Wow - horrible day yesterday... anything up to a second a lap slower than Sunday. Fiddled about with the setup a tiny bit today (softened front springs, removed front and rear toe, increased camber front and rear) and with a calmer head, managed to improve by a couple more tenths....

T1: 15.378
T2: 34.713

Was a bit slower through the final section but still an overall faster lap. I have to say I love this car - its beastly but feels oh so sweet when you maintain traction and finally power away from your ghost (you know, the one you were beginning to think was driven by an alien). A common problem I have is trying to outbrake my ghost and cut up the inside, hehe... then reminding myself I'm not racing it.

New setup if anyone is interested:

Transmission:
5-speed close ratio (fixed) 130mph

Drivetrain: (front/rear)
Initial Torque: -/10
Acceleration: -/40
Deceleration: -/18

Suspension: (front/rear)
Ride Height: -25/-25
Spring Rates (kgf/mm): 9.9/9.0
Dampers Extension: 3/3
Dampers Compression: 3/3
Anti-Roll Bars: 3/3
Camber: 2.5/2.0
Toe: 0/0

Brake Balance (front/rear): 7/7

I've covered 379.6 miles so far for this WRS challenge :)

Some of you D1 boys are outrageously fast. Well done indeed 👍

And call me Chris by the way chaps :)

Thanks for sharing this setup as I'm battling to tune this car as always I have no idea where to start.

Look at that beauty!! .. Doing what she does best ;)

Finally got the money together to get my Chevy kitted up! Bought and installed all the upgrade parts but I havent done any tuning yet. Her looks will evolve as her setup does :)

Having a blast out there it has to be said. Not entirely sure I want to tune her at all! Such a lovely drive. Trying to put in fast laps is a little err, complicated though  I get a bit twitchy and a PB attempt goes to drift lap in a split second. Its great fun though, and from time to time I get a little pop up box telling me my rank has improved :D

Splits so far in my stock Chevy 👍 :

T1: 15.507
T2: 35.396

This is quite frustrating, well, in T1, whether it's due to not carrying speed from the last corner, or not getting on the power early enough I'm not sure, T2s are around the .3 mark, so fairly happy with them, but struggling to break .6 in T1.

Fiddle with the setup and spend all night on the combo and keep doing "just another lap", yep, the WRS is back!

Thanks Aly

Not bad for a :grumpy: old un

Phillip.

Not bad at all :D ,How do you guys approach the first corner ,the First Sector is driving me Nuts :ouch:

Guess that is what I get for a Muscle car tunning week combo :D

T1 :15.509
T2: 35.026

How do you guys approach the first corner...?

Usually sideways at 100mph+

On the laps when I'm not fish-tailing down the home straight, I'm braking and turning in slightly (probably about 90-95% braking force with ABS 1), changing down from 5th->2nd, slight ammount of rear drift under braking, back on the power taking a slightly late apex, let it run onto the grass on the left and full throttle in a straight line to turn 2.

That probably helps you not at all... :dopey:

I'm finding torque in 3rd enough to counter using 2nd in any of the hairpins. Just too much going through the rear in 2nd I'm finding, which induces counter steer, which ruins the lap.

Then again, I'm doing something wrong in T1, so maybe best to ignore!

Same thing happened to me when I was watching my saved replay in the replay theater. GT5 was completely unresponsive, while with the PS button I could still access the PS3, very weird.

I get a noticeable pause at the start/finish of each lap (actual gameplay not replay); I hope its not affecting my lap time? :scared:

Also
Although I'm loving the challenge this week, I can't help but remember that while running the qualifier with the Merc at The Ring I loved every second of every lap, even when I made a frustrating error. This time I've lost number of the times when I've had to remind myself that I paid a lot of money for my G27 and breaking it would be a bad idea...

Huh? I thought the qualifier was the special event - sector by sector (2&3) and not a full lap?

Jesus it's gonna be a tough week.. :scared: Great splits CT 👍

I saw one .5 @ T2 yesterday.. and nailed the hairpin.. only to get a double shift from 3rd to 5th on the way up to the final turn. :ouch: Oh damn and blast I said to myself. :sly:

Good going people. Will have another run after dinner. 👍

Dinner should help a bit Dan - leave it an hour and your blood sugar level will be better. I've found that if I drink 3 or 4 cups of tea and then start, pretty soon I'm busting for the loo which apparently seems to make me alot faster :)

I am having trouble with shifting at the right rpm, without over-revving/hitting the limiter, with this car's gearing!

And little 'comfort' with these tires

Or you can use 'depends' and never take your hands off the 'wheel'

Second run, although i've seen a 35.3xxx this lap had a better T3:

T1: 15.563
T2: 35.468

Using eclipsi's settings today (thanks for posting those), but I still suck. :yuck:

T1: 15.764
T2: 36.054

Improved in Sector 1&3, but gotten worse in Sector 2. Better luck tomorrow I hope. :)

T1: 15.426
T2: 34.758

Only 0.1 better on T2 but 0.3 on final lap :sly:

Fantastic sectors chris, you are certainly being rewarded for persistance......... You won't be D2 Bronze for long at this rate!

T1: 15.575
T2: 35.030

Can't see me improving by much, maybe .2, if that. Not a fan of these... cars...:yuck:

Some improvement again

T1: 15.327
T2: 34.596

Managed to get .474 T2 once, but pushed too much after that...

Thanks alot mate - I did the best I could on the qualifier but much as I love Nordschleife I've never been particularly fast there. Having said that, I've never really liked Tsukuba but it's great fun in this car, which I'm loving for some reason - only the smell of ozone and hot metal from my wheel is encouraging me to take a break :) (The missus is remarkably supportive - what a star she is 👍)

My 3rd sector may be crap though - it's that final surprise I really love about WRS's format.

Ahhhhhhhhh!!! I've just seen a 35.0xx T2 time but then had catastrophic brain failure on the last corner and forgot to brake :( was miles ahead of the ghost :(

Damn thumbs are starting to hurt from the DS3 :( *must buy wheel*

How is it going for everyone tonight? Have seen some amazing times through the day!

Chopped 0.2 off my final time thanks to a perfect last corner, but I need to back it up with a better T1 and T2.

I applied the tuning from eclipsee and had a quick 4 laps and with result. This tune is going to help me lot. Thanks for that. Big improvement in the first sector and improvement left for the second sector:

T1: 15.711
T2: 36.257

Going to have more laps later on this evening. I should be able getting under 36. :)

And with my updated times, I am no longer last!:):):):) Need to pick up your game...GTP_russromance:sly:

haha, might take me a bit - I actually took a while to get good enough times to not be in last place before posting my split times! I've gotten better overall lap times since then, but mostly in the final parts, little/no improvement on the first two sectors.

The comfort softs are really making this is a challenge for me, and haven't had a whole lot of luck trying other people's tunes yet - I seem to do better with my own minor tweaks.

Quick question for everyone - when you post your split times - are you posting the very best times you got for those sectors, even if the overall lap wasn't your fastest? Or do you post the split times from your best overall lap?

Finally made an improvement tonight!!!

T1: 15.571
T2: 35.372

Not much on split tines, but have gained .4 on overall lap time :)

Actually That did help alot ,I though a better T1 might be achievable with a little side ways action so that backs up my theory ,I am using Ramon's Tune and there is No under or over steer under braking but thanks Chris 👍
