A few 10ths of a second aren't going to make any difference unless someone else has a time in between those times!
@ Hereward: the reason your time is showing ABS is probably because the game defaulted to an assist setting. It sometimes does that. Always check the settings before starting your run.
At this point, I will allow
existing times set with aids, because:
1) I'm not sure it's going to make any difference to the standings anyway &
2) I think we should get started.
I have had a request to allow "braking zones", from a certain "Down-Under" racer. Personally, I can't see any point in using the racing line or braking zones. I
never used them: they are not "realistic" & stand in the way of properly learning the tracks, which is what you really want to happen.
I am also against the use of any other assists (other than automatic), because I think FC is already "easy enough", & I think the more unfiltered & raw the racing is, the more unpredictable & exciting it is. Pushing as fast as you can, with the constant possibility that if you push too hard you will run off the track, is what makes this game great.
HOWEVER, as this Ladder is essentially a one-on-one championship, I think we could leave the matter of racing line & assists to the choice of each one-on-one matches. In other words: the DEFAULT is:
no racing line,
no assists. If BOTH (or in multi-player matches) ALL agree in advance, the racing line &/or assists can be allowed.
The DEFAULT car is the F430, but I really hope everyone will use other cars as much as possible.
The DEFAULT racing schedule is 5 tracks of 5 minutes each, 3 tracks chosen by the Challenger, 2 by the Challenged racer, but any other arrangement can be made at the discretion of the participating racers. Again, I hope everyone will use as many of the tracks as possible rather than "specialising" in a few of the tracks.
DEFAULT is the Challenged racer hosts.
It should be possible to run matches with up to 4 racers (adjoining on the Ladder) - which seems like an optimum number for the limitations of FC's online mode - in which case the finishing positions would decide the Ladder positions for those 4 racers. In a one-on-one match, if the Challenger wins, he (or she!
) takes the position formerly occupied by the losing Challenged racer,
the losing Challenged racer moves one place down the ladder. This is different from what was originally proposed. I think it may work better, because it means that a racer who does not participate in matches, will automatically gradually move down the Ladder.
We can add other "rules" when the need arises.
Please contact any "Friends" who have not yet signed-up. I am going to try & recruit some other non-GTP Friends I race with on a regular basis. Perhaps we can still allow some of these latecomers to slot into the Ladder based on their TT times - if nobody objects to this...
