Kazunori says he can't get the Lexus IS-F Touringcar out of his mind, how it felt being in charge of the car, becoming one with the car. Feeling every bump through the steering.
He would really like to do another game (genre), no plans but lots of ideas. Gran Turismo is his life, but he assumes he has missed something during all these years been dedicated to GT.

Is he saying here that he realise know that the most important thing in a car game is feel,and its just not good enough in upcoming GT5?Just like in this Academy demo.Feel through the wheel.

No, actually he doesn't. As this whole article feels like it's largely based on press material handed out, I just gave a quick summary. No need to wonder if you'd be missing something - you don't

The first two questions are "What was the hottest sportscar you have driven?" and "What are the reasons (roots) for your passion?"
 
Yesterday I actually went to Gamestop to get some games for my little brother and they had GT5 listed in the exact same date. I doubt it though, otherwise advertising would have started I think.

Funny, My brother was at gamestop shopping for my other brother today. He saw a GT5 poster but there was no list date, at least according to him. Is your gamestop in the US?

I think its actually from a GTP member for the boxart competition we had a while back. And just a little tip: The new PS3 boxes all have the new font at the top of the cover:

On the 8C comment-> Its a subjective thing, plus I didn't like that pic of the 8C. It lacked the emotion and feel of the car IMO. :)

First of all I d like to say that this message is intended primary for Kaz s developing team. I don t mean to provoke any angry reaction of a GT fan I just want to have the game the way I considere it to be the best (or I may say real)and not persuade anybody on the forum that I m right and he (or she:) is wrong. Also I d like to note that I m only going to discusse the driving physics (which matters most to me) not other aspects.
In general I think the GT TT demo physics are very nice but certain areas should be ironed out to make it perfect:

- The way the car behaves beyond the limit of the tire grip ( The truth is when sliding (driving "beyond" the limit of the tires) you shouldnt be loosing the control of the car but In the demo I am not feeling the car or at least too litle and when trying to control or countersteer slides the car often reacts unpredictable. This is best seen when trying to drift. It s probably me giving wrong inputs to the car but it is only bcause I m not sure what is the car doing at that instant and what to do to get it back under my control. This does not happen to me when drifting in real life. The lost of grip and control should be more continuous. I do not think it has anything to do with me not sensing the speed of the car or the visual and oral hints it is giving me. I m perfectly accostomed to the game and I can sence the car very nicely when not sliding. Maybe it s not primary the physics of the car but rather the forcefeedback or maybe combination of both I m not sure yet but LFS physics give me mutch closer feeling to the real thing and control of the virtual car when sliding or drifting than GT demo.
-Grass physics (1.too slipery, you can notice it when doing small circles on the grass very gentle on the gass, not accelerating, the back of the car slides like on ice 2.the car sways on the grass too much. more like a boat on the sea, I know grass is not absolutly flat but the movemet should me subtle and more sort of jerky or shuddery 3. grass and gravel magically limits reving though it should actually be the other way cause they present less ressistance to the engine than tarmac)
- Transition from the grass back to tarmack (When going from grass back to the road the car spins every time there is slightly higher angle even though you are not accelerating or braking) have not experienced in real life
- The brakes do not lock (probably only the demo settings - impossible to turn off the ABS completly)
- Wheels do not have tendency to lock when harsh downshifting
- Inability to impose brake in or lift off oversteer proparly .This I m not sure about it may be the way this car behaves in reality. I d have to see how other cars behave in this physics.
- The car reaction to hand brake seems exegerated too - When using handbrake and only slightly turning the wheel the back wheels lose to much grip like if they were on ice - this might be the same "tire loosing too much grip out of sudden" problem that I mentioned with drifting
One more thing I said I wouldn t discuse anything else beyond the physics but in case this gets to Kaz team... Engine sounds are great but rolling sound of the weels on tarmac when going slow is exegerated the same counts for the "grass" sound.
Sorry too all GT fans for this critisism I t s only because I like GT so much and I think it has potential to be a realy great simulation.

Agree with the grass thing. Looks like wet grass on slicks. On the stock with N3 is even more strange...

As for the rest, I completely disagree. Taking in consideration this a 370z, it seams to be modeled perfectly. There is no shiftlock or lift off oversteer because it's not supposed to. But you can provoke some, as well as turn in brake etc.

Brakes are clearly like "ABS 1" and surely will be a setting in GT5.

Drifting is not supposed to happen especially in the tuned (wrong tune?) but can be done.

Don't get me wrong (nothing personal) but not being able to does not mean it's not possible 👍

Isn't whinging about someone whinging being a whinger? He has some valid points, overall they arn't things that have concerned me too much, but there's a couple of valid points in there at least. It'd be nice to not see so many people lynch anyone and everyone who says anything negatve towards the game. Sometimes they arn't saying the game is rubbish, they're just suggesting how it could be better. I have no issue with that, only mindless and baseless rants aimed at provoking an argument rather than genuine discussion.

Be nice guys, it's only a game.

If I was "not nice" I could say it that this quadruple post is plain trash, that only shows he can't drive properly (in GT), that he should not spread it over 4 different threads, be more careful with his typing and spelling, and especially being a new comer, that this behavior looks like he is just trying to provoke an argument or pick a fight (although stating otherwise) etc, etc... but I didn't. I'm being nice :) I even replied saying he has some valid points... 👍


(PS: I know you didn't quote me, but I couldn't resist... :D )
 
You should also consider the fact that our newcomer is from a foreign land. Our guests from beyond deserve a little slack.

I will have to say to the complainers that even if you have valid points, and many do, almost all of it is dealing with the ragged edge of racing, which is the hardest to nail perfectly. Rather than ask that Kaz and the lads fix what you think is broken, and add another six months to a year of development time, let's have the game sooner and deal with the perfection of driving in GT6. I would like to be playing GT5 before Christmas 2010. Agree? ;)
 
Drifting is easily controllable, for those who think it's impractical and it gets out of hand too easily, spend a lot of time with car control and getting a feel for the car to be able to catch it easier and control it before it gets out of hand. On bumper cam I can easily feel the back end out and correct it accordingly, or I'll just ride it out.

The only thing I am bothered with is how fast it goes from lock to lock. If some how they could get the steering movements into the drift, and then how the car basically auto locks when changing direction and such, then it would make it a lot easier for drifting and normal racing
 
I think the argument that the physics in the demo are a bit off are completely valid. Its easy to say oh everything is great now. The truth is that it is not. Some aspects of the physics are better, but as a result some got worse. What has me worried is that if this is what a 370z handles like what in the world is a Lotus Exige or Pagani Zonda going to be like? I think the physics need a little more leeway at the limit (ie less snap oversteer). It seems we have traded the way oversteer is handled for better low speed physics and better connection with the road (on average). IMO, going back and forth, I am finding GT5p's physics more natural. I guess the best option would be to find some middle ground between the two.
 
I don't think the snap oversteer is that bad? I'm lapping the cars in the demo fine without traction control, something I struggled to do in GT5:P with rwd cars of any notable power. Particularly on N tyres. It does feel much more balanced on the limit, I'm generally finding plenty of time to correct mistakes before they turn into disasters. On the flip side, playing this demo has got me excited about what the Exige and Zonda will handle like, not worried.

Remeber that in the full game you will be able to adjust the driving aids and also chose which physics mode you want. There's no shame in picking the settings that you enjoy the most, it is a game that most people will be playing for personal enjoyment after all.
