What's wrong with paddle shifters? I use them all the time in the VW. I find them to be great fun. Sure, they're no manual gearbox, but it beats rowing the shifter back and forth, both for accessibility and for not looking like a poseur.

I guess I thought a car like the DB9 would have a quicker shift.

EDIT: Took this picture last night of the DB9 I drove alongside his Cayman (camera phone so poor quality)

My 1990 300E 2.6 can and has done and indicated 135 mph. But this was a long long long time ago.

I've since purchased a 94 E320 which accelerates savagely beyond 4000rpm. I often find myself skirting 100mph when all I was trying to do was pass someone. Its seen 125 with four full size rugby player types in it, before I told the driver to "slow down, tires aren't rated for that kinda speed."

Currently 155-160km/hr in my Ute, that was only in 3rd gear though!:P

Heh, pushed the ole Interceptor to about 130mph ish from what the speedo said. Car still felt like it had a heck of a lot more left in her. She could probably hit 140mph If I find a long enough road!

Funny fact, the front pushbar starts to wiggle after about 120mph!

My police officer friend in Florida was working a crash on the interstate when a state trooper pulls up in his new undercover pursuit SRT8 Charger. They got to talking and he said the light bar starts to rattle at 170mph! After they chatted for a while about the car, he proceeded to light the tires up across all 4 lanes of the interstate and haul ass down the road. :D

Haha, sounds like a super troopers moment. Alright meow.

Pushed it just a bit further, 120mph in a XJR. But then the BRAKE light went on and the info center said low brake fluid so that was enough of that...

I'd like to add that that thing is a beast.

Undercover car with a lightbar.........not very undercover is it.

my astra gets a bit light over 70ish, and the firebird while doing great getting up to 70, doesnt make quick progress past that  think it did eventually get to 90 but it took a loong time
i prefer to cruise along really, gives me more time to avoid the kids trying to race/cut up/run me off the road

Really? And here I thought that my dads Plymouth Voyager was the slowest thing around(well i know theres worse but) That could get up to 86mph! With a massive 115hp. However fully loaded and going up a hill was kind of bad, as I had my foot mashed to the floor doing 70 and then losing speed on the way up:nervous:

its the v6, and this thing was rated at only 135hp when new
at 70ish with foot to the floor, it shifts into last in overdrive and down to 1500rpm and is happy staying there

I'm just telling you what I was told. I'm assuming my friend miss spoke, because as far as I know, the SRT8 Chargers are only used in high speed pursuits and not as undercover cars. That duty is still left up to unmarked Crown Victorias and Marauders.

Light bar isn't necessarily on top in the states.

Also true. There's usually lights behind the grill now.

I saw an unmarked Charger doing escort duty on a prisoner transport. The marked State Police Crown Vic had the prisoner in the back and an unmarked dark blue Charger was following about 5 car lengths behind him. A guy came flying up on us from behind doing about 15-20 over and the Charger flipped on his lights as a warning. The guy dropped in behind me and stayed there.

142 mph in a BMW 5 series at 2:00 am (#%&) heading south towards (#@!). Some guy in a rented 4 door Chevy Cavalier kept chasing me down. I would leave him in the straights but he would catch up at the curves 'cuz I would slow down to 90 mph he would pass me up and start sliding around I thought he was going to lose it a couple of times but he recovered the road was a bit damp too. Man! that guy was crazy. Oh! and then I fell off my bed and woke up when I crashed..LOL

And yet YOU were doing 142?!?!?!?!?!:scared::ouch:

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

As I said, the important thing with this thread, to prevent it from having to be locked for discussion of illegal activities, is to say WHAT your fastest is, not WHERE you did it.

Please, folks, can we remember the rule about not discussing illegal activities on GTPlanet?

All we need to know in this thread is how fast you've gone in your car, not where you did it. Unless you did it on an Autobahn/derestricted road/private road/track/airfield, it's not going to be legal. So don't bring the location into it.

We don't need to know where you went fast, just how fast you went.

Oh, I didn't mean no one used Chargers as undercover, just the PD my friend works for. Sorry for the confusion. Funny story though. :D

Also, I believe the thread title says Fastest You've Ever Gone in YOUR Car?.

Mazda 3. 114 is all it will do. My CTS-V 120mph and chickened out when it dawned on me that i was driving a 4 door 3880lbs car with mushy brakes and i could lose my CDL and maybe my Job if I got caught. 150 on my Kawi ZX6-R 130 on my Kawi Z1000.

Nothing like a little motorway cruise in the van...
