We will likely have Infineon Raceway, but yeah, I know it's not enough, which is also why it's odd they have the license. It's the same with WRC. Why would they want to claim the WRC license if there are no WRC stages? PD make no sense sometimes.

I'm just saying that it should be all american, although it probably won't.

agreed its a bit odd they got the licence but then againg. EA's efforts at making a nascar game have been HORRIBLE.

Nascar racing 2003 was the best nascar game to date, so having nascar in GT5 with the awesome gfx etc will be great. But Id still reckon the handling wont be quiet NR2003.

I have a question, do all Nascars have the same interiors? or are there differences?

No, each team gets represented by a manufacture (like in every other form of motorsports). The manufacture designs the interior for the car, and then once the teams get it, they tweak it a bit more. So in the end, each team's cockpit is different.

EDIT: and by the way, it's called a NASCAR stock car, not "a NASCAR". I know NASCAR is easier to type and all, but it's just one of things that kinda bugs me.

Okay thank you :)

Maybe we should point out what "NASCAR" means.

National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing

And to differentiate between the 3 elite classes there are the following.

Cup..........................Sprint Cup Series
Grand National............Nationwide Series
Truck........................Craftsman Truck Series

So far it seems we will only be getting cars from the Sprint Cup Series for GT5.
As the Cup series are the top of the line in the sport it makes sense for now.
I would like to see some of the other 2 series included.

800+hp
3400 lbs
skinny race tires
= :scared: :mischievous: 👍

Just some random thoughts about NASCAR.

I wish the calendar has more road courses, atleast 6 in a year imo:
- Infenion
- Watkins Glen
- Gilles Villenueve
- Road America
- Road Atlanta
- Laguna Seca!

Sorry, but a cup car going through the cork screw at Laguna Seca would be like dropping a brick off a ten story building and hoping that it doesn't shatter. It would be total mayhem. Two wide through there, and someone's gonna eat the tire wall. Watkins Glen on the other hand is a definite as it's an official cup track. Added to that the fact that it's my home track as well. (Even the Subaru Impreza WRX on my avatar picture is a picture from the infield of Watkins Glen)

Youtube it. Its been done at Laguna Seca. For either testing or exhibition. I agree it would be mayhem two wide, but manageable at the least. It would be pretty epic for sure, but I have a feeling those with major road racing experience would really make the guys who grew up short tracking look slow. Montreal even brings that out, except for Carl Edwards, but he did beat Schumacher that one time, so who can really say?

Well if we get Laguna ( i think we will ) and we know we have the ability to drive the Nascars on any track, then who's to say we can't? ;)

Just because it sounds great...

Don't mind that limiter  And perhaps I was wrong about the testing, maybe just parade laps. Cool none the less. Tired sounding V8? Don't think so, that car sounds angry! :scared:

Edit: Fixed!

Edit: Does anyone see videos? I see white boxes. What's the deal?

You posted your videos incorrectly.

Yes, I've seen it before. However, that's just one car. Could you imagine 43 of them 2 by 2 trying to squeeze through there? Yeah, didn't think so.

If old Trans-am cars can get through the corkscrew, then the Sprint cup cars can. Besides, I've seen Cup cars go two wide at the Glen and at Sonoma and its gone wrong (remember the synchronised spin?) so what would make them going two wide into the corkscrew any different?

One track I'm really worried about is Bristol. I love it in every single Nascar game and not having the "soup bowl" would be a disaster for me

What makes you convinced that a Cup car going through the corkscrew as impossible? I don't think weight would be a factor at all (as mentioned by RACECAR w/ the TransAms). Neither is ride height, hence, CART/ChampCarr. I still remember Zanardi's pass on Herta :) It's the same logic as it is with F1 cars going through the grand hotel hairpin, whoever thought of it first was a total lunatic! ...now he's a total JEANYUS! Yes, it might be risky to go through the corkscrew two wide with 3500lb tanks, but thats what is going to make it exciting :)

So I played the gt5 demo at best buy yesterday and did a fair amount of time doing nascar races in indy. I was a little disappointed. The AI took the wrong line and was desperately slow. I never play gt with a controller I have had a wheel since gt2, but I spanked them even on the hardest difficulty on pro physics and no tcs or driving line as I havw spent enough time through the years racing at indy. I hope for the demos sake that it is just a demo, and that they will be harder when it is released because I pulled away by 2 seconds a lap once I got in the lead in turn 1 of lap 2 and that would not happen in real life.

Whats tyres were you using? You may have been using better tyres than the AI

The AI seemed pretty fast in the Gamescom demo

iRacing is without doubt king of the hill when it comes to NASCAR simulation. It's made by the guys behind NR2003.

I know the car can handle it, but putting about 43 oval jocks round it 2 by 2, lap 1 in those 2 ton monsters. I just can't see that going well. I'm sure they would adapt.

sorry if this is out of place but I want to make something clear to those who say "left turns only"
The tracks may not be tough to figure out unlike Motegi or Suzuka where each corner needs an entirely different approach but taking those left turns quickly... now there's the challenge. You may not have the same risk of going off at every corner but if you want to be quick, you have to have millimeter control of the throttle and brakes. Too slow and ur at the end of a 43 car field, too fast and you make sweet love to the wall. Nascar is as difficult and competitive as any other discipline, even F1.

I can't wait to check this thread on Nov 3 to hear all the road racer guys say, ok NASCAR is a lot different then I thought. Just because some of you h.ve raced Daytona does not give you oval experience. My only fear is that they don't put enough NASCAR tracks in the game. Gotta have least ten. Daytona charlotte martinsburg bristol Atlanta indy darlington michigan phoenix talladega and the glen. The glen will probably be on there cause its a road course .
