It's probably a bit late to say this, but due to various things I will probably be relegated to the status of "very occasional participant". I'd like to run every week but as it is I rarely accomplish more than half of what I want to with a weekend. Sorry.

What he said.. I'm also occasionally taking part , even thought I'd like to participate every week.

Probably the same here for me. I didn't have the time origially not to do this series a lot, and now my PS2 is broken :nervous: (My PS3 isn't backwards-compatible.)It's a simple fix, just really time-consuming (I hate replacing the disc drive motor. I did it before; I need to do it again.)

Here's the difference sim tires make vs normal, even more so actually if we don't hurt HEAVYSET's feelings too much by admitting he's generally a little slower than the leaders. Using skynyrd's and my best times this week for the cars HEAVYSET tested, here's the difference:

HEAVYSET=stock, skynyrd+me=customizable gears, pro suspension, simulation tires, and hp boost as indicated below

Toms T020- HEAVYSET 4.766 secs faster with 131 less hp and without stage 2 WR
Espirit Sport 350- HEAVYSET 2.495 secs faster with 35 less hp
NSX Type S Zero- HEAVYSET 0.663 sec faster with 96 less hp
Clio Sport V6-24v- HEAVYSET 2.110 secs faster with 131 less hp
Motorsport Elise- HEAVYSET 2.004 secs faster with 43 less hp
ZZ S Coupe- HEAVYSET 1.557 secs faster with 46 less hp
MR2 GT-S- HEAVYSET 0.455 sec faster with 114 less hp

And full results for the MR challenge are in on the previous page, yes skynyrd won as he had hoped... and I got my first last place result of the season...

On to the next battle, returning to the stock format. There's a ton of cars here, they're all within 1.5% of each other theoretically, pick your favorites. I'd especially like to see the GT-R's compared...

GT2 race series 12th event results: skynyrd's on a roll!

A couple things are made obvious by the results this week. First, as we all either already knew or strongly suspected, at a given weight to power ratio, FR's are much faster than 4WD's.

The second interesting result, if you'll look carefully through the results below, is that the normal '91 R32 GT-R posted a better time than the NISMO '90, V-Spec '93, and V-Spec II '94 R32 GT-R's. Upon careful inspection, it turns out that the stock sping rates are the same for all these GT-R's, but the '91 is slightly lighter, so its springs are relatively somewhat stiffer, and so its handling is a little more repsonsive. Also, for some reason the '91 sits 5mm lower than the other GT-R's compared here. Huh. Never would've guessed the base model would outcompete the more expensive tuner versions...

In other news, the Lan Evo III GSR was the biggest loser, with rotten suspension and gear ratios preventing it from taking advantage of the Evo's engine and compact rigid body. The MR-2 GT-S '99 also showed itself to be the econo-sports car that it is with yet another lack-luster performance. Seriously, why couldn't they have put at least a 2.5L engine in that sad little MR?

Top cars in this stock event were:
1) RX-7 A-Spec
2) NISMO 270R Silvia
3) Supra Turbo '97
4) Chimaera 4.0
5) Supra Turbo '96
6) 3000GT VR-4 '99 (best 4WD)
7) AMG C43 (go Lux Sedan!)
8) Mustang SVT Cobra '98

Looks like fun. So...totally stock except for tires? No transmission upgrades? Because I'm pretty sure the Camaro will only go about 100 mph without a different transmission.

Let's say you can swap a customizable but only change auto settings and only for the Camaro. I just wanted to keep this as stock as possible.

Won't hurt my feelings a bit. Reality is reality. And y'all can call me Heavy, for short. :)

I can't get over those time differences. Yet another flaw in the GT series. Why do we put up with this stuff? There are dozens upon dozens of cases of flawed programming, illogical design choices, physics irregularities, and other anomalies, from GT1 thru 5, yet we're hooked. Can't walk away from it, or get enough of it.

Car count is OTT. I picked 5. All stock on normal tires.

I'm shocked...! That was a big surprise, that I managed a win again.

Now this next one should be pretty interesting! I love this type of race.

Cool, MadMax is back this week!

And I'll try to resist the urge to plow right through the chicane so that I have a chance of beating his time...:)

Submitted times.

Two things to pay attention to , Racing Soft tyres no Super softs.

And all the cars are new cars exept the Nismo 400R . (1/3 prizes at Turbo tuned Cup)
I spent 30+ minutes refreshing UCD at Toyota searching for the SC300 before I thought to recheck the new cars availeble.
(missed the car at the first time)

MadMax

Just tried the ZR-1 using your settings after running about a second and a half slower that the time you submitted to me, and only improved by 0.2 (just to see, I'm still keeping my original time as final.) Looks like you're going for getting the rear end loose, and I have to say, it was fun whipping it through that first curvy section, and I think overall my times were more consistent.

When I used your setting I kept my original gear ratios, so this is basically what I ran with:

Springs 14/12
Rideheight 93/93
Damper Bound 6/5
Damper Rebound 7/6
Camber 1.8/1.2
Stabilizer 5/3

Brakes 17/12

LSD 6/25/16

Took me a long time to find a place to race on Apricot Hill in sim mode that wasn't an endurance race (tire wear on practice laps), part of a series, or had a low hp limit. Euro League, or something like that. Of course, since I never bothered completing the National races on this particular save, that one's closed to me as well. *headdesk*

In any case, looks like it's the arcade disk for me. I'll run the cars later and send in my times then.

All stock, normal tires

RUF BTR Type 1= 1:28.516

Corvette ZR-1= 1:30.859
DB7 Coupe= 1:34.393
Lexus SC300= 1:38.734

The RUF is a sweet ride. I don't know how the Cerbera was close. It, the Vette, and DB7 all were too tail happy under braking to inspire any confidence in me. I don't mind a loose car. It's much better than not being able to turn with a push, but I don't like to worry about swapping ends before the corner either. Not that my driving style has anything to do with it...... :dopey: :)

Times submitted using MadMax86's set-ups with slight gear adjustments to the Nismo 400R, Aston Martin DB7 and RUF BTR Type 1.

Well, I didn't win this time, heh.

Man, it's been a long time since I've driven this track, and it really shows. I wasn't happy with any of the laps I ran, but I ran out of laps and patience before I could get any really good runs. Oh well...

Yeah, I feel like I need another 500 laps to figure out the best way to take Apricot Hill. I'm not sure I do the first corner right, probably too conservative, not sure about the wide right going into the stretch before the hairpin, and I'm not sure of the setup before the chicane and how to take it well without plowing through. I think overall I was just too conservative with this one, and only with my last car, the Cerbera, did I get a little more comfortable with pushing it close to the limits, and taking the chicane with two wheels on the rumble strips and two in the dirt instead of keeping all four on the road and seriously dropping speed there...

I liked the loose feel of the Softs with all the power and not quite enough downforce, the ZR-1 was especially exciting, and the BTR Type I was fun as usual (I love that RUF especially, though it was 11-15 years older than the rest of the competition here it still finished close to the leaders.) The TVR though had both a great powerband and slightly more agility than anybody else, and probably would've taken the manufacturer's title if Kingofweasles had run it.

But skynyrd, you're now in 4th/18 for cumulative points and 10th for average result (8th for average before the last event...) Meanwhile I've moved down to 5th average after my two recent last place finishes in our duels at Midfield and HSR... and Kingofweasles is now 3rd after PatruckGT2 and MadMax86, and JISAW is 4th. Xenn is still 2nd in cumulative points but MadMax86 will overtake him in the next event or two if Xenn doesn't find his way back here soon...

*Looks at results from Apricot Hill*

 HOLY 🤬!

I mean, I had a feeling that 'Vette would be fast, but DANG...I give full props to MadMax86's setups; Without them, I wouldn't have been curious as to how they performed and would've just passed this event by to try the next one...

I get the message. No sense publishing my times since I'm on my own agenda. I'll continue to run each week, though privately. I think Jeff does a great job with the car and track selections. I've sampled many, many cars I wouldn't have touched otherwise. 👍

But it won't be the same without seeing your regular posts, Heavy! And it's been educational at times to see how your stock runs compared with the tuned times (the MRs where we ran on sims and you on normals, for example.) Would've liked to see you run the last stock challenge on sports tires, I must admit. Part of the reason I set that one up was for you so you since you don't care to add power or suspension but you had been swapping tires...

Well, I saw you didn't include my times with the results and I thought, why should you? I mean it's kind of ridiculous. You guys are serious competitors and here all I'm doing is taking test drives. Alone. Without a salesman freaking out beside me. :)

The fastest tuned RUF time was in the 1:16s and there I was tooling around 12 seconds back. It's like p***ing in the wind. I mean, who cares what my time is? :dopey:

Now, when or if you choose to run another stock comp, I'll clean the visor and strap in a little tighter and submit some times. :)

I'll still comment on the cars from time to time. They're why I do this.

Best so far is a 55 even with the Silvia, 320Ci close behind, and then the 280T and Skyline. Anybody else?

Heavy's stock on normal rubber edition:

The S2000 was the fastest of my bunch- 59.261. That little car has been quick in every game it was featured. Just as a note, I mistakenly ran the "Spoon" version first, with a 55.873.

The Germans lumbered around with the Beemer at a mid 1:05 and the Merc 2 seconds further behind. They felt the most stable. I'd rather drive either one over the S2000. Little thing wanted to swap ends every chance it got. But that allowed it to arc the corners better. I was surprised the Miata wasn't too far ahead of the Germans, coming just under 1:03. Thought sure it would run closer to the Honda.

I only ran about 3 laps each and didn't run the Silvia, Toms, or 240sx.
