Wallbanger's 1st annual million credit FF Summer Shootout!(6/19/11 final 7/17/11)

By the way after reading a few of the posts from people this morning I had an idea. Would anyone be interested in sponsoring a drivers choice award? I noticed that at least a couple of the drivers have made comments regarding the fact that the most enjoyable cars for them to drive so far have not been the fastest in their tests. Does anyone think this is something we could add, or do you all feel this would be to subjective and likely to cause hard feelings?

No prolem for me, i think there is a lot of GT players who want to learn first how to drive properly a FF car for after thinking in speed and faster. If both can be a car, good . But in this case, i don't think the integra DC5 is the most easy and "sane" car to drive, at least with this power.
My vote go to the pontiac sunfire. If i can call this a vote. Let say the one i prefer to drive.

I can sponsor the 'Car of Choice Award!'

Would a ticket be ok, or a car under the cap, paints, parts or gear? I can do anything I have. But I don't have everything.

Sponsors choice really what they want to do.

I'm going to be grinding like crazy and have all my sends tied up for a while when this is over paying everyone off or I would do more.

Now if someone would actually run my Bobs I wouldn't have to grind so much...:sly:

Sure. There's no reason for people to get upset about it, it's just opinions.
It could have an impact on future events also, encouraging more different models to be used.
While the Integra Type R and Civic Type R are two of my favorite FF's, it seems to be over half the field, I'm a bit surprised there's no Peugeot's yet.

I like the 207 GTi , but I´m sure you don´t get near 500 PP.

raVer

Actually it and several other Peugeot's can get to the 500PP level. A 206 RC '03 is part of my final round of testing currently. Very fast but a real handful because of its weight distribution.

The 207 GTI go till 507 pp, 370 hp , 1048 kg ,very good handling , sensation to do a good lap ,everything nice but the time is 3 seconds over the DC5 ,like a lot of car in this game, some seems boosted others limited ????

I just happen to have a 206 RC '03 @500pp that I ran around GVS for fun the other day. I wont give away my time since your considering one but it was right up there with the other entrants.

:sly:All the cars in my "Dirty Dozen" should be very competitive at 500PP. Problem is that even with a good tune some are going to require a lot more driver skill to get that bleeding edge performance out of than others. Last two days of testing I've been droping cars off my short list not because of a lack of potential performance but more because of their level of difficulty for the driver to elicit from them consistently. In fact I just droped one of my initial favorites.

Yep , it can reach 510+ PP (with a broken in engine)
Tested this car.Pulled a 2:05.5xx with the stock suspension at 500 PP (rest was upgraded and left at default except top speed and power limiter)
Car had 349 bhp at 1048 kg

I'm sure you will find the one your looking for and possibly soon. How much time is left before deadline anyways:lol:

Down to my final 4, been making small tweaks to them as I go so once I make my final pick it won't need a lot of polishing.
The tuner deadline is the 2nd of July, however because of the international date line that means a good percentage of you are actually a day ahead of me! So everyone including those on the same date as myself:lol: should try to have their tunes in by the 1st, with the 2nd being a sort of last second grace period. At any rate no tunes will be accepted after 12:01am my time(Pacific Standard Time with a one hour adjustment forwards for daylight savings time.) on the 3rd and I'll announce entry is closed before going to work that morning.(look for it at around 1am my time)

Given some tunes saying "adjust brakes to your liking" I have to ask, is that a standard for all cars?

I know the 3 I've driven so far could probably have run faster with varied BB, but to me the BB is a critical part of any tune, along with ABS level.
Of course, if the tuner runs ABS 0, then with me driving that might destroy their lap times, so I can understand bringing ABS up to one in those cases.

I'll need a judges ruling on this before I continue, as both submitted lap times will probably change, at least a small amount with my own preference of BB and/or ABS.

Not for me. My brake balance is : Brake Balance 4/8, with ABS 1. It's just to use with a very light pressure most of the corners,to orient the front of the car. The only 2 big braking of the circuit are dificult and unstable due to this balance, but they are minority on GVS,that's why i choose this option.
Thanks.

EDIT: in fact only 1 of the 2 is problematic due to the setting of brakes.

My $0.02. I will be testing exactly as written up by the tuners, so if there is a specific setting given for BB but then an ambiguous 'change to your liking' I will use the specific setting. If no setting is given, the game default will be used (-raVer-)

If, as per AssassinTuner's settings, there are several specific choices, I will use the one most suited to my setup. In this case the ABS@1 choice. Think of it as having an aftermarket comfort/highway/sport switch on the dash? 💡

You shouldn't get to allow multiple variations of your tune, so that you can benefit every driving style that's entered in the competition. If we're gunna do that, then where do you draw the line? Can I offer multiple spring rates? Ride heights? LSD Settings? Ballast placements?

Very good point. I'll wait for a call from the umpire then.

Heck no!!! The posted tunes should be the spec in which they are run. We aren't the tuners, remember?
Agreed!

And I must ask tuners that have not listed a single set of brake balance numbers to do so.
My suggestion for tuners on this is to set brake balance as if the driver is using abs1 and no other aids other than possibly the driving line. This seems to be a fairly common setting of drivers aids from what I've seen. Of course tuners are free to adjust the brake balance however they see fit so this is just a suggestion. For those of you currently reading this please help insure that the word gets spread to all the tuners that they are to list a SINGLE set of numbers for the brakes. Thanks.

And lastly before I shut down for a couple hours sleep before work...I've chosen my weapon of choice! I'm probably crazy here since I've laid down better lap times with some other cars but I like this ones potential. I'm naming it the Soju Express as it comes from the land of the morning calm. My winner is the Hyundai Tuscani '01!:gtpflag:
I should have my tune posted sometime late tomorrow afternoon my time.
Must say it was a tough call especially since I've not had a chance to fully tune my "Dirty Dozen" so this is a bit of guesswork on my part. You can look forward to me posting full tunes in my garage, on all my "Dirty Dozen", sometime after the shootout is over with.
Take care everyone.

And as Harvey Wallbanger always says...
Drive hard and have fun!:cheers::gtpflag:

I run 7/3 no abs, but nobody really drives like this, so to have people run no abs on one car when they are not familiar with no abs is crazy. There just are not enough assist free drivers.

Its simple, use abs-1 6/4 as I posted. I will retract 3/7 in fairness (I guess) majority use this reversed set up to abuse the abs system. Its like if one does it all have to to be competative.
So I accept the penalty.
