The easiest way to win this, is to buy, audi R8 (LMP playstation one) which is in OCD, start With Racind hards, push 100%... bob will pit on 3rd lap, put racing intermediates on, after that push 100% again, than pit on 7th lap, and keep Intermediates tires, and push aroudn 70 - 80 % ... thats it !

Heres what i've done so far:

Attempt #1
Mazda 787B Stealth Model: 830hp/950kg
Started on RH, pitted end of 1st lap switched to Inters, pitted end of 6th to new Inters, was 1st but tyres shredded on last lap :-(
Final Position: 6th

Attempt #2
Toyota GT-One: 790hp/947kg
Started on RH, pitted end of 2nd lap switched to Inters, pitted end of 7th to new Inters. By the end of the 9th the AI cars pit and switch to RH but they still output faster times than me even though its 40% wet!
Final Position: 4th

Attempt #3
Courage Judd GV5: 802hp/903kg
Started on RH, pitted end of 3rd lap switched to Inters, comfortable in 4th stupid bob wouldnt get past Mazda so pitted end of 8th with new RH. no traction, bob slid off at the end of the first straight. Switched it off lol.
Position: DNF

My bobs are lvl 30 & 28, won Spa first time each.

Any advice on car setup etc? Do not say 2J i've been waiting for 2 months!

Am i right my blue lvl 29 that mean wont win cos the b-spec online said must be lvl 35 or over?

so I make mistake on few day ago....i lost temper, broken apples mouse and tv remote control and control pad as well. that why I was realised that my b-spec couldn't win because must be 35 or over.

thank you.

That might explain why my Bobs (sub lvl 35 )always bins it on the last lap letting 6 cars go by as he rejoins the track after Mulsanne?

From the GT5 website:

"This is a B-spec race event on the Sarthe Circuit 2009, for cars with 700PP or less. Tyre selection is limited to racing/hard or less. The recommended My Driver level is 35 or higher. Keep a close eye on the ever-changing track conditions to stay ahead."

Try level your Bobs up a bit & earn some cash by doing the previous B-spec challenge Indy road course or by doing B-spec endurance races.

My post from previous page 1st On my first try with the Audi R8 01, high turbo max downforce 230mph max speed purchased with the prize money from Spa.

Started on racing hard tyres with lvl 34 Bob pitted end of lap 2 for inters then kept it going til lap 9 (forgot to pit lap 8) by then Bob was broken & needed a break swapped drivers, tyres & added 10l fuel & won by 20 secs

The trick is the poking & when to do it tried to keep Bobs cool through the twisty bits & abuse the hell out of them on the straights.

Don't have a chaparral 2J don't think ones shown up for 3 months.

I also think the PD were concentrating too hard on the GT/LM cars for this one & forgot about the 2j

Good luck

Attempt #4
Audi Playstation - 800hp/950kg
Waited till 4th lap to pit for Inters came out in 6th. Contested the lead by end of 7th lap. Mid Lap 8 Inters started to give way and found myself in 3rd losing ground so pitted end of Lap 8 for fresh Inters with 40% moisture on the ground - at the end of lap 9 the AI pitted for RH - they put out faster lap times than I did and my tyres degraded awfully. ended 4th .
how is this is a simulation if slick tyres perform better in the wet than intermediates!!!

anyway i agree to above, seems to be that you defnitely a 35 rated driver. back to spa for some grinding lol

Also make sure you try to stay in the same car, because they get better in that car as well. They also get better on individual tracks the more laps you run there...

After about ten tries in various cars (Minolta, Pescarolo, 2 R8s but NOT 2J) and various strategies (Sport Softs, 1 Bob, 2 Bob, no pit, 1 pit, 2 pit), I finally did it.

Bobs Lvl. 37 & 31.
Audi R8 Race Car (Audi PlayStation Team ORECA) ‘05.

Settings:
High RPM turbo

950 kg

872 HP after a few races, no rebuild.

Strategy:
Started on Bob Lvl. 37 and Racing Hards. Pushed him to about 80% of the "heat meter" and maintained him there. He quickly went to P4.

Pitted on Lap 2 for Racing Inters and driver change to Bob Lvl. 31. When exiting the pits, maintained heat meter 50-60% through Dunlop curves on cold tires. Pushed to 80% at Tetre Rouge and maintained there. What cars didn't pit on Lap 2, pitted on Lap 3, Bob gained P1, which he kept until the next pit stop.

Pitted again on lap 7 for Inters again, and back to Bob Lvl. 31. Slipped to P4. Again, I kept him cool until Tetre Rouge. He then went to P3 on Lap 8, but in an inattentive moment by me, he let the P4 R10 behind him push his heat to 100%, and he spun in the Porsche curves. His new tires were well-worn from the spin, and he spun again in the esses before Tetre Rouge. Tires were now mostly shot, but we still had 2 laps, and everyone ahead had yet to pit a second time.

I kept him 60-70% hot for the remainder of the race. He climbed back up to P3, and then to P1 when the leaders pitted on Lap 9. Had a healthy lead until the finish.

Did it with chaparral 2J NO PITS, SPORT SOFTS

Damn, I did the same but failed xD

Gonna try again. The problem is that my 2J's top speed is 320 Km/h and the other cars are simply faster on the straights.

okay you can add me im chopppy (unsurprisingly) lol
I dont want to do this race just to get creds. I want to understand the game and how it works with pit stops etc

Finally I won it at my 4th Attempt !

I'm using the BMW V12 LMR Race Car '99.

First Bob: M. Wolff (Level 25) for the firts stint (he is very agressive XD), then pitted at end of lap 2 for intermediates.
Second Bob: W. Meister (Level 27) pushed hard and pitted at lap 7 for a new intermediates. Wolff pushed very hard and took the lead at lap 10 and won by less than a second !!
Very nice seasonal

okay I got it.... I already added you, if you didn't got friend request add me "N6KimiRaikkonen" same as you lol :DD

anyway, Normal AUDI R8 LMP (not playstation version) is the best car for that event : )

Thank you, Kwicko! :) Just won the race with the 2J. But by a very narrow margin; 1.646 seconds. Now to grind the race over and over again. I'll be glad when I get up to the 200% bonus again. :P

I think the key to using cars other than the 2J, is a combination of pit strategy and driver. My level 38 bob was too hot, and was barely under control. My level 36, on the other hand, was cool and calm. I took the Bentley Speed 8 and my aggressive bob for the first 4 laps. I pitted at the end of 4, and got my cool bob and racing intermediates. I then ran the rest of the race (no pits), keeping the bar in the 65% range. There was very little left of the tires, but I managed a win by 15-20 seconds.

I consider the Bentley an "average" car in the lineup, so the same strategy may work for other cars.

I know it's frustrating for many of you (myself included, more than a few times!), but they really do call this an expert-level B-spec event. So really, when you DO win it, it feels at least a li'l bit special, since that means you're now an "expert" at B-spec, right? :)

Anyone needs to borrow a car, just hit me up. "Kwicko" on PSN. I'm sharing a pair of 2Js, an R92CP, R8 '01, R10, and pretty much whatever else you'd like to try.

If I can beat this thing, then so can you. Trust me on that. :)

Not just other cars, but other Bobs as well. I'm starting to notice differences in my Bobs that aren't related to their experience level!

Won it this time!

Using Chaparral 2J,
Oil change,
The transmission set to Max speed 400,
The same B-Spec driver Lvl 31,
No pit stops,
Sports Soft tyres.

I kept the driver 100% hot on laps 1, 2 and 3,
75% on laps 4 and 5
50% on laps 6 and 7 and
0-25% on laps 8, 9 and 10 due to my driver becoming mistakeful.

overall time was 40 minutes, 30 seconds.

Thanks people!

!! Spoiler !! (The price for winning the both races in this seasonal event is below). Highlight it to reveal:

Not really a spoiler, it tells you the prizes in the menu before you begin. Check the little blue gift box. Ones with silver stars gift cars.

Besides, my prize for the Spa event was way better, an X2010 S. Vettel.

Adjust the transmission so that the top speed is 400km/h.

Mazda 787B let me down... and I had such high hopes! It started off beautifully, even with the BMW V12 in the grid (the 905 was on pole), quickly got up to 4th on Sport Softs, was hitting 244mph on the straight with a tow, flying by cars left and right. On Lap 5 he started to lose pace, so I pitted him in for a new set of SS tires, and decided to swap drivers as well. I went with a mid-L36 driver who's been on the rise lately, but he couldn't get the measure of the car - in the pits I slipped back into 6th place (I'd been in the lead prior to that, but the lead pack was gaining on me when I pitted). I came out of the pits, and Bob 36 was either losing pace by being slow, or losing pace by sliding off course or spinning. At one point, he was over a minute behind the leader. He managed to claw his way back to 4th right at the end, but was still 26 seconds behind the winner.

Bad Bob! Back in the box with you, and no ice cream!

Thing is, I think the 787 will win; I just need better Bobs and better management skills to pull it off!

If you're going to use a 1-stop strategy, I'd try using Racing Intermediates for the second stint. Unless Bob is doing 180-degree spins, they'll last 5 laps in the damp before they're trashed. They'll burn up quick in the first two dry laps, though, so Sport Softs or Racing Hards are needed then.

The only time I'd run Sport Softs the entire race is if I wasn't pitting at all. My best showing then was 2nd with an R8 PlayStation ORECA.

My 787B can win easily, all you need is strategy and a setting that suits ur bob

I hv added weight to 940kg / 860hp, and max rear downforce, my bob can now press the throttle harder in 2nd gear and speed up quicker!

I hv pitted at the end of L2 and L7, both changed tires to R:I

and keep bob's angry bar at around 70% helps

Got him through it the second time. Used inters up front, sport soft on the rear - this was suggested by someone here, and it DOES work, but you have to watch Bob like a hawk at the end of the straight, or he will sail right off, deep into the sandbox. Get his meter below 50% just to be safe, then punch him up some more for the rest of the lap. Pitted at end of L5, ran on to the end after that. Key to my first Bob was to keep him angry; key to the second Bob was to keep him cool. Worked out pretty nicely, for a 12.5 second win.
