is always good
2 - yes
3 - i don't have a ps4 and don't know when or if i'll get one in the near future. I'd have to buy a new wheel too, since g25 would't work.. If the championship keeps going, i'l probably show up :)

Thanks for the replies so far, I'm getting a good idea of how to handle the worst weather but I'm open to more suggestions.

And I knew I was forgetting a question:

5. Which car already used do you want to see again?

1- variable weather always good.
2- yes.
3- no PS4, so won't be crossing over, still enjoying games, on PS3. Unemployed so would have to save up, for a new console. Would also need a new wheel, more cost, more to save. Or cheaper option, use controller. PS4 would probably be my last console, I don't think can miss the chance, of driving round the TT circuit. The old circuit, layouts on, Project Cars, that were promised, would be great as well, but Im not rushing out, to preorder.

4- don't play any arcade, racers, seen them played, look great, just not for me.

Allways be here as long as the club is:tup:

@WarriusZero , I have been thinking about the GT Community stuff. It would be great to have a single Stock Racing Club as a roof organization so instead of having number of clubs struggling to get grid full there would be one club with hundreds of drivers and hosts can recruit from that pool to fill the grid... There is one club called "Stock Real Racing Club" (1001891)
that seems the largest I have seen. Very fast and clean drivers over there with over 200 members and couple of dozen actives I believe...

Only few of us would probably be able to keep up with the pace but would be great to see a full grid in a stock race 👍

The owner is a cool Finnish guy (top 10 in Europe, I believe) and hopes to have others host events under the club. Too bad that PDI does not allow multiple admins for a club...

Just a thought... :)

Well originally the Zero Cup was separating itself from other stock clubs by a feature that has yet to appear on GT6. In the past, only custom created tracks where used and I assume this will once again be the case once we get a course creator.

Wow, I didn't know that! Interesting :)

Indeed, I've been waiting for the custom tracks to make their return in the Zero Cup... and I'm growing impatient! :irked:
Actually, on GT5, we would have 2 races per event, one on a custom track, the other on an 'official' track (25 min each). I spent more hours creating tracks than on any other feature besides driving itself.

Other things are specific to the Zero Cup: the GYF, the grid order, multiple tracks for one event, etc... and it would probably be confusing to have a different set of rules for events of a same club (although not impossible). I wouldn't want to impose my verbose Rule Book!

Another problem with having everyone joining a single club is that I couldn't create my events via the Community Club Events feature, it would be a shame as it's a nice thing to have.

I think it's not a bad thing that the Zero Cup has its own club. I think that's also how PD envisioned it.
And it's good that we have this kind of 'recruitment' process, or more precisely a way to control that people know what they are stepping in. Or should it be a public club rather than a private one? I'm hesitant because it could bring potential issues as well as advantages (possibility to open up to random folks who are here only to fool around).

Where we can definitely improve things, though, is to set up some advertising between clubs, in the News section, for example.
By giving this kind of visibility to other clubs, we can open up to a greater number of drivers without losing the Zero Cup's identity, as well as the Stock Real Racing club's identity. And keep things tidy.

It's something that we can discuss with @Zkippe (hello Zkippe!).
