I'm a little confused about the tire situation.
Maybe the rulebook update will clear it up though...
But I'm not sure I've understood it to begin with. :dopey:
As I understood, 70% or lower was the norm? So now you're making it more likely?
Or have I misunderstood?

Also with the tires, can someone explain to me the issue with what tires you'd want to use when?

Here's some context:

When the weather was random, it could be anything between 0 and 100. Now it will be anything between 0 and 80.
The reason is that it's almost undrivable at 100, and also it rarely dries up from 100.

Going only up to 80, there's a chance for the track surface to improve during the race, making it more interesting (as the time is x3).

As for the tyres, if we're supposed to race with Sports Tyres, we used to have the option to pit and use Comfort tyres. The change is that from now on, we'll be able to start the race with Comforts in case it's raining. The reason being that Sports Tyres are useless on the wet.

The Rule Book is now updated. The changes are in the sections Random Weather and Tyres.

The random weather formula is the same, it's the random number range that has changed (now between 26 and 92). The result is 73% chance of dry weather, as follows:

(Note the 20 replaced by 25)

And then:

Tyres
The calendar always indicates what tyres should be used for an event.
In case of rain, though, it is possible to start the race with lower grade tyres, usually to put Comfort tyres instead of Sports. It is also possible to revert back to the default tyres if the track dries up.

Sorry I'll miss this one.
I would've only been able to do the first race, anyway. But frankly, I hate this car and stink most royally in it anyhow, so at least there's that consolation.

But I'm looking forward to getting better acquainted with the 120d next week. 👍
I'll see you all then.

Good luck today & have fun!

The Zero Cup is based on these principles and features:

The Zero Cup is now a formal private club listed on Gran Turismo's official website.

The first race starts as early as 8:05pm GMT so don't be late!
For all the details, YOU MUST READ THE RULE BOOK CAREFULLY.
If you don't, you will have some surprises and it will get noticed.

If you want to join us, you must first post a reply here, answering these questions:
- Have you read both the RULE BOOK and OLR?
- Do you have any experience racing cleanly online?
- Have you sent me a friend request (or will do so as soon as possible)?
- Have you connected your PS3 to your router using an ethernet cable?

Only once your application is accepted here, you will receive your invitation to the Club.

Hi guys I want to join tonight races
I read the rules and I have experience clean online races and I have cable connection but I need to add psn friend request ( the host I think)

Great racing again, also an apology for race 2 in the rain, I should have GYF it when 13 secs ahead, I didnt do so for 2 reasons

1..I wanted to win a race :D

2,.I actually forgot how to, I never expected to be in the lead like that to be honest, if it rains again and im someowe winning with a decent lead il GYF it.

Cheers.

You can try this @watermelon punch :

Turn ABS off for a while, keep stock BB. Pick a track with different braking zones. I like Motegi.

At some speed do full brake and see which tires lock first. Adjust until all tires lock about same time unless you like to spin the rear a bit :)

Generally I end up with something between 4/6 and 3/7

If you still want the abs on after playing with this do so :)

With ABS on you probably can add a step or two up both rear and front

I have actually gotten some cars to get some slip even with abs1 this way few times

I've only just done a little practice, but I'm liking 5/9 so far. Haven't run at Madrid yet, though. Usually street circuits are rather more slippy and I drop the brakes by 1 or 2 front and back for those.

Hm, that's a good point about city streets.
And if you hadn't guessed... actually Madrid Reverse was my main concern regarding hard braking and sloppiness. (With the other night's race in mind. :guilty:  )

:nervous:

I've just added to the calendar the (alleged) last two Zero Cup events of the GT6 era.

"Alleged" because unless Project CARS is delayed or it doesn't live up to the expectations, I don't see myself staying on GT6. I actually believe I will play mostly offline for a little while.

On this basis, considering the good attendance we have on average, it'd be cool if someone takes over organising races for Monday evenings. Under the Zero Cup banner or not...

Mondays have been pretty good for me. So I should be joining any Stock event happening at this time slot. If I am not out of town that is.

@WarriusZero if I may ask. Is it effort of hosting the weekly race or the technical continuous PDi issues that put you off?

I have been trying to start a club but finding and keeping a weekly slot happens to be difficult at my current stage of life... :(

I could join in joined hosting if there are others who cannot commit to hosting weekly races... I could probably host one or two times a month. Just a thought...

@hainuinimic at 18:10 it should not be pitch black. It definitely wasn't when I tried (I remember checking the light level up to 19:10, the expected end time). If it happens to be pitch black then I'll change the time because this track is well known for being undrivable at night. 👍

@Cu3e Hosting races depends very much on 2 factors: the people and the rules.
1. The people here all know each other and respect each other, we've had months with hardly any issues, I rarely spend time watching replays to sort out race incidents. So this part is not an issue, it's a breeze.

2. I've set up the rules of the Zero Cup so I wouldn't have to spend ages sorting it out. One car, no tuning, etc... well, you know the format, it's the simplest format ever. It suits us as drivers (I hope, by now) and it suits me as the organiser.

The only remotely complicated part of the Zero Cup is the grid order of the 1st race of the evening, but a clever spreadsheet is doing all the hard work for me.

I'm not saying that if someone takes over organising, (s)he should follow the same format as mine, but there are ways to make it easy and painless (and for the complicated bits, I volunteer to automate it). Sharing the load is also an option, each person could come up with their own car/track line up...

I've decided to move away from GT6 because apart from the Zero Cup, I spend very very close to no time at all on the game. And sometimes I just want to enjoy racing at other times than Monday evenings, i.e. against an AI, and I haven't done it for at least 2 years.
I'm also still waiting to be able to create and enjoy my own tracks and clearly I've had enough of waiting.

Project CARS promises to be almost everything I've wanted GT to be (almost because there won't be as many road cars) and a lot more. It's very possibly going to eat all my playing time and a lot more...
(My wife should be warned but I can't bear to give her the bad news)

All the above and considering that the PS3 I'm currently using is not mine, this is why I believe I will be retiring from GT6 by the 20th March. Unless Project CARS is delayed, of course...

Project wont be delayed, i think it was only delayed as they didnt want to clash with fifa and call of duty release( i maybe wrong) theres some excellent games due out..project cars..metal gear solid 5 spring to mind...maybe the new pga golf also....not forgeting gran turismo 7 when its released...im guessing a year at the earliest :odd:

Good racing today, other than my goofs, that is.

@John Wells When I went speeding off track like I was going to totally cut that area :ill: :scared: - that was a total mistake... I didn't know where i was going & lost track of where the track was. :guilty:
OH my, I would never try to cut the track like that. And so spectacularly. It was very embarrassing. :dunce:

Here are the official results for tonight.
Note that @Cu3e , who won the 3rd race, is now showing up in 4th and @MrRossy46 is now 3rd instead of 2nd. This is because they received respectively a 5 sec and a 2.5 sec penalty.
Both nudged @LongbowX off the track but while @MrRossy46 managed to make @LongbowX lose more time, I have to give him a bit the benefit of the doubt. He was slightly ahead and could not really see exactly where @LongbowX was.
However, @Cu3e could clearly see what was happening as he was quite behind the flying Canadian before hitting him. Mistakes happen and I understand, when you're in the last lap, you really want to fight for the win instead of giving back the spot...
Sorry guys, I just couldn't do nothing. No hard feelings I hope.

And since he brought it up, I'll give @MrWhite1972 a warning for ignoring the blue flags!! :P

And @hainuinimic , it's a good thing it was me on the receiving end and it was an accidental wheel on the grass the cause, because you nudged me in race 1 (lap 2)... :P We'll call it a race incident...

Ps, its ok to Beeep me road runner style if im in the way :D

Must admit i did feel at the time it was a bit unwanted as i was kind of pulling over anyway, anyone about to lap me gets a free pass, i would never hold anyone up.

Car tonight was pointless for me, if you hit a wall your knackered in purgatory for 20 mins like those people on LOST.

Il probobly be missing a few races if the cars are as slow as this one.

Im not mocking the car, its just a bit slow for me.

sorry.

@WarriusZero I think that's perfectly fair. And I think you're quite right about @MrRossy46, although he did use all of the track - I can understand that he might not have seen me and it was a bit risky.

@Cu3e None at all - you were driving a great race. Last laps are tough, and that would be more than legal in the BTCC. The traffic made it extra challenging as well.
