Pit crew motion capture looks amazing as well

Yup, animations look great.

does anybody else wonder about interseries compatition. not nascar's vs f1's but other cars on a nascar's preformance level.

This should be interesting. NASCAR just isn't designed to run road courses. They have alot of HP but they are designed to be challenging to a driver....the car not doing everything for the driver. Like, traction control, the IRL push to pass(LAME) and so on.

Should be neat to find out where exactly they shake out.

I'm sure most of you have read this little clip. Thought it belonged in this thread.

Included in the premium garage will be nine NASCAR models, including those used by superstars - in Middle America, at any rate - like Carl Edwards and Brian Vickers. Brian Vickers! I know. GT5 allows you to race by the NASCAR rules, as well. Seeing it in motion seems a bit too brutal to fit comfortably into the rest of the game, but it's an excellent opportunity to enjoy that new physics deformation system and some truly epic crashes - although, typically, even fender benders look rather pretty and artful in Yamauchi's universe.

Why only 9 of them if there are more than 9 in the game?

11, 14, 18, 20, 24, 42, 43, 83, 88, 99

At E3 there were only 9 models but Kaz mentioned that there would be more in the final game.

I'm aware of that announcement, but even if you include the model revealed last year (the 55), it would still be 10.

it seems like they should include every car of the teams that are already in...so were missing the 5, 39, 19, 9, 17, 16, 82 and the 1 so there's 18 more than enough for a full field

Maybe someone already talked about this..

In the RBR trailer

EDIT :

at, 1:32, a Nascar car hits another one and, watching the video, it seems it makes quite a huge jump...

Is it just me to be impressed of such jump? The car seems to fly .. landing on other cars, then the video change scene (PD stop teasing us please! it's unfair..)

Sorry for quoting my message.
I would like to know the opinion of some of you regarding this... thanks :)

Sony Pulled the trailer.:grumpy:

Wonder if this means the guys that have already made their videos using that exact trailer might be in trouble. Also, whats the big deal about it? Everyone has already seen it so whats the point of pulling what millions have already watched(and downloaded)? Sometimes I don't understand Sony.

A full inclusion of teammates would also have the 6 and 98.

I'm not into nascar like I used to be, but this would answer one of my childhood ?s, would a lamb or something beat a nascar in a race on one of the oval tracks??? I'm sure you guess might know, but it would be fun to try out..... Right????

Can a fifth grader beat you in the name of grammar? I'm sure the guys would know by looking at your post, right?

*Game

I dont think a Lambo would beat a COT on an oval, COTs are MADE for ovals, plus they got 800hp and HUGE racing tires.

Lambos do have 4wd, but understeer is bad enough for the FRs on ovals so a Lambo might have to slow down a bit more and be more conservative.

I found another link for the trailer. It should work. Please let me know your opinion. Thanks.

When I played the Gran Turismo 5 demo yesterday, I sampled the NASCAR stock cars. I can say that the handling of the stock cars and their sounds are fairly spot-on. I am a veteran of the old "NASCAR Racing" games from Sierra/Papyrus, so those have tied into my experiences with stock cars. I didn't play with the Professional driving model or do any road racing with these stock cars, but I think the cars handle like... stock cars.

It was a wonderful and masterful job by Polyphony Digital including these cars. You don't have to like stock cars to appreciate racing them. Gran Turismo has always been about road racing. However, that didn't stop them from including rally racing, single-seater formula cars, and stuff like that, didn't they? I was quite impressed. Also, don't let only 16 cars to a track (as opposed to 43 in Cup and Grand National, and 36 in Trucks) deter your interest racing stock cars in Gran Turismo 5. The package is still pretty solid from what I've played in the GT5 demo.

No, I've never played any of those. My NASCAR Racing experience is:

* NASCAR Racing (PC, 1994)
* NASCAR Racing 2 and 1999 Edition
* NASCAR 07, 08, and 09

Those have tied into how I think NASCAR fares in GT5.

i dont know anything about nascar, except that they drive in circles and the only exciting part is when they crash, but since its in GT5 I will be glad to learn more about this sport!

I'm not going to rough you up on saying that NASCAR runs in circles (because I'm not like that). However, I will say that while stock cars are primarily known for oval racing (not circles. If you want circles, look for a track called the Nardo Ring in Italy), they do road race as well. Part of me says that GT4 was probably looking to add NASCAR before GT5 since GT4 featured the stock car configuration of Infineon Raceway. NASCAR races some pretty good road courses. Some of NASCAR's history on road courses include Infineon Raceway, Watkins Glen, Portland International Raceway, Heartland Park Topeka, Lime Rock Park, Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve, Road Atlanta, Road America, and various other road courses NASCAR has raced or currently raced. They usually race on Road Atlanta and Virginia International Raceway for road course testing. I think it was Richard Petty who mentioned that stock cars were not meant to go left AND right.

The NASCAR series in Canada and Mexico race more road courses than the top three touring series here in the United States. NASCAR's Canadian series, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (formerly CASCAR), races on some good road courses including some street course racing. I only remember them racing around Toronto and the old Vancouver street course. As for NASCAR in Mexico, they have tracks like Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and Puebla (which has a unique road course configuration) among some other courses.

All I'm saying is... NASCAR does race road courses. They may not be like FIA GT cars in road racing, but there's a science to road racing stock cars. Road racing will be a great challenge with stock cars. The next time I play a GT5 demo, I want to do some stock car road racing to practice racing these NASCAR stock cars. I also want to race these machines with the Professional driving model. I will have to edit my first impressions to note whatever my experiences were like in playing this game.

The main point is that NASCAR does MORE than race on ovals.

I noticed while playing the demo the other day something weird about the nascar driver animation. While watching my replay at indy, in the incar view I noticed that when I upshifted to 4th, he put the gear lever in 5th, and when I had to downshift he put it in 4th gear. Hope this gets fixed.
