I downloaded the original, that was hosted on RedBull's site, but is higher res than what RedBull had showing in their player

Any YouTube vids of the trailer linked on this site will get deleted shortly. That's what happened to mine
There are Sony folks here you know :)

You can play FLV vids in any player if you download the KLite codec pack

I just noticed that the Red Bull trailer showed a bit more of the mysterious X1 protoype.
I would have never noticed that if it wasn't for Sony trying to get the video removed from the net 👍 :D

Maybe they were "embarassed" by the trailer?
Red bull may have jumped the gun it, but it wasn't shown a TGS, nor on PD's site. Maybe they were planning to release it, but had a change of heart
Out of respect, I won't discuss the details (or why they're actively trying to take it down), but yes - the trailer was just never supposed to be released.

Well, at least they haven't tried to take down the photo with the Virgin F1 car. :dopey:

By the way, thank you for the confirmation. 👍

In Regard to Advertising on Tracks: Does the BBC have to get permission from each sponsor (that may be shown on a track) each time they show a race? I would assume they do not. In the same fashion, I would assume it is the same for PD. They go to the track and get the license for the track. That agreement should include the ability to show any sponsor on that track. Personally, I don't see how it could work any other way. As to why they choose to replace some banners with their own, I guess they pick the best banners and put their own logo there.

TV advertising and video game advertising are completely different. If Speed films a race, then any banners they film are the result of the camera being there. However, when you drive by a banner in GT5, it was put there. A game is built, a Sports show doesn't build the track every time it goes somewhere and usually the banners you see are who is sponsoring the race.

So, while one could argue that "it's in the game because it's there in real life" the truth of the matter is, it's a game that's built. Look at what happened with that one track in France. PD had to remove banners to keep Sony from getting sued. You could, I guess, do what the Simpson's have done for ages and just use all kinds of copyrights without asking for it, but you do run the risk of someone getting upset. And besides, PD has a partnership with NASCAR who owns Grand-Am which runs the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. I would think that it wouldn't be hard for Sony to have asked Rolex. I mean, Seiko's been in the series since GT1.

May I ask why it was made in the first place? Was it just something RB or PD made for the other?

Not actually. As was stated before, banners on track are usually part of those assets included in the licensing of the track so it doesn't involve asking those companies directly. Also, the flags on the track(which is italian, not French) were a completely seperate issue as it was disputed by City officials (not company officials) and it was more of a political issue then a licensing issue.

I wasn't really commenting on the specifics of Rolex.

However, you could be right in regard to copyrights on tracks. But I will stick with my assumption over yours, because I don't think copyright law differentiates between video games, television, and movies.

In regard to the flags in Italy. That is different.

Two Most Likely Scenarios:
1. PD did not really ask anyone about the inclusion of the square. Simply, assumed it was public space and took a chance. They probably did not realize there was a copyright until they were sued.
2. They did get permission from the local authority. However, they assumed the permissions came with all possible copyrights that are found in that space. However, they found that not to be case, when they were sued.

damn! you know the real story behind all this drama?! now i'm even more curious...would you be willing to divulge the details to us after the game's been released?

I remember a brief discussion a while back regarding the number at the top right next to the time. Personally, I think it is the day.

This person is on day 12.

Kind of a worthless revelation, but I thought I would throw it out there.

However you'll need VLC to play it.
It won't work otherwise.

Just got to wonder why at this point, late in the game, why is PD hanging on so tight to info?, TGS was the last major showing of GT until game release. Yes we where flooded with amazing dynamic weather/daylight system & some new tracks, which is more than I ever expected in one sense, but one would of thought we would have publicly seen Kaz doing a walk through the menu system or showing things off like the track creator in motion, why only behind closed doors. A number of the release mock-ups of menus appearing to have errors, such as the B-Spec. It almost seems like Kaz is trying to walk a thin line much like Bill Gates did some years ago with an unfinished Windows, though not as successfully. :)

Good spot! Never really paid attention to the screens but glad someone else did.

Hm, I wonder if races in GT Mode will have horse power limits, just like GT2. I hope so. I don't want to modify a car in GT5, then discover it's overkill.

Hmmm, not sure if I'll actually be in town on the 5th, but might as well RSVP anyways I guess. I imagine it will be the TGS demo, though.
