I know , it was late when I posted that , it was the best I could come up with at the moment.

The point of this thread is not to make Ludicrous claims, but to call out those members who make them and ask them to either back them up, apologise for them or suffer the fate the AUP outlines for those who willingly mislead members.

As the very first post in this thread makes clear....

Don't you just love it? Seeing as how this is a community based around a Racing Video Game, we often get the excitable members that like to make ludicrous claims. Yes, you've seen them.

"I've got a 700hp Supra that's a daily driver"

"I've got a Mustang slammed on 20's that'll smoke anything you've got"

"My dad drives a 600hp Porsche"

"I drift a Skyline"

"I drag a 685hp mustang"

The usual claimant is in their early teens and loves to quote rear wheel horse power and dyno charts and $6000 in suspension upgrades, among other fabrications. Along with this comes the attitude/ego to match the size of the engine Horsepower.

In three years here, I've seen some fantastically fun ones. I'm sure that others can come up with a few as well.

I'm putting out a standard challenge. If you make a ludicrous claim, you need to post a picture of it, along with a hand written sign on the car. The sign shall have "GTplanet.net" and your member name on it.

If you can't post that image (Hey, you can dump $6000 on a suspension, $15 on a digicam at the local store isn't much) then your claim will be stamped "ludicrous" and you'll be cast out, as well as made the laughing stock.

If you guys find fun ones, post em up in here

At least he admits they're not actually his. Still, I'm guessing he came from the GT5 forum; some of those folks seem to like constantly posting what their parents own.

All of the numbers and stats he quotes for the real car are wrong too. The RS200 is my favourite car of ever and it pains me to see it misrepresented like that.

From a 1 post member talking about J. Leno's simulator. Welcome Mr. Pants On Fire. :)

emilnet

I actually drove on the SIM in Leno's Garage and no it does not replace the track, but you can drive a virtual circuit on Laguna Seca without going there. Police love it.

So many kids bullcrap about "their cars" at my school.

Seriously. This kid told me he bought a ZR1($100k+ car) a few weeks ago, seems kinda believable 'cause theres some wealthy people around this area, but then told me his ZR1 was running mid 9's on the 1/4 mile with just an intake upgrade j. I was like "No way, dude. Maybe mid or high 10's" just so I didn't come off as a total douche. Some kid comes out of nowhere and tells me "Nah, brah, a ZR1 can easily do 9's, brah." ... Lingenfelter ZR1s dont even run mid 9's last time I checked.

Then the same kid told me he had an RX7 that whooped dat ass. Okay, that seems more believable; he also said he drifted it and could easily reach 180mph. I asked him "Sweet, I love RX7s. FC or FD?" He looked at me puzzled, so I said "Is the body rounded, or all square?" He said "Yeah, its like the Veil Side body. Like, Tokyo Drift."

Seriously, I don't get why people make stuff up like this. It makes you look like a dumb ass when you talk to someone that actually knows their stuff, fool.

Sounds like one of the people I know. Last year, he was saying that his dad bought him an R8. No one bought it because this kid is known as a liar. This year, he's saying he got an rx7. To try to make his lie more believable, he was giving "progress" on his engine rebuild. Is a Veilside body kit a must for people lying about rx7s? I should have asked him if it's an fc or fd, Im sure he would be stumped.

Ah, the mysterious "build". And no, you can't see it until it's done!...And it won't be done for a while...And he's out of town that weekend...And he'll be enjoying his "build" the weekend after that...And his aunt is going to borrow it for a month after that...

"It's not a Scion, idiot! It's an RX-7!"

He should be asked if he has made any modifications to the flux capacitor or messed around with the giggle pins. :)

Might I add that he was trying to race me in my 3, saying he could beat me in drag, drift, etc. Let's see...

Drag- you'll break the engine or the transmission off the line

Drift- you'll probably 🤬 your pants the moment the back kicks out even the slightest.

Another little irk, he claimed that NFS Hot pursuit's handling is better than GT5s. Probably because I beat (completely DESTROYED) him in GT5.

Now...what do we have here?

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=215560

I have done enough GT playing to be able to win a hotlap in a V8 supercar. It happened a couple of months back and today it was time to cash in on that price.

The actual ride was over faster than you can take an X2010 around the Nurburgring but it was enough inspiration to keep wasting... errm... having practice time on GT5. If only my console wasn't dead....

Pics... yes I got a couple but my webserver is playing up and I can't be arsed trying to upload them anywhere else.... :-)

Although our names aren't too different, we're not affiliated in any way. My "S" stands for "super friggin awesome".

The guy did provide pics and state the he was the passenger for a hot lap so really it isn't a completely ridiculous claim if it's true. Unless the pics were of someone else of course....

My biggest problem with what he's said is:
the reason I could is because my oldest brother works for Sony on the gran turismo car search line ( he researchs the cars and tells them what cars to add)
as he clearly has no concept of how the whole publisher and developer thing works. Or what is involved in the development of games like this. Or anything to do with games. Or cars.

Not sure how you got all that from that statement. It could simply mean he searches for what cars to use and then the whole rights/days requirement starts.
I agree it's likely BS.

He also has no concept of the art of ********, it should be borderline believable.

Also, I recognise that username, you cost-minimised basic transportation device!

You should get a temp ban just for bringing this up when the person in question has actually posted photos of what happened with his mug in the passenger seat of the V8 Supercar he has described.

I admit, minor oversight.
