Results of my trip:
11 stores covered.
1st store was a good score, lots of new stuff. No TH's.
Stores 2 through 10 came up with only 2 good cars. 👎
Last store (by my house) scored pretty good, spent $20 there. Lots of new stuff, got those Boulevard cars I wanted from the last page, and picked up a nice error.
No TH's all night.
No boxes to go through either.
Pictures tomorrow.
Dude, after your intel on Walmart, I decided to copy your move this morning. I went to two nearest one(still far
) I have been to before, three I didn't even know existed. One of the Walmarts, one that's way off the highway(of course) had untouched "dump bin".
I failed you my master.
Everything was neatly stacked inside. I've never seen that before. At first, I thought some Walmart employee with tons of time stacked them inside the bin neatly.
As soon as I realized that's probably how Mattel ships them, I started tearing through them. I went through I think every single hot wheels in that box, and after I was done, it was the messiest dump bin I had ever seen. But no treasure hunts. If it was labeled green, I'd be 100% sure I did not miss it. It might have been one of those secret treasure hunts, one that I am not aware of(like .'71 Challenger I didn't know about).
Any who, I did find Knight Rider car that I was after. There were about 10~15 of those in the box. Good sign. 👍 I can see why scalpers do what they do. I see they are selling like hot cakes on eBay. 👎
I took two Knight Rider for myself, one spare.
Dodge truck, I didn't even want it, but you guys were making big deal of it, so..... Finally got that "Boulevard" Cuda I coveted.
Not into monster trucks, however, I do like Nintendo characters(who doesn't?), so I had to pick up the Donkey Kong truck thing.
You didn't get a treasure hunt either, but I hope you at least had a similar luck I had. Other than Treasure Hunt + new Furai
I got everything I was after, including an extra 2002 so I can take one out of pack. Edit: I lied, I wanted the "80's" Hachiroku as well!
P.S. It is weird what you find, and don't find. I commented on how common RX7 & 2002 had become. This mega hot wheel quest, I saw "one" RX7.
2002, I still saw a few.
P.P.S. Nobody tell me how much I spent this morning, because I simply don't wish to know.
I know I spent just about $10 on fuel.
P.P.S. I just took the 2002 out of packaging. It does not look bad out of the package!
P.P.P.S. Man, I have a lot of say this morning.
Finally back in town, I decided to hit couple of local stores, as they were open already. Ran into couple of collectors(or scalpers, I don't know). Both, older. One was a Japanese looking dude, about 60+. Another was a white dude, about same age. The Japanese looking one, he was one step ahead at two separate stores(lol), but he was giving me dirty looks man, like I was eyeing his steak dinner or something.
I also got asked at the store I picked up the "Boulevard" '57 Chevy if I was a collector. I answered, "yeah, I'm kind of a beginner collector".
I think the guy was really impressed, and told me that I had great taste.
Sweeeet! 👍
