Another gripe that came up due to all of this is that apparently he had gotten so many community stickers and objects that he got a pop-up warning that his profile was too large and that he could not add any things to it. Looking at his sticker menu and (after doing the necessary create tutorial sections) his Goodies Bag, he had what appeared to be a few hundred objects and stickers from playing so many community levels.

I wanted to delete them all, but I was surprised to see there was no "Delete All" option, and instead had to delete them one at a time. :ouch:

Seems I was not alone...

CORNISH YARG (aka 1.12 game update)

We don’t yet have a fixed release date for this update, but it has now finished primary development so won’t be too much longer. Additional fixes, particularly for online connection reliability and save game/profile size problems are already well into development and we’ll bring you more news on that just as soon as possible.

This update addresses several outstanding issues with the game:
  • There is a new music player which lets player’s choose their own music from the XMB to play during create mode and in their Pod

  • Improved decoration mode makes it easier to customize your Sackboy
New options to help prevent profiles becoming full of unwanted community objects:
  • Option to delete all (unhearted) community objects and photos

  • Option to select whether to automatically collect community prizes and photos

  • A number of improvements have been made to make profiles more robust and to recover from certain errors

  • We now support Japanese and Korean IME for text chat.

  • Emitter prediction has been improved (this should help fast-moving projectiles e.g. in MGS levels)

  • The player proximity switch now has a ‘require all’ option in it

  • An option has been added to cycle between various level information when viewing community levels on the earth

  • Various LittleBigStore improvements

BTW: I don't know how many were aware of this, but speaking of various LittleBigStore improvements... I noticed a couple weeks back that a quick way of using a DLC costume pack is to go to the LittleBigStore from your pod and simply click on the costume you downloaded, and voila... it will automatically reset your sackboy, and put on all the costume items that make up that character. 👍

There were just a couple or so exceptions... can't recall exactly which of them they were, but it is still a very handy option, especially if you have a lot of saved costumes, and don't want to clutter it up even more than you have to. 👍

Really looking forward to this as I have been creating a lot as of late! Can't wait for the global lighting :0 Should make my new level a lot more interesting.

So I put up a new and "refined" version of The Great Hunt (still missing the boss battle...it's seriously killing me).

Here's some pictures :)

Create a completely separate level with your boss battle in it and then put the key at the end of your main level. That way your boss setup does not risk affecting the rest of the level and you can possibly get double hearts for one level.

Still no word on when the 1.12 update is going to happen, but lots of other stuff going on in the LBP universe:

Besides a couple extensive new Sack It To Me editions:
There is also a new LBP challenge:

LittleBigChallenge: The Golf Course Challenge

3402206319_4c3c7eed3a_o.jpg

To celebrate the release of SackBoy in Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds, we’re putting together the first official LittleBigPlanet golf course where each hole is designed and created by the LBP community.

The best 9 holes and a driving range from North America and the most popular 9 holes and club house from Europe will form the official LittleBigPlanet golf course. So not only can you win individual glory at having your hole selected, but your creation will forever be part of this course!

Every winning entry will be awarded a LittleBigPlanet prize Crown, so start drafting up your designs and switch to create mode! The Challenge has officially begun!

How to take part:
To enter, simply create and publish your hole or driving range in LittleBigPlanet before midnight on April 14, 2009 (Pacific Time). What makes a good hole? That’s entirely up to you - think Hot Shots Golf, think LittleBigPlanet, mash the two together and see what you come up with.

So that we can easily identify entries, and if you live in the US or Canada, you need to name your level in a specific way:
  • “LBPGolfNA” for US entries and “LBPGolfCA” for Canadian entries
You can then follow this name by either “Driving Range” or “Par 3, 4, 5″ etc, depending on how long or difficult your level is. For example:
  • “LBPGolfCA- Par 4” is a moderately difficult, average length hole from a Canadian Creator.
  • “LBPGolfNA- Driving Range” is a driving range from a US Creator.
(Note - Driving Range levels are limited to the US for this Challenge.)

We’ll then have a two-week voting period from Tuesday April 14 to Monday April 27 where you can play, vote and “heart” your favorite golf levels. Media Molecule will select the 9 winning holes and driving range for North America from eligible levels that get the best ratings during this time.

Good luck and we’ll see you on the links!

BTW: For those that might not recognize the style of the LBP commercial discussed in the before mentioned Sack It To Me edition, it is a parody of the infamous viral videos that Matt Harding made while traveling the world:

Oh, and the anatomy drawings of the Sackboy are both creepy and cool. ;)

After some youtubing i found this funny vid

:dopey:

The creator of that level, TheJollyRajah has made some other clever levels as well... but if you want a really tough challenge, try and get to the hidden area in his RICKROLL'D level... it's brutal!

 (how I felt about the clever way the hidden area was placed)

:mischievous: (how sure I was about being able to get to it)

:irked: (having failed a few times to get very far)

:banghead: (having failed many times to get very far)

🤬 (having nearly made it only to fail at the end)

:ouch: (returning to my pod in disgust)

:D

I just bought this game. I love it. But I have a question do I have finish the game before I can access the user created levels?

Finish the first three levels and then it opens up everything else.

Edit: Also, here's a video preview of my level "The Great Hunt". Please, give it a shot, and if you like it, give it a heart :)

Hey... I recognize that name on the leaderboard... ;)

BTW: That video is a run-through and not just a preview... so it should be considered a spoiler alert for those that like to discover things in a level on their own. 👍

That's preposterous. Original sackboy has no teeth.

And there are no guts that explode when you pop your sackboy... thankfully or else my kids would not be enjoying it. :)

However, it's a great concept and well drawn to boot. 👍

If you check out Jason Freeny's website, you'll find a lot of similar drawings for other 'characters'/objects as well, like a balloon animal and a gummy bear. :D

He is quite talented. 👍

Sorry for the spoilers guys! You'll all be happy to know I'm taking each part of my level and making it an individual level. So each section will become a fleshed out level. Should be fun!

Think of this as the "cliff notes" version :)

I like the where in the world is sackboy video. I wonder if we can dance like that in the game soon!

I got a quick question. How do you access my downloaded costumes? I got the free ones and they show up on my harddrive but I can't access them in either the little big planet store nor in game. The Great Hunt looks like a great level. Good Work

Did you install them?

kjb
yes i did . Maybe i'll delete them then download and install them again.

Delete them? If they are installed, then you can't delete them without deleting your entire LBP game data file.

If you can't find the costume items in the pop-it menu you can access them by selecting the LittleBigStore from your pod. From there search the planet for the specific costume pack you downloaded, and then click on it. This should automatically put the costume items on your sackboy... although there are a few exceptions.

However, if you truly downloaded and installed a costume pack, it should place all those costume items from that pack into the appropriate costume category.

I was able to delete without destroying my game data file. I searched the LittleBigStore but I couldn't find them.

There must be something being lost in translation...

First you said the downloaded costumes show up on your harddrive but you can't access them in either the little big planet store nor in game.

Which is why Omins asked you if you installed them... because if they are installed (click on the bubble icon), then you would not be able to see the DLC file (in this case the costume packs) on your hard drive as it simply updates your game file, rather than create a new file just for that DLC.

Then you say you did install them but apparently you still couldn't find them in the game. So then you said you were going to delete them then download and install them again.

To which I asked delete what? Because if they are installed, there is no file to delete without deleting your game data file. Now you can delete them from in the game... but then that makes no sense as that means you CAN see them in the game.

To which you then said you did delete them without destroying your game data file.... which I am having a really hard time understanding what you actually deleted, seeing as you said you had downloaded and installed them.

Finally, when you say you can't find them in the LittleBigStore... every DLC pack is shown in the LittleBigStore whether you bought it or not... so if you can't even find them there... then I have to believe there is a lot more to this story then what you have shared so far.

I really am trying to help, but so far, from what details you have offered it is very difficult to understand what exactly you have done and what you can and can't see. :indiff:

okay let me clear this up. I downloaded the costume packs from the Playstation Store. After they were downloaded they automatically installed themselves. So when I go into the game and go to the LittleBigstore it tells that there is nothing available. I think I have figured out what may be the problem. I have PAL version of LBP so can I only use downloaded content from the EU Playstation store? I downloaded the costume packs form the US store. I am sorry if I caused confusion it was not my intention.

Ah... now that makes sense. 👍

And, yes, if you have a PAL version of LBP, and most games, then you also have to get the PAL versions of the DLC. This is pretty much the case with all regions and DLC. So while the PS3 is region free, and allows you to play games from different regions, if you want to add DLC you will have to get the DLC from the region where that game is from. There may be some exceptions, but I have yet to hear about any.

I'm not sure if the same thing applies to game updates... but maybe you can at least confirm this as far as LBP goes. Seeing as it appears you are here in the States, but have a PAL version of the game... were you still able to update LBP to version 1.12 while logged in under your NA account, or did you have to log in under a EU account, or did it not update it at all?

kjb

No worries... but one thing I'm still not sure I understand is how you managed to delete the individual DLC items once they were installed to the single game data file?

That's good to know. I'm somewhat surprised seeing as how DLC needs to be region matched with the game, but apparently the updates don't. :odd:

Maybe they keep copies of the PAL updates on the NA servers just for such cases, and when you log in, it first checks to see which regional version of LBP you actually have. That would certainly make a lot of sense, and avoid a lot of problems for those who have games from other regions. 👍

I went to the game utility folder where there all of the downloaded addons reside and deleted it from there.
