Likely due to goodyear being a tire maker in GT5. Not sure what other tires they have available in the game. Does the sign say Michelin on both sides at the real track cause the picture is from the other side of the video.

Yes it does say Michelin on both sides.

Michelin is in:

I think we've also seen Michelin ( and several other major tire brands ) on those Premium Stealth cars for example, so that argument doesn't add up.;)

Then I'm lost. There is no reason for the michelin banners to not be there.

You're right but it may be because it's a demo. I just wanted to point out that a sponsor banner isn't necessarily shown in the game because it can be seen on the real track.

They usually use GT banners as placeholders until they put the real banners in.

It's still weird though because La Sarthe has similar sponsor boards above the track which are included in the demos. "Pays De La Loire" near Tertre Rouge is an example.

Doesn't that first part invalidate the 2nd part?

From what I've found, almost all banners were accurate to the real life track. Watching the Rolex Monterey classic race last week and seeing the new shots, banners do match up in almost all cases. When you get a license o recreate a track, you don't usually need a license to recreate whatever else is on the track since the track-sponsor license covers those things.

It does not invalidate. I'm just speculating. The key word in the first sentence is may and necessarily in the second sentence.

Just played the demo (it finally is here in PT) and was lucky enough to have it all to myself for a while (while the wife and kids were distracted).

If that was a final product, it would suck in 2 aspects. Loading was sluggish, image looked odd (maybe the beaten LCDs fault), and I raced on green asphalt on the Nurburgring.

But it's not final, it's just a faulty demo.

Loved hitting the Nurb on an SLS, manual, no TC an managing to keep it on the road at all times.

City tracks were very interesting. As the Lambo, 458 and GTCC. The C4 rally felt odd (like a fwd that occasionally power slides as a rwd, and the NASCAR was really not in it element anywhere.

Physics felt really a big step up in the right direction. And to anyone who tries it: do not use TC or any other help if you want to get a feel for the game. Otherwise you only find out how electronic aids are implemented in it.

I think it was a very good tasting session. Looking forward for launch. More than ever!

Hmm...this isn't good news...for whomever it applies to... "Gran Turismo- Exciting news everyone. GT5 will be released on November 5th and until then we’ll be sharing a whole trunkload of exciting content with you all. Plus coming very soon, we have a competition launching where you can win a trip to Madrid. You ready?"

Was that written by Sony?

I never understood how everyone was so excited about 'real time tire deformation' yet, they don't support active moving parts on cars?

There you go again, spouting out assumptions as fact with that smug attitude. What I do know is that those banners are there in real life and therefore on the virtual track as well. How many times has this been explained before? We had this discussion with the Aston banners at some other track, might have been la sarthe actually, not sure.

but....they have to get permission from Rolex to use the name and symbols. And you don't find it interesting that Rolex is in the game along with the Daytona Road Course. I mean, come on...and NASCAR is in, and NASCAR owns Grand-Am. It's not too much of a stretch to think that the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona or the Rolex Sports Car Series might be in GT5. True, there's no proof, but still.

And you're the bastard with the smug attitude all the time. I was just pointing out an observation. You're the only one who even commented on it and you jumped down my throat to do so.

Both of you, lighten up. Get over yourselves.

They do? Where did you find that out? Pointing out an observation would be "hey, a rolex banner, wonder if they're involved with the game" not "hey, I saw a rolex banner and hereby declare them a sponsor in GT5".
I jumped down your throat? Buddy, I asked why you thought ROLEX was a sponsor, then you came down with the mocking "don't you know" comment, not me.

:embarrassed: oOps. Sorry DUKE, no more comments on the matter from me.

[Graphically shown] tire flex increases visual realism.
Currently GT cars all look as if they have solid or overinflated tires, because they don't properly deform under both static and dynamic loads.

Konami banners were on Suzuka in GT4. Either Konami and PD agreed to allow a company that made a game directly competing with GT4 to advertise in the game or they just replicate the track as much as possible.

But, they could get sued for using a copyright without permission. I wouldn't be surprised if PD (or Sony) asked Konami if they could use their name. Remember Kaz is a Sony rep, as well as CEO of PD. I mean, doesn't Konami have a good relationship with Sony anyway? I'm sure if Sony asked them they would let them use their name. And with a lot of companies suffering in the current economy, I doubt Sony would want to risk being sued for using a name without permission.

No, since Konami banners were in the game, that means Solid Snake was a secret driver to be unlocked! It all makes sense!

(Just using the same "logic" as displayed elsewhere)

WAHHHH!

Sony had my Red Bull TGS 2010 trailer removed from my YouTube channel... :nervous:

Sony trying to hide something...?

Unless the use of logos at the track is determined to be part of the track according to their advertising contract.

Yeah, the makers of Enthusia were advertising in GT4, the game they were directly competing with. They have a great relationship.

And in all reality, assuming that PD had to get permission from each individual advertiser at every single track they map, or put up a GT logo instead, it still does not make Rolex an official sponsor of GT5. It means they made a small agreement to let their real-life banner be shown in a video game version of a real-life track. That and Rolex doesn't actually own the 24 Hours of Daytona race or Grand Am, so even being a sponsor could mean very little, especially if all we have is their sign on a track that isn't Daytona.

Now, just looking at the facts that we have the Daytona Road Course, NASCAR, the owners of Grand AM, are working with PD, and that PD has no qualms making a real-time 24 hour race is enough to get some curiosity about the possibility of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona being in the game. But until I see Daytona prototypes I am not getting my hopes up.

Oh My God! Thank you. I don't get it either.

Then talk about realistic physics when the bogatti Vayron is able to achive it's top speed by lowering the ride hight and lowering the rare spoiler half way. Yet no one complains when the Vayron in Forza 3 does this without the spoiler even being dispensed. :yuck:

Double standard i tell you. Hell even GT PSP had active moving parts on cars that actually have it in real life.:sly:

Whats really weird about the sponsors is that PD (as it stands according to the previously posted La Sarthe vid) have decided not to include advertising hoarding/signs for their own game,
0.jpg

Thats GT and Playstation sponsoring the Tetre Rouge that was there this year(and I believe similar GT/PS advertising previous years, could be wrong),
Why would they not add this in when they actively change advertising boards at other parts of the track to advertise.....you've guessed it....GT and PlayStation:ill:

Well tire deformation can me coded in without being visually seen.

Forza 3 devs boasted visible tire deformation and thats fine but tire deformation like tire wear can be coded without being visible.
