Anyone noticed Open wheel car image in the japanese site of gt?
There is a screenshot in this page about apex magazine http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/products/gt5/campaign/
third screenshot!

That's real life F1. In the Apex book, they go over all types of motorsports. That doesn't confirm anything about F1 being in GT5 (though we already have the F2007). These pics were posted here a while ago and we already went over that.

TGS 2010 Kazunori Yamauchi Interview

From GameBlog France:
http://www.gameblog.fr/news_18160_tgs-10-interview-de-kazunori-yamauchi-gran-turismo-5

[GameBlog Fr] What are the reasons you are made to postpone the date of Gran Turismo 5 release many times?

[KY] For the West, we never announce a date.
So the things have followed their course as it was scheduled.
And of course, is always the same thing: I always want to continue working on it, but people around me stop me!
It must stop at some point or another.

[GameBlog Fr] Are you really satisfied now? or you still want to do more?

[KY] I always want to do more, of course.

[GameBlog Fr] You mentioned the concept of premium cars. can you tell us more?

[KY] Standard cars are actually cars from previous games in the series.
We had less work to convert them to the PS3. They were included to provide a greater variety in the cars.
Premium cars however, are like a glimpse of the future of the GT series.
Moreover, and we have mentioned before, we may have gone too far into detail on PS3
What we have done is perhaps more appropriate for a future console.

[GameBlog Fr] Does that mean that only premium cars will have a damage management ?

[KY] The damage will affect the two types of cars but they "express themselves" differently depending on the type of vehicle.
The premium models have a damage model much richer.
But all will damage.

[GameBlog Fr] You have presented a new mode, the "special events".
Those will they take the form of appointment on the internet?

[KY] Yes, it's that!

[GameBlog Fr] Such as to compete against Sebastien Loeb?

[KY]Yes, quite

[GameBlog Fr] How much physics has been reworked in relation to GT5
prologue?

[KY] Characteristics and movements of tires, and suspension have been changed profoundly since the prologue.
One could say that this is totally different

[GameBlog Fr] after a well deserved holiday, do you leave immediately on GT6, or do you have other projects in his head?

[KY] I actually enjoy working. So I do not tend to want to take a Holiday.
And of course there are still many things I can do for Gran Turismo.
This will probably lead me to begin the development of GT6.
Whatever happens I can assure you that waiting for GT6 will not be as long as that of Gran Turismo 5

Perhaps Kaz is implying the inclusion of tire deformation? Not that I would expect any less from Polyphony, since tire deformation is essentially a given nowadays, with even arcade racers such as Need For Speed: Shift incorporating the feature.

👍

Remember however, that statment comes from Kaz, a man who laughed at the notion of GT5 taking until 2010 to release ;)

And why would he want to take holidays from work, when work involves travelling the world taking part in highly prestigious automotive/motorsport events? :sly:

I wouldn't say so, tyre deformation is a graphics related. Yamauchi was responding to a physics related question. Tyre deformation would be a nice little detail though, especially in open wheelers!

No, most likeley the changes to the tire model and physics.

As above, he was talking about physics not graphics.

.....and tire flexing is a part of the physics. If GT5 has tire flex that will be great. Here's a Forza pic showing tire flex.

Who says it's isn't in the physics model? Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.

I think it's slightly overated IMO. Adding it wouldn't make the physics model suddenly better. But then I don't fully understand how it works.

I think he was probably referring to the tire and suspension physics model. They are very important and complex for accurate and realistic car handling.
Regarding flexing, probably the GT physics engine takes it into account, but it's not graphically shown, at least as of yet.
From what I've seen in GT5 videos and screenshots, I think the game partially simulates this through in an easy way by clipping part of the tires with the road surface. It's a rather rough hack, though.

By the way, I hope that dynamic tire pressure, in-mid-out wear and temperature, flat spots, are implemented. They are more important than visual flex.

HEY! Rolex is now a sponsor. I think that would confirm the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona as an endurance race. :P

Read this a few days ago and it irked me a bit? Where is ROLEX confirmed as a sponsor? I hope you're not talking about the banners at La Sarthe?

👍👍:tup:exactly!

Already posted on the TGS thread and that was it. Didn't spring any meaningful discussion as people went most after PD\T10 graphical choices to render the track and color differences (or something like that). Although, that doesn't explain the difference in the layout when both cars reach the Porsche section... so... who's got it worng? *cues dramatic music*

EDIT: Gotta check my eyes. It's a speed difference and not a length issue from any of the games.

I really prefere the Forza 3 déco colors, and i prefere far away GT5 ligtning. 👍

So thats ment to play them i have to be online???:nervous::nervous::indiff:

Do you think he is saying the tires can flex?!!

I hope so because that's the one thing Forza has that I want GT5 to have.

All I know is that the guy who coded the physics engine for Enthusia is now working for PD and is one of the people behind GT's engine.
Enthusia had the best feeling power oversteer ever. Nothing has come close since, hopefully GT5 will do so :)
So it's a good thing GT4 killed off Enthusia :P

And I hope PD get the wheel unwind effect right, when you let go of the wheel coming out of turn. Enthusia has it, the Time Trial didn't... It's one of the things you need to be able to drift properly, with a wheel

You do know that if the banners are in the game, then they're at least a sponsor of the game.

There you go again, spouting out assumptions as fact with that smug attitude. What I do know is that those banners are there in real life and therefore on the virtual track as well. How many times has this been explained before? We had this discussion with the Aston banners at some other track, might have been la sarthe actually, not sure.

I'm not so sure. This Michelin sponsor on La Sarthe near the Porsche curves has been changed to "Gran Turismo" in GT5. Maybe it will be corrected in the final game but see at 4.03 in the clip below.

Likely due to goodyear being a tire maker in GT5. Not sure what other tires they have available in the game. Does the sign say Michelin on both sides at the real track cause the picture is from the other side of the video.
