New DLC Free Car and Update 2.02

It seems I have to repeat this every few weeks around here. ;)

You guys must have memory issues, because the reason that GT5 was rushed out the door partly finished is because the entire WORLD threw a fit over it. We DEMANDED that Kaz release what EVER he had, and fix it with patches LATER! Heck, I even gave in about 2010.

And now, you guys got what you wanted, and some of you complain about it, and you're blaming who?? :D

Some of you people seriously need a box of clues for Christmas.

I can't believe you still believe this is how it actually happened. Video game development is not a democratic process where the gamers decide when a video game is released. Polyphony Digital decided when to release, not the gamers, not Sony. If you believe otherwise, you know very little about this subject and probably shouldn't talk about it anymore.
 
Actually, Sony probably put their foot down and forced PD to pick a date and stick to it.


That being said, they didn't even make that date; and then they said that the reason it didn't make that date was because they needed the delay because they were "creating the perfect racing experience."
 
Maybe I would be a bit more understanding if Polyphony Digital said "we are releasing the game, ooh just a heads up, IT'S GOING TO BE CRAZY BUGGY AND UNFINISHED" but they didn't, they said it was done and ready to go. Gave no hints at just how bad and unpolished the release version would really be.

And I hate it when fanboys try to be "reasonable". There is NO reasonability in saying that the DLC's have been good so far when there have been 2! new tracks and maybe 6! really new cars in OVER A YEAR!

People who like this DLC will buy (me included), people who don't like this DLC will not buy.... and will keep b*tching about DLC until next DLC comes out... and so on :rolleyes:

Looks like a great update !
A few big and small things can be removed from the wishlist...

If they keep this up i wouldn't mind if they announced :
- err... GT6 is actually the same as GT5 but with nicer graphics :sly:

Not sure this is going to change anything concerning the upcoming DLC but I just read a facebook comment from Playstation posted about 40 minutes ago saying that they're going to announce new details on GT5's upcoming DLC. Here's the exact post they made:
We're back! Listen to episode 004 to learn next week's PSN games first, new details on Gran Turismo 5's upcoming DLC and update, Sorcery hands-on details, PS Vita's hottest games and more.- Playstation. Here's the link to their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/PlayStation I still wouldn't get my hopes up though for any of this.

I'm sure this was it. I can see Kazunori speaking with the head of SONY as he makes out a check, holds it up and declares, "NO MORE, Yamauchi-san. Finish the game." Especially since it's hard to say just how many tens of millions they spent on it! :D

But hey, you guys like the game or you don't. My nose still has its skin, and Christmas is still coming. :)

Yeah thanks for listening in. At least it's nice to know that Sony will be advising PD on what cars/tracks to put in future DLC :).
 
You can easily ignore the dlc if you hate it. Its called car pack 2 for a reason :P The update/patch itself is awesome. Cant see why anyone would complain about that.

For me I'll happily buy it for the new GTR alone. Its also easy to support a game as hefty as GT. I still play it heavily which I cant say about the rest.
 
Being that PD only has 110 employees http://www.polyphony.co.jp/english/, I think it's safe to say it's kind of hard to keep up with cranking out new tracks and cars every two months.

I, for one, am amazed at what PD is accomplishing with such a small work force. DLC every two months is a very serious and aggressive commitment. They aren't Turn10's 10000+ army http://www.linkedin.com/in/terrancenewell and yet PD is serious competition for them. I think PD's DLC will get better and better over time.

Indeed, Turn 10/Microsoft sub contract large teams around the world to gather car data and model cars and tracks, they have a big teams doing it and make it no secret.
 
If the game is buggy and unfinished, then don't play it. I heard the other game has no bugs and absolutely flawless, go play that.

DLC may not have super cars, but at least these are actually new content.

I don't get what logic you're using that makes you come to the conclusion that two months in between DLC with 4 cars that are just slight variations of vehicles already in the game, is aggressive and serious commitment. Turn-10 has put out 30 DLC cars since October 11th, all of them are unique and brand new to the game.

What you meant to say is, "The five design studios in the East Microsoft contracted, with a combined modeling team of over 400, have been able to produce 10 cars a month in DLC."

Let's be accurate. These cars take man-months to produce. ;)

You don't think, after selling however many millions of copies of GT5, that PD should spend some of that cash on extra team members? There's no prize for how much work you can do with a small team. PD need to hire extra people or outsource, and start attempting to catch up with the competition.

Otherwise, 6 years from now GT5 will have ~400 premium cars, and certain other games will be knocking on the door of 1200 cars. Start now PD! Don't let yourselves fall behind!
 
It just comes down to the fact that people don't hold these cars in particularly high esteem, for whatever reason. GT has always been about the more "mundane" cars, and I have to say that's why I still like it. An example: beating Audi TTs, RX8s, S4s, Clio V6s and the like in a Legacy 3.0R Wagon in a shuffle race. That's unexpected, and totally entertaining. It prompted me to search the UCD for one.

The DLC was supposedly unplanned / unlikely at least as recently as the summer, so the fact that it's a bit higgledy-piggledy is probably not surprising. Also, this is their first foray into DLC. Other developers have been at it longer, so it's equally unsurprising they're seemingly "better" at it.

I'm still excited about the update, DLC or no.

It doesn't matter, this isn't relevant at all. The point is, Turn-10 is putting out way better content. You want to compare this to Forza, and then you whine when the truth hits you like a bag of bricks and you realize that Polyphony just can't compete.

This is why so many people don't take Polyphony seriously anymore.

PD having a small team doesn't help them at all, it just tells me they are even less equipped to deliver a sequel that will live up their reputation which is quickly diminishing into nothing.

Which totally matters because they totally give out "Best Effort" ribbons in the video game industry, apparently.


In fact, one would think that PD still being so ridiculously short-staffed would be the hint required for PD to start hiring people rather than being justification for the "that's the best they can do so everyone should be proud of them anyway" line of reasoning.

Forza4 carried 410 cars and tracks from previous games except Porsche cars, NY, other track name is forgot . Added 5 new tracks and some 100 odd cars and the funny thing they are selling that seperately via DLC :lol:

PD should not even look at them. GT6 need more than 5 new tracks and more cars, features on the disk :)
