Wallbanger's 1st annual million credit FF Summer Shootout!(6/19/11 final 7/17/11)

ugh…bad news, I've got a headache, and that means I can't really drive properly, right now, I'm testing Jackthalad's car, and I can't tell the difference between my own driving error and the car's faults…this will take some time to type up……

Easiest way I've found to do this is to give the car to bob before going to bed, and have him do a GVS enduro. Win or lose (mostly lose) you'll still get 300km on the clock. Then it's just a few trips around the ring to top up.

That's how I do it, hand the keys to Bob while I do other stuff.

I honestly can't see myself doing that. Hard to explain to the GF why I'm playing a game while not playing a game... Lol. She already thinks I'm a retard for taking this whole thing as serious as I am... I feel a break up coming .

250 miles on a car to break it in or you will gain hp as you drive.

All cars must be fully broken in for testing.

Hope that clears it up.

I would strongly urge all drivers using cars from the NCD to fully break the car in before testing and do an oil change as this is the most likely cause of differences between what a tuner lists and what your seeing. Also most if not all cars from the UCD should have at least an engine rebuild done on them to bring them close to original specs. Some tuners specify these things in their tunes others don't. I know this requires extra time with some cars however it limits the amount of deviation from a tuners specifications.

Agreed. Some of us are going to struggle to find the time to break in motors and test/review/generally thrash though. Will limiting power be acceptable to all, if clearly stated by the poster?? I may have to adjust my strategy, as I've purchased a new car for each build :ouch:

In terms of breaking in a motor, am I to assume that 250 miles is the generally accept distance an engine requires??

Ta,

Feel better, buddy. International flying and jetlag is a mofo, isn't it? Welcome to my world. Try to sleep.

Yea, I actually fell asleep just now and buried the Integra into a wall…looked at the replay and found I was there for a good 5 minutes……I'm off to bed, will try to catch up tomorrow………

RKM Motorsport’s Lolvo C30-500

LolvoC30-500.jpg

LolvoC30-500_Big.jpg

Based on: Volvo C30 R-Design ‘09
Obtained: Brand new model at Volvo

VTiRoj's Volvo seemed interesting, and I was able to replicate it very closely, so I decided to do this one next.

First impression:
I kind of chuckled at the thought of this car. I know the guys on TopGear (the UK version, I may live in the US, but Richard, James, and Jeremy have my loyalty) loved the special version they had on the show, but it was not a production car, simply an automotive engineering team's wet dream. This is as close as anyone can get in game... And it's not even close. I like to think of it as comparing a Leopard, to a Rhino. However, I, myself drive a Saab 9-5. This means I have a bit of a soft-spot for Swedish cars, even if some of them are... fat pigs on wheels.

I'm hoping this car will surprise me, but I'm not expecting the same thrill I got out of the Integra I drove earlier. Maybe this is a bias, maybe not, but Saab seemed to always have more spike.

Again, Grand Valley Speedway, sunny, and in practice mode "Free Run."
I will be using the following "Driving Options:"
  • Tr: Auto
  • FT: Sport Soft
  • RT: Sport Soft
  • DL: On for first 5 laps, Off for 6-10
  • TC: Off
  • SR: Off
  • AS: Off
  • SM: Off
  • AB: 1
  • GR: Low
  • MD: None
  • SS: 1 (With a DualShock3)

I had to "tinker" with the ballasts, and engine limiter. the ballasts are at 118kg in mine, and the limiter is at 100%. This gave me 498pp in a brand new, 0 mile Swede, with a purple dress. If anyone cares, which they don't, the shoes are white (Prodrive GC-010G in white).

The good:
  • The car is stable, makes you feel like you're just out for a Sunday drive in Tennessee... Outside Nashville, with all the cops on vacation.

The bad:
  • Cornering while braking, or accelerating seems as consistent as an episode of Family Guy.
  • Braking can be overly-sensitive, even in the straights.
  • Any hint of the rumblies, and you could go for a flight.
  • It may be slightly faster than raVer's Integra, in my hands, but it was nowhere near as fun to drive.

The cool:
  • The white wheels I put on it look great!
  • Takes great "accident photos."
  • The dark purple color
  • Let's be honest... there's no "Cool-factor" with a car like this, no matter how you tune it.

Overall:
This is a pretty decent tune for any race that wants FF, and 500-550 pp, but for any practical situation... It's useless. Since this IS a competition for FF @ 500 pp, I'll have to concede that this car performed better than the Integra, even if it still feels like driving a Hippo out of a swamp at times. Or maybe it's just that I have a better idea of how to run this track with this kind of car now, I'll let you decide.

Results on Grand Valley Speedway
First run (498pp):
  • Lap 1: 2:11.001 (Start Lap, first run with this car, ever.)
  • Lap 2: 2:09.251
  • Lap 3: 2:14.287 (Took last turn little too wide, spun out)
  • Lap 4: 2:11.027 (Not too bad considering I was going slower at the start than lap 1.)
  • Lap 5: 2:07.159 (Faster than the Integra by raVer! For me anyway.)

Second run (499pp):
No driving line.
  • Lap 6: 2:09.857 (Start lap)
  • Lap 7: 2:08.882
  • Lap 8: 2:08.386
  • Lap 9: 2:07.209 (Bumped a wall, and got red!! Lap invalid)
  • Final : 2:16.165 (Wipe-out on first U)

Best lap: 2:07.159 (DL on)
Next best: 2:08.386 (DL off)
Worst lap: 2:16.165 (Wipe-out)

Seems there was a snafu with my PP. In case you don't know, I'm on 1.06 and pp is affected so 518pp to me is 500pp to post 1.10. I was running much below (arround 20hp) with the small turbo.

I'm at 496pp. On the limited small turbo.

Go medium turbo, no limiting, ill live with being a few pp under 500pp.

I thought I was under powered compared to other cars.

Detailed parts list for the Civic Type R 01' (EP3)

Cheers mate. Could you add this to your original post when you get a chance. This thread is becoming a little convoluted without Onboy's links.

That better not be my teggy!! lol just kidding

Acan: your CiviC Type R '08 tune is giving me trouble...

I have the limiter set for 81.4%, but it's only got a max power of 314, with 489pp.
I am using all the same settings, is your car broken in/oil changed?
How many miles are on it?

Sorry for late response,

Yeah its broken in and oil changed. it was 390 km (249 miles), when i posted the tune.

Now that the tune is finalized I went over to the Nurb for a change of scenery. Layed down a 7:34 clean minus a sligh wall rub and many places to refine my line. All I did was adjust the FD for the long straight.

What a thrilling experience, loved it. Just soaking in the fine replay of a corner carving FF 4DooR right now.

Good, I look forward to driving it tomorrow (yes, I'm back for a bit from my slumber). And do you like what I've done with your name in the second post? :D

XDesperado, you wrote the deadline is 2. July.......could you be a bit more precise, please?

Yeah, I don't mind at all. You also spelled it right. As in "Noob-steer" a play on words. (Under-steer/over-steer) nobody else got it... He's still around, posting through me. I do wish he would let me see the Tune on that RX-7 of his. I'm like a Junkie fiending for that Rotor. :sly:

I've gone and built up my CTR maxing it out, its unreal how competative this car is. Sure to suprise a few online when they get walked by a FF 4DooR. I love it...

You wouldn't believe how bad ass it is at the Nurburgring long Track. Crazy, I never thought a FF could be this quick in GT5.

A rough lap 7:04, sub seven on a sharp lap...

He said somewhere around pg 36 it would be midnight at the end of July 2nd, his time. - PST

Update: I won't be posting anymore times until the deadline has passed, I've started to see some tell-tale characteristics, and don't want to influence tuners that haven't submitted with information the submitted tunes don't have, so in the interest of fairness, I'll wait till Sunday.

Its getting close to the deadline. The checkered flag is about to officially drop.

I bet everybody is ready to get started, & to see the full pack.

For now its gotten quiet as though people have fallen asleep at the wheel. I'm about to be the next one if I don't crash soon.

I have been doing oil changes, the chassis rebuild and engine rebuilds as applicable. But I will not have time to run cars for an extra 100-150 laps. Just no way. sorry guys.

Annother solution would be to share one from annother member through PSN if your on PSN.

Good luck to all Tuners, I hope all the testers have fun, and find a car in the Bunch with a Tune just right for them, don't mind us Tuners breaking each others balls from time to time.

In the words of the WallBanger

"Drive hard and have fun."

Alright, sorry for my absence but was trying to get my weapon of choice ready. I know what I said my choice was last night, well guess what? Change of plans. Sorry but there was to many handling issues with the Tuscani for me to deal with on such short notice. So I switched to my backup option and here it is. It could undoubtedly use a few more tweaks but I've made you wait long enough.
Ladies and Gentlemen may I present "Kermit" my tune of the Citroén C4 Coupe 2.0VTS '05
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=5527218#post5527218

Hope all you drivers enjoy this French rocket. I'm placing "Kermit" on share for any of the drivers to use if they don't want to buy one and break it in. Would appreciate it if one of you were kind enough to post a picture of the car either here or in my garage.

We currently have just a few minutes over 48 hours left until the hard deadline for all tunes to be in. So any tuners who have not yet submitted their tunes need to start getting busy!

If anyone's interested I can give my impressions of the other cars in my "Dirty Dozen" what I liked and what I found to be an issue with them.

Take it easy everyone and good luck.
As Harvey Wallbanger always says...
Drive hard and have fun!:cheers::gtpflag:

Thanks, that would be the 3. Juy my time.......plenty of time to tune! :dopey:

Yes its that whole we live on a giant ball thing...so those of you in earlier time zones get a few extra hours into the 3rd.

Next time around I'll probably go to the trouble of figuring deadlines by GMT but this time my deadline if done by GMT would have come in the middle of my normal sleeping time.(I work basically a graveyard shift, so sleep during day/evening)

47 hours 50 minutes and counting!:crazy::D

Citroén C4 Coupe 2.0VTS '05

Good choice of car, I'm actually glad the Hyundai Coupe didn't work out (that car should always have been RWD). The C4 has a face only a Mother could love and it's a snarling, angry, dysfunctional beast to boot. Loved it from the first time I drove it, and am now seriously considering chopping in my RL Ford Fiesta for a 2.0HDi VTS. There's a distinct possibility that after a coffee spitting incident, I may have to replace one user's keyboard in Blackpool, sorry Roj... :mischievous:

The Tuscani was the fastest car, by several mph, I tested as far as top speed on GVS straight. However I don't know if its PDs modeling of the cars tires or what but driving it through the corners felt like wearing rollerskates on an ice hockey rink! Had the same problem with the Mitsubishi Mirage Cyborg which was the car I really wanted to surprise people with as it maxed out at 497PP. I think on stickies tires or a different track both could hold their own quite well. Just a quick note. Until I dialed the C4 tune in a bit the best overall time I had for any of my "Dirty Dozen" was with the Volvo S60 T-5, which was the heaviest, as I had them set up, and had the lowest top speed.
