I just checked BronyCray's DA page, and it turns out that this idea that I had:

Also, I don't think Spike is dead. Two reasons:

One, no one was really sure what had happened to him, so obviously no one really checked.

Two, I can feel the angst that Spike being alive would cause. Not only did they murder Spitfire basically for playing a part in an accidental death, and not only was Soaren's reasoning for supporting the execution because he thought Spitfire was killed by the Shadowbolts; but imagine the blowback that will happen if Spike shows up unharmed.

The author of this fic has shown that he revels in dishing out painful irony, and if I was writing this that is exactly how I would play the situation.

And what happened to the real RD? Is she knocked out? I hope she's okay.

Applejack found her knocked out in the storage room.

I have no reason to believe that Captain Dash killed her. Remember, she was alive when AJ searched the storage room.


Any ideas about the next chapter? I honestly, as I sit here now, have no idea what to think.

Trixie showing up and spoiling the party? I don't think New Ponyville is going to last much longer at all, but I'm not sure how it is going to go down. And I really want to see how Applejack handles the situation, because I'm getting vibes that she suspected The Captain was Alternate-Dash.

So I suppose that I do have a few ideas...

I wish I had a TVTropes account. Someone put a fic on the recommended page that I read this morning and found to be somewhat mediocre, and at the same time The Night That Never Ended still isn't listed on it.

I have a couple of ideas...

I too think, that Trixie will arrange a massive assault on the New Ponyville.
But what if the citizens will know about the escaped Shadowbolt? They will probably panic and they will want to evacuate. Rarity and Applejack will have big problems keeping the crowds under control.

I don't know about Shadow Dash. She lost her uniform. Maybe she will try to contact Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie? Or not, after the stuff she said I don't know what to think...

Yes. I edited in some more explanation in my previous post for his justification.

It was a combination of the fact that he was fighting in the first place out of honor for Spitfire and thus had no more purpose in life, and the realization that he had become just as much of a monster as he thought the Shadowbolts all were.

The former happened immediately after the execution was over, and the latter happened while he went off to be by himself with Spitfire's goggles.

Rarity's done. Mark my words on that. Chapter 9 will be the last time we will see her in a position of power. She may hold onto it in Chapter 10 for a little while, but she will lose it immediately after Trixie attacks or Twilight will conspire to have her deposed. She might not even live through the attack, but I'm not so sure about that.

As far as Applejack goes, I don't know. I really don't. I'm thinking that the realization that the Dash of her lifetime is still alive is going to hit her harder than anyone else, but even if that is true I don't know how she will react.

Finished reading parts 8 and 9, but I'll discuss part 9:

We all knew that the captain was Rainbow Dash, the amount of clues in previous chapters made this evident long before her identity was confirmed.

As soon as Captain Dash knocked RD out, I knew she would assume RD's identity. Throughout the whole chapter I knew that RD was actually the captain, so I wasn't surprised when she admitted it to Rarity, plus the way in which Captain Dash talked to Twilight made it somewhat clear that she wasn't really RD.

Damn, this story is good!

One of the unfortunate things about MLP is that many of these awesome fan pics are drawn by the type of people who have DeviantArt pages that I otherwise try as hard as possible to avoid.

And I would just pull them off of IMDB, but I want to try to get the sources from some of them (so I can note the artist for their work, and so I can get the best possible quality of the picture that exists). And not all of them show up on IMDB, which is why I grab a lot of them from the Drawfriends, which is why I go to the source, which is why I end up at a DeviantArt page, which is why I have to restrain myself from stabbing out my eyeballs.

EDIT: Now I have to replace my eyeballs. The depiction of "Cupcakes" with naked, humanized characters is just inhuman. :boggled:

ED is going to explode with Abacus pictures. The recent Drawfriends had a hand-drawn one that everyone went so crazy over that it has already been turned into two three huge vector images, one of which was so large it was over a meg.
