Good news all round :D

I couldn't odds it. I didn't get as much lag when the three of us were in your Pod, but when we were in J-Pap's Pod it was quite bad - though it shouldn't make any difference as it's P2P... I was contemplating hooking up to the wired PS3 to see if it was an issue at my end. But having nearly snapped a DS3 I'd run out of patience to.

I dragged my other half's Sackgirl in to play but, oddly, despite her being on my Friends list I didn't get the trophy...
I could have told you in advance that thsi does not work. They cannot be friends that are playing on the same system at the same time.

I agree. Heck MM agrees. They say whoever your slowest member is will be the one to blame for lag and no matter who hosts it won't change. The only time I can see hosting making a difference to the entire party is in the pod.

They have said they are working on their netcode, but it has been well over a month since they said that. Fortunatley, they did make improvements before then. Online with more than one other person was just not doable for me for the first month or two. Now I just get lag, not dropped. And if I turn off my mic my lag decreases to very tolerable levels.

In terms of lag, there clearly is a lot more to all of this as I have had very little lag to mostly no lag and recently I have been playing lots of online 2-4 player games and always have my mic turned on. Granted, I get about 10Mb/s download and 2Mb/s upload speeds on my PS3 through WiFi so that may help. Certainly the old YMMV disclaimer seems to ring true here.

On a different note... I had a feeling it wasn't going to be long before toy companies and even collectible statue companies would start to come out with LBP Sackboys... from a recent Sack it to Me post:

The very first LittleBigPlanet merchandise makes its ‘littlebig’ debut this week with a brand new action-figure line featuring an assortment of 4″ scale Sackboys in all his textured and stitched glory, displaying various characters, poses, and costumes. Those attending the 2009 International Toy Fair in New York will be among the few who will catch the very first glimpse of the action-figures that will be available at select mass market, specialty and online stores across North America beginning this Spring.

Toy developer and manufacturer, Mezco Toyz, will also release retailer exclusives, variants and limited-edition Sackboys throughout the year, which will range between 2″ and 18″ scale figurines.

If you happen to be attending the 2009 International Toy Fair, feel free to drop by the Mezco Toyz booth at the Jacob Javits Center (#4823) for your sneak peek at the new action-figures. However, if Toy Fair isn’t on the list of your destinations this year, plan on coming by their booth at the 2009 Comic-Con International Show this summer in sunny San Diego.

Stuff’d SackBoys (and SackGirls)

You’ll be glad to know that the highly sought after, officially licensed SackBoy plushies are on their way. Unfortunately, we still need some time to knit, stitch, and stuff a few loose ends before we reveal more…

Last week we introduced the 4″ SackBoys to be featured at Toy Fair 2009 in NY. Check out Geekanerd’s latest trip to the fair with a bunch of new picks, including a peek at the 2″ figures + keychain prototypes.

…but stay tuned, we have tons more of great news soon.

Well, I've just published my first level - Little Rainbow Islands Planet...

It's neither lengthy nor brilliant - and there's a few things I'd like to improve upon when I get some time to examine it more closely. Hopefully at least 50 people like it :D

Incidentally, how does one keep track of played Community Levels? Apparently for the Share trophy you need to play 150 levels!

When they fix the Share Create Play scores to actualy keep track. Until then you just kind of have to keep playing until the trophy shows up. When that happens you know you have played 150 levels.

You could create a level with little hash marks on a wall for every level you played so we can all keep track with you.

Looking forward to playing it, thanks!

There is no way I am aware of... which has never made sense to me. In fact, one of the things I really wish LBP had was a stats page.

I would find it useful and interesting to be able to check to see how many different levels I have played and well as how many times I've played a specific level... among other stats.

The other thing I really wish LBP had was a timer so that I can also be able to see how fast I can get through a level and compare my times with others. As it is now, the only way to do that is with a stop watch, but that has it's own limitations as well... especially if you are trying to compare your times with others. It's really to bad as I have found doing speed runs is a lot of fun, and if it was officially supported with stats, I'm sure it would create that much more interest in the game, especially for those who are not all that interested in community levels for one reason or another.

That said, you can keep track of how many levels you have hearted, and thus as long as you heart every level you play, then you will be able to know when you have reached 150 levels... personally though, I wouldn't trouble myself to do that. Besides, if you did that it would make trying to find the quality levels among those you hearted all that much harder to find to play again.

Another thing I wish LBP had was a list of the people who hearted me personally. While it is possible to look at another person's LBP profile and look on their LBP user globe of creators they hearted to see if you are on it (if they hearted more than 30 creators, you may have to check additional pages using the R1 button) , that will only tell you if they specifically hearted you.

Apparently for the Share trophy you need to play 150 levels!
That's what the Share trophy is for? I though you needed to go into someones pod and place 150 giant, indigo circle stickers. :grumpy:

So we saw mashups of LBP sackboys singing famous songs, followed by musicians making songs inside LBP, and would be film makers have been making short films in LBP.... now we have music videos in LBP:

To top it all off... we not only saw one marriage proposal in LBP:

And now there's going to be a wedding as well:

So what's the most creative and or original use of LBP that you have come across?

Nice... now all you need is a helmet and a really fast motorcycle! ;)

Oh and it appears LBP added to its large collection of awards by winning most of the awards it was nominated for including Console Game of the Year at the 12th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards in Las Vegas.

Here are all the AIC awards it won:
  • Console Game of the Year
  • Family Game of the Year
  • Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction
  • Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction
  • Outstanding Achievement in Visual Engineering
  • Outstanding Innovation in Gaming
  • Outstanding Character Performance
It was also nominated for the following awards:
  • Outstanding Achievement in Soundtrack
  • Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design
  • Overall Game of the Year

It appears I was mistaken... it also won Overall Game of the Year.

Someone's tagged my Rainbow Islands level as "Repetitive". Of course it's repetitive, you arse! It's an LBP duplicate of an early 1990s platform game!

I'd like my level to be a little longer, so I think I'll tack on levels 2 and 3 on top of it.

LBP tags are about as useful as YouTube Comments.

Even though I had never heard of the game it was based on, I enjoyed it. My only suggestion might be to add a timer/race and start it at the very beginning and have the finish line at the very end, so that one might be able to improve their score, thus encourage replay and friendly competition among players. 👍

As it is now, it's fairly easy to get the max score of 6,400 regardless of how fast you do it.... which so far, my best time was just under 1 minute (57 seconds).

I wouldn't worry about that. The more people play your level the more accurate the Tags become as only the three most commonly used tags for your level will be shown on the main level profile.

In addition, you can mention in your level's description page what tags you feel most represent your level, and this way you may find others tagging your level accordingly.

Here are all the possible tags in LBP, so which three do you think best represent what your level is like?
  1. Annoying
  2. Artistic
  3. Balancing
  4. Beautiful
  5. Boring
  6. Boss

I'll be looking forward to trying it out when you do, or if or when you make any changes to the current level. 👍

News from the PlayStation Blog. It was actually about Patapon 2, but along the way he dropped a little LBP tie-in that will be coming:

PATAPONS ARE INVADING LITTLEBIGPLANET!!!

Nice! Although I wish they would release a PS3 version of Patapon. :indiff:

Speaking of upcoming LBP costumes based on video game characters...

And for trivia fans... and to go well with all the LittleBuzzLevels:

Also, like the recent release of the God of War pack, it appears they are also going to release the Nariko (Heavenly Sword) costume which like the GOW pack, was originally only available through a special pre-order promotion:

Although this pic may not be accurate... as I have the Nariko costume set... and it looks different and MUCH better than that pic - for instance her hair in LBP is a huge anime style pony tail just like in the game, and of course it comes with the huge Heavenly Sword attached to her back.

If you read the comments on that blog post someone actually requested it and the guy responded with something about how with component cables you can play it on your TV. :indiff:

Honestly though, you almost need headphones to block out any noise that could throw you off your beat. My wife and I have had an argument or three about her attempting to talk to me while I am playing. Want to guess what my "get away from it all" game is?

If non-preorderers get a lesser version it will save me from making the complaints about the uselessness of preorder bonuses. In fact, just not giving buyers the sword would make me happy.

You're sooo mean! ;)

(especially considering I understand you were able to get the GOW pack for free from a generous friend way back when following the release of LBP, just as I was able to get the Nariko costume at the same time from an equally generous friend) :)

Besides, not only did those with the pre-order promotions get it a few months before anyone else, but if it's like the GOW pack, it won't be free.... so does that make you feel a tad better? ;)

Also, wasn't it you, or some others that were complaining about how unfair pre-order promotions are, as one would have to buy multiple copies of the game to get them all, and that they should release the promotional content for a fee for those that would like it, but couldn't take advantage of the pre-order promotion? It could have been someone else... but heaven knows people were certainly upset that they couldn't even purchase the promotional content.

I don't think I liked the multiple stores options of multiple DLCs, mainly because I dislike GameStop with a passion, so when GameStop is involved I complain.

Does LBP Support Voice Chat-I have had the game since launch and have never been able to find this feature?
Yes. If you have your headset connected and setup before you start the game it should be working the moment you go online. It is just on all the time, so there is no button to press.

If you don't think you have it on or your headset setup properly you can find the options for it by hitting the Start button.

When you talk your Sackboy will lip synch your speech.

buzz one gives me some ideas for a new costume :)

Let me guess... 'Flame' from Fantastic Four? Buddy Holly? Drew Carey? Flame Boy ;)

If you don't think you have it on or your headset setup properly you can find the options for it by hitting the Start button.

Just to expand on that, seeing as I've run into some who despite pressing start, still didn't see or understand how to adjust the settings for voice chat...

Once you press start, select Settings, then select Audio Settings, then select USB Headset Config (even if you are using the PS Eye for the mic). This will now take you to your PS3's Audio Device Settings.

You can do the same thing while still playing LBP or any game for that matter, by just pressing the PS button to bring up the XMB, then in the Settings menu bar select the Accessory Settings menu and then select Audio Device Settings. In that menu you can select what device you want to use as your mic (input), and what device you want to use to listen with (output).

Keep in mind, your choices will be limited to what audio devices (Bluetooth headsets, PS Eye, etc) that you have already paired with your PS3. If you have a headset or audio device, but it isn't showing up in the list of choices when you press input or output, then follow the instructions on how to pair that device with your PS3.

For LBP, I recommend you always set the audio output to a headset, because unfortunately LBP still does not allow you to adjust the volume of the music and sound effects - your only choice is the ability to turn on or off the music in the game or in your pod. :odd:

The problem is that when you set chat audio output to be listened to with all the other game sounds, either through the TV or sound system (System Default Device), it makes it VERY hard to hear what the other players are saying!

haha actually when you said drew carey i thought dilbert one might be doable.

Or better yet, Dilbert's office mate, Wally (just need a coffee mug object to put in his hand). Or even Milton from Office Space fame! (especially if you can somehow make it look like he is holding a red Swingline stapler, or put a post-it sticker on his back.) :D:tup:

Heck with those glasses and the Bouffant Hairdo Wig, you could even make a pretty decent Sarah Palin sackgirl... however, you might get slapped around in a multi-player game. ;)

i was actually thinking more

Who is that?
