So that free Imageshack Uploader app I mentioned...

Well the car I was talking about looks like any other Mustang, wouldn't a google search be fine?

Ignoring that I disagree with your assessment of its looks, when we request that someone prove they have a certain car we expect to see their car, preferably with a handwritten sign in the image.

In your case I would say it isn't necessary, as you said you had no way to prove it, but people were just pointing out that you do have ways to prove it.

Well, he did say in his original post he had no way of backing it up... hence, he has no way of proving it, nor interest.

I wasn't sure why we were caring so much that some kid said that he knows someone who has a certain car. I know people who own some expensive cars. Am I required to prove it?

Yes. And send me a $10 for every one that you can't prove. I accept $10's and $20's.

I don't really see a point in him proving it, unless he was claiming to have driven it at the track or around town all night. In which case, most people would have taken a picture of it, especially if they're fond enough of cars to come on her talking about it.

I think we just like pointing out when people are lying, and being able to prove that we're right.

That said, my uncle owns a mint condition RT/10 Viper from the first generation, it's a nice "little" ride. Foot wide tires at the back notwithstanding.

So many kids bullcrap about "their cars" at my school.

Seriously. This kid told me he bought a ZR1($100k+ car) a few weeks ago, seems kinda believable 'cause theres some wealthy people around this area, but then told me his ZR1 was running mid 9's on the 1/4 mile with just an intake upgrade j. I was like "No way, dude. Maybe mid or high 10's" just so I didn't come off as a total douche. Some kid comes out of nowhere and tells me "Nah, brah, a ZR1 can easily do 9's, brah." ... Lingenfelter ZR1s dont even run mid 9's last time I checked.

Then the same kid told me he had an RX7 that whooped dat ass. Okay, that seems more believable; he also said he drifted it and could easily reach 180mph. I asked him "Sweet, I love RX7s. FC or FD?" He looked at me puzzled, so I said "Is the body rounded, or all square?" He said "Yeah, its like the Veil Side body. Like, Tokyo Drift."

Seriously, I don't get why people make stuff up like this. It makes you look like a dumb ass when you talk to someone that actually knows their stuff, fool.

Because they're kids. And they're going to be the same kids who add an intake & exhaust to a Camaro & think it can't be beat. They have zero experience with people who run high powered cars, so it'll become a worthy life lesson when they run their mouth against the wrong car.

The guy that told me the story was an 18 year old in 12th grade.. And the kid that back him up was 17.

Like I said, just kids. One of my younger friends goes to a school where a guy claimed he had a turbo Altima. Even when questioned, he never opened the hood & always made excuses.

I imagine the moment you ask this kid to show his ZR1, he'll be making excuses. Doesn't matter the age, there's always car "enthusiasts" who BS others because they want to be cool, but don't actually own anything fast.

Exactly, and they're the "enthusiasts" who think that having a fake ZR1 is always cooler than you're real miata/mr2 or hell even your moms old camry that you buzz around in. :)

Fact is, there are always kids (no matter what the age) who brag about stuff that they don't really understand. In my opinion, those people are merely here to make those of us who do know something feel more educated :) It encourages to "keep up the good work" so to speak.

I know a guy in his 30s that lies to me about his pair of Fieros all the time. At one point he told me he put a turbo on one. But something with the turbo system broke... He saw I have the MR2 and he wants to race them. But he can't until he fixes whatever it was he told me. I told him to just take the turbo off. "I want to run them how they came off the showroom floor, stock vs stock", is what he then said to me. Yeah...So now this is a "factory" turbo Fiero.

Days before he told me about "buying a 2JZ" to swap in the Fiero GT (for a while this has been planned to receive a 3800SC). When I questioned how he thought that had any chance of fitting in the car, compared to a V6, he said its shorter than a V6 because the pistons are smaller and because its DOHC. I really don't know how to take him.

Did you slap him and tell him to wake up?? :P

Puh-lease  At least the guys that are bragging about their imaginary cars at least have a license. Kids on my bus always gloat about how last weekend, or in the holidays, they were drifting in RX-7s, Supras, 370z', etc. Especially important is how they describe how they did it.

Lad
Brah, that ain't no 🤬 compared to what I've done. I was, like, full 🤬 sliding round the streets near my dad's house in his turbo-ed E-type, smoking the rears, brah. Full went up against some 🤬 in a GTR V-Spec, and I pwned his ass. Cops were full tryin' to take us out, but they couldn't keep up with my sick-ass Aston, brah.

Not one of the wild pack of dogs that he referred to as 'friends/brahs' questioned the authenticity of this fable. Me? I was holding in the giggles.

(Replace Jeep with imaginary Aston E-Type :dopey:)
You should tell them how idiotic they are then, even a casual mention of 'An E-Type's not Aston' would make 'em seem like a dumbass. Unless of course, they reply 'It's a Jaaaaaaaaaaag then, Braaaaaaaaaaaah!"
Makes me wanna do this:

In a situation like this, I just tell them I believe them(a lie), tell them why I believe them(another lie) and then proceed to tell them an equally or more outlandish claim. Usually, the guilty need no accuser.

Heres another couple.

The guys first and only post............
I got myself a Corvette ZR-1 and it doesn't compare to the game at all. The car only goes 206 MPH before the rev limiter kicks in. The gearing is the only thing I find wrong in the game. In real life it accelerates faster than the game and sounds cooler with bigger cams and upgraded exhaust.

And, this isn't about themselves but, its pretty ludicrous I reckon.......
no joke, I saw a Jagermeister sponsored BMW m3 ( Wayne Gardner 1992 DTM edition ) a month ago on a monza server . Found out it was the owner of one of the GT5 car modeling directors, Tadashi something.
