ups my bad :)
i think we are in for som close races gt-rs
but it dosent matter about the time.
only the top tree.the rest can challenge up and we can be challenged
by those who are under :)

1:56.70. I even took a bloody picture since I was worried it wouldn't take! LOL! And of course this time it worked. BTW, I had a 1:56.40 earlier and it didn't post. But when the screen came up with the text "The Record for Mugello is XXXX it did not show the 1:56.40 so I knew it wasn't going to take.

But let's leave my time at 1:56.70. It's hard for me to even do that consistently so it's probably more realistic.

It says I had ABS on although I diddnt, I can get 1.56s that fairly consistantly so I'll do some more today and try and get it to register without ABS

Edit

Just done a few more laps and made sure everything was off, 1:56.06 got a 55 in there somewhere, currently 99th fastest in the world and I'm one of the slower guys LOL

uh oh, today is the deadline, isn't it? I did a few runs last friday and my time was somewhere in the second 56, I don't know if it shows up on the leaderboard.

If I don't manage to post it here (or try any better) still today, will the "leaderboard" time (if indeed it's there) be considered?

1.56:49 It says I had ABS on although I diddnt...

:ouch: I'm telling you, the leaderboards are really a thorn in the side. This was the 4th night I've tried to set a time and it FINALLY took.

A lot of you guys can get down into the 1:55s. Impressive. And I was really pushing to get into the 1:56s. I might try a few practice runs in "quick race" mode with the racing line on to see if I can improve. There's obviously more time to be gained but I'm not sure where. Every time I tried to adjust my lines last night in TT I just ended up slower.

@Hun200kmh, I know you have a time posted. I think it was 1:56xx but I can't remember exactly.

A few 10ths of a second aren't going to make any difference unless someone else has a time in between those times!

@ Hereward: the reason your time is showing ABS is probably because the game defaulted to an assist setting. It sometimes does that. Always check the settings before starting your run.

At this point, I will allow existing times set with aids, because:

1) I'm not sure it's going to make any difference to the standings anyway &

2) I think we should get started.

I have had a request to allow "braking zones", from a certain "Down-Under" racer. Personally, I can't see any point in using the racing line or braking zones. I never used them: they are not "realistic" & stand in the way of properly learning the tracks, which is what you really want to happen.

I am also against the use of any other assists (other than automatic), because I think FC is already "easy enough", & I think the more unfiltered & raw the racing is, the more unpredictable & exciting it is. Pushing as fast as you can, with the constant possibility that if you push too hard you will run off the track, is what makes this game great.

HOWEVER, as this Ladder is essentially a one-on-one championship, I think we could leave the matter of racing line & assists to the choice of each one-on-one matches. In other words: the DEFAULT is: no racing line, no assists. If BOTH (or in multi-player matches) ALL agree in advance, the racing line &/or assists can be allowed.

The DEFAULT car is the F430, but I really hope everyone will use other cars as much as possible.

The DEFAULT racing schedule is 5 tracks of 5 minutes each, 3 tracks chosen by the Challenger, 2 by the Challenged racer, but any other arrangement can be made at the discretion of the participating racers. Again, I hope everyone will use as many of the tracks as possible rather than "specialising" in a few of the tracks.

DEFAULT is the Challenged racer hosts.

It should be possible to run matches with up to 4 racers (adjoining on the Ladder) - which seems like an optimum number for the limitations of FC's online mode - in which case the finishing positions would decide the Ladder positions for those 4 racers. In a one-on-one match, if the Challenger wins, he (or she! :)) takes the position formerly occupied by the losing Challenged racer, the losing Challenged racer moves one place down the ladder. This is different from what was originally proposed. I think it may work better, because it means that a racer who does not participate in matches, will automatically gradually move down the Ladder.

We can add other "rules" when the need arises.

Please contact any "Friends" who have not yet signed-up. I am going to try & recruit some other non-GTP Friends I race with on a regular basis. Perhaps we can still allow some of these latecomers to slot into the Ladder based on their TT times - if nobody objects to this...

I might aswell be slotted in last in the ladder. My fastest time is with abs/racing line on so I don't think it ever recorded my time with no assists which was over 2 minutes. So I think it's safe to say I will go last on the ladder anyhow :)

Biggles, I have a few questions, hope you don't mind:

1. When is the deadline today? Your 24:00 ? How does that relate to GMT?

2. What do you mean F430 is the default car? Isn't the choice of car given to the challenger? If I challenge someone else naming three tracks and the 50's Testaroosa, is the challenged allowed to answer "no"?

3. Does the challenged have a time-limit to answer, or is there a time-limit to do the races? It seems there's no penalty for refusing challenges but anyway your rule about "moving down the ladder anyway" only applies if someone else above you in the ladder accepts a challenge and loses. Giving an extreme example, if I get very lucky and reach the top spot, there's no limit to the time I'll stay there as long as I keep refusing all challenges.

4. I prefer the "no-assists" rule to the "assists based on challenger/challenged agreement", I think it's more fair on all players, but I understand that in the end it won't make much difference, so whatever.

In fact, I'll try to run this again tonight (if the deadline is your 24:00) because I think my time trial laptime was made using the "braking zones" line and I don't want to be placed in the ladder with that one.

Yes, deadline is 24.00 Eastern Standard Time ie. midnight tonight in Eastern N.A.

I prefer "no assists", but as you say, it's not going to make much difference. It may make FC newbies more comfortable about entering.

No, the choice of car is not given to the Challenger, it is to be decided by the participants together. If they cannot agree, the default car is the F430. We could even change the default car periodically to make sure we have some variety.

I'm assuming that everyone will co-operate in making the Ladder work properly. It's true that ALL the racers could just "sit" there refusing all challenges, in which case no one would ever move anywhere! I am assuming, as there is no money involved ;), that this will not happen. If it does, we will have to take appropriate action:

Any of the "rules" may need to be changed if they don't work properly in practice.

Lazy fellow, couldn't you tell me how that weird EST you guys have there relates to GMT? :D

I'll have to look that out myself ... :D :D

EDIT: ok, found it, it's 5:00 AM here :D :D :D

midnight EST = GMT - 5 (5:00 am). Right around your normal bedtime. ;)

Well, my assumption was that you would realise that it was well after midnight European time - when all good little boys should be fast asleep.

YEah, I think that gives me around 4 hours of playtime before I go to bed. It'll be enough ;)

EDIT: the kids go to bed well before midnight, but the wife is still trying to see if she's able to stay awake long enough to make me quit gaming. Now she goes to bed only at about 1:00 AM :banghead:

Actually if deadline is then. I'll do a few laps when I wake up.

laptime : 1:59.12

Thanks got for that, that gives me 5 and a half hours to improve on my frankly poor 1.57.70, which was the time i set when i had a chance during the week, but im sure theres plenty i can cut off. I'll be back ;)

Ok i'm back, i managed a 1.55.72 today, No aids, no line, manual transmission. Should be on the boards soon. I think i'll settle for that my driving was getting steadily worse after that plus nearly 2 seconds off my original time isn't too bad.

Yes the new times on there already, im at 57th, pretty damn proud of that!

Saying that the top runners are in the 1.53's :/ that is mental fast

SEGEL indicated on the PSN today that he would like to participate. He had the fastest time at 1:53.17, but sarrinen69 just laid down a 1:53.14 to take "pole" - unless anyone fancies taking a run at that time in the remaining 4 hours...

Oh no
Not SEGEL again:)
played him several times this past week-end.
If he has to participate he has to use a car and not that low going
fighter plane he was using when i played him:scared:

i will try to get yakess2 and Zedux involved these 2 are amazing drivers, check the leader board they are in top ten most tracks, will give sarrin69, and segal a hand full.

I took out the braking zones line and, after a few missed brakings, I managed a 1.56.44. I can definitely gain time on that, but for now I'llleave it at that. guess it puts me at the bottom of the ladder but, then again, from there I have only one way possible ... and that is UP! :D

I have posted most of the times (on page one of this thread). Would the remaining racers please post their times following this.

Some of the racers appear to have used assists, in spite of the "rules" set for the TT. We'll figure out how to deal with that tomorrow.

In the meantime, we seem to have a pretty close spread of times, except for the gap between myself, & SEGEL & sarrinen69 - so I, apparently, have no where to go but down... :nervous:

I am hoping we will, over time, get a lot more racers joining the Ladder...
