NASCAR in GT5!

I heard that Gamestop will probably sponsor Logano's cup car in november 6th.

I believe it's probably the same livery as the one they have in the promotion, and it's obvious that the timing its to coincide with GT5's release.

I can't wait to check this thread on Nov 3 to hear all the road racer guys say, ok NASCAR is a lot different then I thought. Just because some of you h.ve raced Daytona does not give you oval experience. My only fear is that they don't put enough NASCAR tracks in the game. Gotta have least ten. Daytona charlotte martinsburg bristol Atlanta indy darlington michigan phoenix talladega and the glen. The glen will probably be on there cause its a road course .

I dont think GT5 will have 10 official Nascar tracks. I dont know Nascar very well, the first Nascar game i played was an rFactor mod some years ago.
I remember the Bristol track, I liked it a lot because of it's short lenght.
That unique characteristic could be a good reason for Bristol to make it to GT5.

Well I think they'll be a lot of disappointed NASCAR fans then. Without enough tracks they shouldn't even say gt5 with NASCAR. If it has a lack of tracks I'm upgrading my pc and going iracing. It's strange how little is known when the release is so close.

GT5 isn't THE NASCAR game. It's a game which among others includes NASCAR but also WRC, SuperGT and many series based on reality. So what some NASCAR fans are going to be disappointed, it isn't PD's fault.

sorry if this is out of place but I want to make something clear to those who say "left turns only"
The tracks may not be tough to figure out unlike Motegi or Suzuka where each corner needs an entirely different approach but taking those left turns quickly... now there's the challenge. You may not have the same risk of going off at every corner but if you want to be quick, you have to have millimeter control of the throttle and brakes. Too slow and ur at the end of a 43 car field, too fast and you make sweet love to the wall. Nascar is as difficult and competitive as any other discipline, even F1.
hah lol :D i was just about to make a remark about left turns only but then read your reply. i'm sure its very difficult. i wish i could actually try it in real life ya know!

Zork you can! Go to drivepetty.com drive or ride along, my buddy did few laps at dover. I bet there is a track near you. It's not cheap but my buddy said it was awesome

Hey guys, logged in a few sessions with the demo.

At Indy:

First i did time trials with R2 tires. I was able to hit turns 1 and 3 at
180mph, which is way too fast. Turns 2 and 4 was just a tad slower. Top
speeds along the straights was somewhere upwards 210+ i can't recall exactly,
but i did manage consistent laps under 47.xxx and even some high 46.xxx i
think. The current lap record for Sprint Cup at Indy is 48.311 set by Casey
Mears. Mind you, this was only R2 slick tires.

So i went back and bolted S2 tires, well not literally :dopey: but as expected,
it was slower and this time it was a lot more accurate. Turns 1 and 3 speeds
were somewhere around 150-160, depending on your angle of approach. Any
higher and the front end will just slip and under steer straight to the wall.
Overall, the Sprint Cup car felt pretty neutral; couldn't really make the tail
snap out at the bends by mashing the throttle.

Sound! Well, certainly not on par with iRacing, but it's tolerable nonetheless.
It's missing that gear whine all throughout the powerband. It sounds more
like a Corvette ZR1, mostly low bass.

Lastly, the drafting... still not convinced! I hope its just the current build
(the demo itself), who knows! The damn thing is too powerful! It's like a NOS
boost really. With R3 tires, i was able to hit 225mph, maybe more. With S2
tires, i was able to hit 220mph. Seriously, i hope they fix this.

That's it so far. I wanted to record the replays but a scrawny nerd salesman
stopped me from doing so. Wasn't allowed since it's a private premise. I'll try
and sneak one tomorrow if i could, if not, ill try best buy.

:)

This is also one of the cars you get if you pre-order from Gamestop. I always wondered why they would use a Nationwide car but it appears they had bigger plans! I really hope they pimp out GT5 with commercials during the final NASCAR races. I'm kinda disappointed there hasn't been more GT5 mentioned with the NASCAR media.

Masi 23 you are confirming my fears about this game. That NASCAR is gonna be a unrealistic gimmick. 225 mph! At indy, oh no. All you do is have to watch one NASCAR race and you'll realize they don't top 200 very often. I really don't think the folks at GT have a clue what the sport is about. Further more it will give all the NASCAR haters mote fuel for there fire. I believe they should have just made a NASCAR separate game. Oh well we will see Nov.

Keep in mind, these kiosk demos are clearly based on an older build as they lack many things. Also chill out, its not the final so as you said, wait till November 2nd

Well I already knew that car was available when you pre-ordered from gamestop, thats why I was talking about how cool it would be if it actually was real. Thats why seeing this announcement brings a smile to my face :)

1) The demo is on arcade mode.

2) What I played was far better than anything EA Sports ever offered. Cars felt real good, damage seemed accurate, and the A.I. is pretty smart.

3) This will be the best NASCAR experience on consoles since Dirt to Daytona.

I hope so dalejrfanfreak. Dirt to Daytona was beast.

RACECAR I'm chill. I've had high hopes ever since I heard NASCAR on GT5. Its just I really haven't played a NASCAR game I liked since EA Thunder 03. I kept buying the new EA games and after a month I kept going back to 03. It really was the most balanced game they ever made, with the sway bar adjustment. You just couldn't R&D your engine all the way cause then you'd be to fast. I'll buy GT5 just my expectations are much lower now. Because....They won't have many tracks. They won't have 43 car field. But on the bright side every game has a update. And every game has DLC. So maybe they'll add tracks($15) and patch the physics as they go.

Ah my bad. I think that'll be once race where I just have to be a Logano fan lol.

Don't forget there's a track creator tool! Sure they won't let us build grandstands and such but who's to say we can't make our own NASCAR tracks to share and race on?!

I forgot to mention, I agree with you on the NASCAR Thunder 03 bit. EA totally ruined NASCAR games for a good 5 years or so. I've been on their forums for years telling them to fix this and that and they never listen. This will be the best thing to happen for NASCAR gamers in a very long time.

What gives? Can you elaborate more on how much different it was? Are there going to be 'Arcade' and 'Simulation' modes for Time Trials? I was in TT when i sustained 180mph through T1 and T3 and it was with R2 tires, how much faster with R3 slicks?

I haven't raced in TT mode, I've only raced at Indy on the professional setting with no aids. The only reason I think arcade mode will be different is because what I experienced seems far too easy to be the most difficult setting. I might have been using R2 tires but I could catch up with a pack of cars without having to draft them which doesn't seem right for the hardest difficulty.

Probably due to an old toned down demo. The demo at Gamescom seemed to be quite a bit faster. The guy couldn't catch up without any drafting. This is the build with skidmarks. AI left him for dead

Note!
Too Fast! S tires would suit well for competition. I tried N tires too and it was very unforgiving. Very limited grip. I can also
confirm that there's no 5th gear and Cup Cars felt great at Nordschleife. Still could not record because of stupid store rules.

EDITED!

The guy in the above vid did a 50 sec or so lap time, on the 2nd lap, without drafting
1.1 seconds off the AI, with drafting, probably on pro physics and R2 tyres

Why are using R3 anyway? R1 would be more like real world slick tyres

I see the real world qualifying record time is 48.311 seconds with a 186mph average speed
For race 50.099 secs, 179mph average speed

Yeah I don't think there will be many Nascar tracks. If Nascar wants their cars playable on all tracks that could be the sign.

I used it to see what the top speeds are. Ill be testing sports tires also.

I haven't played a NASCAR game since '98 on my PS1 haha. This one looks way better and has about the same amount of cars on track so I hope it'll be a good experience. Definitely sounds better.
