GTP Exhaust + Car best Combo's

Have you tried using the stock flywheel? The racing flywheel really seems to v6afi some v8's.

I would love to see an advanced study of what parts change the sound of the engine. If the racing flywheel does that, I gotta think before installing it. :scared:
 
If anyone is up for it, we can have a LOUNGE day, where we just test all parts on cars and see if any part but exhaust change sound.. Engine Upgrades technically should. It raises the Rev Limiter, by a fair bit.

If anyone has anymore information on this subject, Please let us know.

It's sometimes quite entertaining to read the things that supposedly change a car's sound in GT5. It seems that sound is not something people are generally very good at paying attention to (it's like that old artist's question: "what colour is ... ?".)

A different flywheel does nothing but perk the engine up a bit, so it revs a bit quicker; it'll sound different on the rev limiter, too, because it's effectively a quicker cycle. Exhausts and turbo (conversions, but not all) are the only ones that do directly change the sound; plus gearboxes, obviously. :P

Well, there is a sort-of modelling of the drivetrain, in that there is a bit of slack in it etc.; perhaps the flywheel mods adjust this behaviour to make the engine rev higher under load for a given road-speed. Actually, I don't really know what you mean; I'd have to hear it. All the same, it doesn't change the samples being used, which is more the point.

You could argue that opening the bonnet changes the sound of a car, because it patently does; but then at the same time it doesn't. ;)

Still, I'll have to try that Z28 when I eventually finish this endurance race.
 
I have something to add to that^, If you get a stock... 07 Mustang, Rev it to the limit, record the limit, and then get the Engine Upgrades.. I have noticed the Rev Limiter Is raised. In every car the limiter is higher after tuning In Gran Turismo 5

True, and to add some info, the rev limiter and rpm that it gets max power/torque raises according to these upgrades:

ECU tuning (all cars from what I've seen)
Exhaust header and Catalyst (some cars get 100rpm + on limiter after these changes)
Exhaust Mufflers (most of them change the rev limiter. usually on 100rpm increments)

I'll get you some feedback on the Miura in a minute. But like I said, I'm not a V12 specialist. Until now, the semi-racing works for me. I'll test the racing titanium.
 
I would have done it my self But at the moment I don't have access to my PS3. So I can't.

This thread come to think of it is going very well.. there is a fair amount of Vehicals Getting on the list... & surely this is helping people
 
Ok, some other car that I've been testing was the TVR V8S... a car known to have a nice V8 sound.



The stock exhaust seems accurate but it doesnt have enough volume. The Sports doesnt sound like a V8 at all. The semi-racing its the one I liked best. The Racing Titanium exhaust sounds like a Jigsaw that is having sex with a harley-davidson and a nascar. That nasty raw V8 sound from GT5 we know. Don't think it suits the car, but it does sound like a V8 for my poor knowledge.

Now the Miura:

The best one for me, and that sounds most accurate IMHO its the semi-racing. It keeps some V12 notes together with a low-rev rumble, typical from these old engines, specialy being this case, a Lambo.

The Racing titanium, like some stated above, its just too dirty for me. Sounds very similar to the TVR Speed 12, the TVR Speed 12 its a really dirty sounding machine, so its ok for it, but not the case with this Lambo Miura.

But again, any V12 connoisseurs out there, please enlighten us with your knowledge!
 
A few more for people to review,,, (all standards models)

AC Cobra (THE original, not the Shelby one) - Titanium Racing Exhaust
Stock is ok but a little too quiet. Sports is too much like a modern German v8 really, so unless you want it to closer resemble a kit car, it's best avoided. Semi race sounds very out of place, to a degree that you could be forgiven for thinking it's had a V10 stuck into it. Far too much like a viper after 2000rpm. The full race exhaust is best representation of a classic v8 of them all, if I'm honest, as it has a lumpy aggression to it.

Acura CL '01 & '03 - Titanium Racing Exhaust
Stock is a bit too 4 cyl, Sports is like a normally aspirated Nissan Skyline, semi race is almost identical to the Supra RZ, full race very similar to NSX, so possibly the one to choose for accuracy. Semi race for best sound though.

Acura DNX Concept (untested, but probably same for Honda Dualnote) - Titanium Racing Exhaust
Stock has a very unimaginative tone, throaty but too "clean", Sports is similar to a TVR racing six cylinder stock engine, semi race is back to the Supra RZ, full race is much more like the NSX. 3.5l 6 cylinder engine, possibly derived from the NSX, so full race would be most accurate.

Acura HSC Concept (again, untested, but probably same for the Honda version) - Titanium Racing Exhaust
Stock is ok, although missing something, sports also like the nissan skyline, semi race same as Supra, (again) but obviously with a higher rev range, full race is very much NSX, although has a hint of "turbo-ness" to it. You can hear the exhaust gasses hitting the fan blades of the turbo, despite not having one!

Acura Integra Type R - Titanium Racing Exhaust
Stock is very "type R" in sound, although lacks any punch or aggression, sports is very throaty, and reminiscent of the newer Civic type R's, semi race sounds more like a powerful outboard marine engine, full race is possibly the most aggressive sound you can get for a honda. Sounds like pretty much every Honda you see in the fast & furious movies, so would be my vote.

Acura NSX '04 - Any, to a certain degree,,,
Stock is as good as a natural real life stock NSX, sports has a deeper tone, although doesn't really sound like a tuned car, semi race is back to the Supra again, full race is the tuned NSX sound that is best represented of the four exhausts.

Acura NSX Coupe '97 - Titanium Racing Exhaust, or none,,,
Stock doesn't sound right at all, I'd even say it may have lost a pair of cylinders during the sound generating process, sports has a more distinct 6 cylinder sound, but no real depth, semi race back to Supra again, full race has a better overall aggression, but also seemingly has the turbo sound at idle, again wrong since it can't be fitted with one.

Acura RSX - Sports Exhaust
Stock is just downright awful, sports has a bit of civic type R about it, semi race sounds almost as bad as stock, just with a little more throat, full race sounds like a marine engine again. Sports is the best of a really bad bunch.

Stock has a definite Alfa V6 ring to it, Sports has a slightly more aggressive tone, but retains it's Alfa distinctiveness, Semi Racing is good up to around 5000rpm, but horrid after, Race is like the sports note, but loses that Alfa sound.

Alfa Romeo 156 V6 - Sports
Stock is very Alfa V6, Sports is also a slightly more aggressive Alfa sound, Semi Racing is a very nice V6 note but not as genuine to the marque, Race is good up to around 6000rpm but loses definition after this point.

Alfa Romeo GT 3.2 V6 - Sports / Semi Racing Titanium Exhaust
Stock retains the distinctive note, but is a little too quiet for my liking, Sports is a much better Alfa V6 sound, Semi Racing has a similar sound but has an open throated sound, Racing is even more open but a little raspy.

Alpine A310 1600VE - Sports
Stock is kinda like an old Ford Escort in sound, Sports has a much more full-bodied sound, similar to a Lotus Twin Cam, Semi Racing has a little bit of Renault V6 about it, but that could just be my mind playing with me, Race is a little too wide open and doesn't really fit this car.

Amuse S2000 R1 - Titanium Racing Exhaust
Semi Race has a rather wide-open and straight through sound, which for some reason I don't like, whereas the full race system is much more like a tuned S2000, but this is one I'm not 100% on, so all comments welcomed here.

Amuse S2000 Street Version - Titanium Racing Exhaust / Any
Sports exhaust sounds pretty good, Semi Racing also sounds pretty good, with a higher revving tone to the Sports Exhaust, although for me the full racing exhaust takes this, as it's louder and even higher revving.

Aston Martin DB7 '00 - Stock or Semi Racing
Stock is a reasonably good attempt at a DB7 sound, Sports is just awful, Semi Racing is pretty good, and sounds like a more aggressive stock exhaust, but the full racing exhaust has a little bit of Dodge Viper about it, which completely spoils it.

The S2000's I'm not 100% on so please critique to your heart's content. :sly:

Aston Martin DB9 '03 - Stock
Stock exhaust is really good but a little quiet, Sports has a lack of definition , almost sounds like a 4cyl, Semi race is great at idle, but sounds more like an outboard motor, Racing exhaust is a little bit too much like the Cadillac Cien.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage - Semi Racing
Stock has a nice European V8 sound to it, Sports has a rather strange note, like the Lancia Delta with full race exhaust, Semi race has a note very similar to the Corvette with a nice range of notes, Race also sounds like a speedboat.

Aston Martin Vanquish - Stock or Semi Racing
Stock exhaust has a very nice sound after 4000rpm, Sports has a very similar problem to the Vantage, sounding like a Lancia Delta up to 5000rpm, Semi racing has an extrememly nice tone, almost like a lamborghini, Race exhaust has an extremely aggressive tone, like a TVR Speed 12, but sounds like a V8.

Audi A3 3.2 Quattro '03 - Stock / Sports (All sound good though)
Stock has a decent European V6 tone, Sports has a really nice lower region and sounds awesome up to 5000rpm, but gets a little raspy after this, Semi Race sounds like the Supra RZ, the Race exhaust sounds like a Skyline, both out of place but very nice.

Audi Le Mans Quattro - (None, they don't have the V12 note the car should)
Sports is good up to 4500rpm, but sounds like a V8 after this point, Semi race loses all definition and also sounds like a V8, Race exhaust also sounds like a V8, but a nice European tone.

Audi Nuvolari Quattro - Stock (or none, again)
Sports is good between 3000 and 4500rpm, but not so outside this range, Semi race is just bad, Race sounds like a tuned European V8.

Audi Pikes Peak Quattro - Stock / Sports
Sports has a nice, low-slung V8 sound, Semi race has a good open-throated sound with immense low rpm notes, Race exhaust reverts to the generalised European V8 sound again.

Audi RS4 '01 - Semi Racing
Stock has a generic V6 note, Sports is a more beefy sound, but still very generic, Semi Racing has a really nice deep-throated warbly six cylinder sound, Race exhaust is nice, but a little too similar to a Skyline.

Audi RS6 '02 - Semi / Titanium Racing Exhaust
Stock has a very nice warbly V8 tone, Sports is great at idle but is rather bland in the revs, Semi race has a great European V8 sound, Race has a slightly more aggressive tone to the Semi Racing one.

Audi RS6 Avant '02 - Stock
Stock has an awesome warbly V8 2 toned sound, Sports has a lack of definition and character, Semi is like a badly tuned Euro V8m Race is the same generic Euro V8 tone as pretty much most of the German V8's.

Audi S4 '04 - Semi / None
Stock is a very dull V8 sound, Sports has a really nice idle sound, but no definition in the revs, Semi race has an aggressive European V8 sound, Race has a total lack of any distinctive sound.

Audi S4 '98 - Semi Racing
Stock is a little dull, although has V6 notes to it, Sports is slightly more beefy but is basically the same as stock, Semi Race has an impressively nice warbly V6 note, close to the Alfa Romeo, Race exhaust is a little bit like the NSX.

Audi TT 1.8T - Titanium Racing Exhaust
Stock is very good for a 4cyl, but a little quiet, Sports is just a complete mess, V6 midtones, S2000 high-end, Semi race has a complete lack of definition to it, Race exhaust has a really nice lumpy idle and a unique overall note.

Autobacs Garaiya - Stock / Titanium Racing Exhaust
Stock has a reasonable sound, although sounds like a smaller engine than 2L, Sports has no definition, and almost sounds like an S2000, Semi race also sounds like a high-revving Honda, Race Exhaust is very generalised in sound but the best of the bunch, in my opinion.

Hi I really love this great thread! Pls keep it alive. At first I tot I just buy all semi racing titanium exhaust will make car sound realistic n beefy! I m wrong! Tks ts for this effort!

Subaru WRX STI Prodrive with Titanium exaust = ACR with titanium exaust XD

Oh, you reminded me.

RUF RGT with titanium racing exhaust = Lamborghini Gallardo with titanium racing exhaust :yuck:
