So has anyone from GTP been "crowned" yet?
Odds are, no. They have only given out a few and do not expect to give out more than 50 over the next year.

Isn't that meant to be some part of a prize for a competition?
Yes, they are the rewards for LittleBigChallenges, but SCEA will also be giving them out to US gamers for basically anything that catches their attention, like quality posting in the forums or comments of the blog. I am not sure what other regions will be doing with them this year.

If you follow D-N's link you will see the blog post describing what all they plan to do for the US.

What with over a million community levels, searching for specific levels and even creators has been getting more and more difficult... not so true any more:

Shiny New Search Features

Just a quick update let everyone know that LBP now has some new search features.

In addition to the Author search (put @ in front of the search word to search by Author) there are now some more new search methods.

Search for words in Level Title only
  • To search for words in Level Title only, put a $ in front of the search word . For example, to search for levels with ‘Frenzy’ in the Level Title type:

    $frenzy

Search for exact words
  • To search for exact words, use single quotes, like this:

    ‘frenzy’

This will search ONLY for the word ‘frenzy’ in Level Title and Level Description (so no fonzy, friendzy, fencey, frendy, frondy, fwendy, etc, etc).

Search for phrases only
  • To search by phrase, say, ‘The Mighty Tower of Ultimate Doom’, use double quotes, like this:

“The Mighty Tower of Ultimate Doom”

This will search only the Level Title & Level Description for exactly that phrase.

Combine Searches
  • If that’s not enough for you (whaa…!?) you can even combine searches! What do I mean? Well, say I wanted to search for ‘Marks Multi Mega Marvellous Mashing Machine’ by ‘MarkLovesMashing9988′, I’d type in:

    $Mashing @MarkLovesMashing9988

Which will search for all levels with ‘Mashing’ in the Level Title that also has ‘MarkLovesMashing9988′ as the author.

    Or I could type:

    ‘Mashing Machine’ @MarkLovesMashing

    Or.

    $Mashing @Mashing

I could go on, but I think you get the idea?

On top of all that, the default search is now less fuzzy. So, what you search for will show less results but be of a higher quality. Basically, it’ll find less but what it finds will be a more exact match to your search word.

Phew! I’m all excited again about searching for those hidden gems. Aha!, I can even search for ‘MmSC’ without getting lots of ‘Misc’ levels (was that a subtle hint that there’s going to be another Mm Picks Survival Challenge Edition soon? hmmm, maybe…)

Remember, if you find any gems out there, let me know!

Anyways, Enjoy!

Ohh, and more SackPlushies...

i just got the game with a free psn unlock code for the nariko character costume.
i am very willing to swap this code for something so pm me and make me an offer as there are either 3 or 4 downloads left.

Dumb question, but i want to get the Play Trophy. Do i need to play the story levels and bonus ones, or just the Story levels?

You have to ace the bonus levels as well... except of course the bonus levels that only end when you die... of which there are quite a few, so there aren't that many bonus levels that you have to ace. Also, you'll find with only a couple exceptions, acing those bonus levels is not only relatively easy, but most are also very short.

Oh man, i have to do them all again. Not in the mood for that, but i will play them for sure.

thnx for the quick response D-N:tup:

I do hope you're not trying to sell anything on GTPlanet without being a Premium Member and posting in the Trading Post?

Anyway, LBP has just prompted me to install v1.10 - anyone know what this comprises? Hopefully a fix for the bug where it restarts the console if you try to end the game at any point...

Sounds to me like he's looking to trade codes like what FK and D-N (and presumably others) did. Nothing more.

How big is it? The 10-15MB updates usually just give you the data needed to see the DLC items, so that you don't have to wait for someones special outfit to load up.

22Mb.

In other news, I've finished the main structure of my expanded Rainbow Islands level and most of the obstacles are in place. Just need to populate it with some points bubbles and decorate a little :D

I update when it tells me to...

Found it:
http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/lbp/board/message?board.id=pod&message.id=42264#M42264

Any significant game update will be accompanied by notes through as many news sources as possible before it goes live. The 1.10 update, as has been identified already contains content only so no notes are necessary. We'll announce release dates for this content just as soon as we've been given the all clear to do so.
Content, but they aren't saying what.

Well, I've completed my revised level and re-published it :D

I was going for "How Rainbow Islands would look if the developers had access to LBP", so it's LBP-level hard now.

There's a couple of glitches - some of the switches don't always work first time, and I can't work out how to stop my emitted score bubbles from vapourising themselves (I've tried infinite life and 60s, but they still fade after about 5 seconds). But otherwise it's absolutely fine.

In fact I've got enough thermometer left to try sticking the Boss in too :D

How many bubbles do you have coming out of each emitter? I can't remember what the deal was, but I think that each emitter can only have so many bubbles on screen at a time, so when you break that number the oldest ones begin vaporizing. In my Plinko level I had to do 10 emitters of 50 bubbles each to get 500 bubbles out at once.

I thought it interesting how many rainbow levels there out there when I searched for yours the first time. It apparently must have been a popular game back in the day. I’ll give this one a go to check out the improvements.

I have no clue when I might be done with mine as I haven’t touched LBP in a week. The ‘architecture’ took up a good 60% of the meter and I’m sure I will run out of space before I feel it will feel done. I will have to rethink something’s to save space sooner or later.

You may be surprised. My Volcano God level (round stones and all) took up almost half the meter before I added a single emitter or tool. It never broke 60% (maybe 75%).

There's three sets at three different locations:

3 x 25 - end of "level 1"
3 x 30 - end of "level 2"
2 x 35 - end of "level 3"

I'm getting about 15 out on screen at the same time before they vanish.

The old one was just the first level of the first level of Rainbow Islands. I've now tacked on two additional levels and ramped up both the difficulty and the decor. Hopefully if you watch a Youtube video of the game, you should see the same platforms in the same order and roughly the same style (which can be tricky to achieve!) :D

I'm a lot prouder of this version. It was difficult enough to induce bottom-lip wobbling in mini-Milford.

Is it copyable? One of us can take a look at it and see what it is doing (I haven't been on LBP since I beat the MGS levels). I'd do it tonight but I won't be home (Watchmen).

And they aren't making the breaking noise?

I can't remember if it's copyable or not - but the bubbles do make the ghostly "whoosh" noise of vanishing emittery things.

If its not copyable you can change that easily if you want someone else to look at it.

Whoosh is emitter related. If it were the twig snapping sound of objects breaking that would be a sign it is a bigger problem.

Anyway, LBP has just prompted me to install v1.10

Thanks for the heads-up. 22MB in 34 seconds = .75 MB/s download on a Thursday. 👍

I tried three replays, and still there isn't a way to get above the section where you first come across an emitter that drops a bomb from above. I'm guessing the emitter on the left should activate a rainbow in order to get to the next section above... but it doesn't appear to be working, thus leaving me stuck on that section.

If you can log in, maybe I can show you what I mean.

UPDATE:

To be more specific, the emitter that is under the "2" as well as the one on the far left side on the same level as the emitter that drops the bombs were not doing anything (although the two white lights turn on when I activate them).

However, I just retried again and kept jumping around the emitter on the far left and it finally popped up a rainbow allowing me to move up.

Made it to the end... great job Famine. I still think it needs a race section to encourage replay and to compare how much better you get playing the level based on the race timer.

I think there's some issue about how close to the Sackboy you can emit something solid like my rainbows. It's the other glitch I was aware of :D

I shall give it another look tomorrow - maybe shrink the 'bows a bit and cheat some dark matter in to prop them up.

I've now fixed the switches - I've made their trigger range as small as I can so that you can't trigger a switch while in the emitted object's radius. Can't sort the prize bubble emitters though. As soon as they get 4 deep or more than 15 on-screen, they "fwooooof".

Grr.

Double-grr... How can a "H4H!!!" level by a girl (who wants to let everyone know she's a girl) consisting of an entrance so you fall straight onto the exit get 30,000 plays and 500 hearts but a level that has taken time, care and thought (mine) is on 4/37 after a week?

There are countless high quality levels with tens of thousands, even quite a few with a hundred thousand plays and thousands of hearts.... so I wouldn't let it get to you. If popularity is your goal, you don't have to rely on H4H. It's rare to find a really good level that hasn't been played a lot.... other than new ones, or copies of the original.

Besides, it has no impact on your game or the quality of your level. Just ignore them... you might feel less grouchy 👍

Speaking of your level... I can't help but notice you've not yet responded to my previous two suggestions about adding a race timer, perhaps a timer for each section (1-3), does that mean this is something you have no interest in adding?

Well, at the moment there's something missing from my level - which is, essentially Level 4 and the Boss of Insect Island (for those of you who remember the game). And I've got well over half the thermometer to play with...

So I'm contemplating doing this, then adding timer to the boss :D But I'm also toying with the idea of timed level sections too. It has been a bit of a labour doing this level - especially with previous frustrations regarding LBP level creation - so I'm having a little time off and letting it roll for now.

That and fixing the emitted point bubbles, which is the next priority.

Edit: Yay! Share trophy :D

The good, the bad, and the funny... in reverse order:

The Funny:

The Bad:

100_2523.jpg

This was my son's LBP game save, and unfortunately I had not made a backup copy. :ouch:

The Good:

My son learned the hard way not to quit a game or turn off the PS3 while it is recording or accessing data on the hard drive (as indicated by the flashing yellow light). While he was very disappointed to have lost all his LBP characters that he had created and saved, he is having fun going back and playing the story levels again to earn back the necessary stickers and costume items again.

On thing though... I'm very surprised there is no way of skipping past the introduction level. :odd:

They also don't advertise a way to skip past the forced explanations and dialogue as you progress through the first three stories... but my son discovered a clever way of skipping past it by simply pressing the start button and choosing any of the options. Doing so immediately skipped over the narrative and allowed him to go on playing without having to wait for the narration to stop. 👍

Whenever I quit LBP, it instantly accesses the HDD, spacks out and reboots the PS3. Every time, regardless of what Sackboy/girl and the HDD are actually doing.
